Where? I haven't seen any... but I might be overlooking them though.

Some of the options windows have been changed a little and there is some theme changes that have changed the spacing up. Like between bookmarks, buttons, menus and stuff. Nothing to noticeable tho. At least not to me.

So very minor stuff... nothing huge. But I was still wrong, so please forgive me

:p

I thought the final is comming out in 2 days? I can't really see a point to installing this tbh.

Because if a showstopper is found with a RC, it can be fixed before the final build is released. Else, you would be seeing 1.5.1 within a few days/week.

It is called being safe.

Yea I agree. I was just telling you what he was talking about. I wouldn't have corrected you myself, because they are so miner.

But technically it does have UI changes :p lol

Wouldn't the build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...2.installer.exe

be a bit newer, I am not sure how their dev process works, I just usually find the one with the latest date on it.

EDIT: I see lots of you guys say Firefox is much faster, well, it seems to be, but do you ever notice sometimes firefox seems to hang when initially loading a site. It will sit there for a while before teh site actually begins to load? I find that to be the most annoying thing about firefox, other than that I love it. I hate waiting for something to load, it seems in IE pages load right when you press enter, firefox can take time, but it doesnt' always which is weird!

If you look on the firefox forums or in a couple of articles, there are a lot of tweaks that make firefox run much faster. In order to apply these tweaks, type about:config in your address bar.

On the page that pops up you can see various settings for firefox.

right click anywhere on the page goto to new in the context menu and select integer.

1. call it nglayout.initialpaint.delay (when firefox loads a page it has a delay b4 it renders the full page. this sometimes makes the loading seem slower)

2. For fast system set its value form 50-150. The initial value is 250. I have a 3.2 ghz p4 and have this value set to 100 but could also set it to 50 without problems. Dont set this to below 50 as I have noticed performance decrease while loading pages with many images. If your cpu is old and slow dont change this setting or make it higher if u want. Play roud with the value and if you want to revert back to defaults just reset the modified strings.

Another setting to try is to type pipelining in the search on the config page. Right click on the network.http.pipelining setting and set it to true. Then on the max pipelines setting set this to 8 and toggle the proxypipeling to true.

(note: some ppl have experienced pics not popping up due to pipeling. This has not happened to me and i recommend u try it. If you have problems just reset the strings or try to increase the nglayout string mentioned above)

This should help speed up load times esp if you have a decent cpu with a decent connection. Search in google on how to make firefox faster for more help.

best verison yet

i wonder how fast 2.0 will be

EDIT: still one problem remain for me [every build up-to-date]

whenever my comp crashes, if my firefox is opened at the time of crash it will lose all its cahce =S

why is that?

anyone got a work around for this?

thx

Also if you have memory problems use tabbed windows more often(ie middle click on links) and try out some of the extensions for tabs.

Again look around theres a lot of help especially on the mozilla support forums.

If you have memory problems, the last thing you want to do is load up extensions.

With FF1.5 Pre-RC1 there are some compatiblity issues with most of the extensions for FF1.5 B1+2 and FF 1.07, but i am running FF1.5 Pre-RC1 with lots of the extensions, although i had to manually tweek some them to work with FF1.5 Pre-RC1, but other than that they are working great.

FF1.5 Pre-RC1 is also a lot faster, although it takes up 36,000k of mem (but that may be down to me have a lot of extensions running)

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
