Revolution Graphics Will Be Equal To Competitors

Recommended Posts

what Tjalian said. i'm sure that Nintendo will have many great games that also utilize the interesting features of it's remote..... as well as probably some games like i mentioned. one of the things that always ****ed me off about games that had swords..... is that you never got to control WHERE the sword went when you wanted it to be there. Like one of the earlier Star Wars PC games.... think it was for Episode 1. don't remember what it did to deflect laser shots with the lightsaber...... but often times the lasers would go right passed the lightsaber and hit you anyway...... usually when you were a few shots away from death..... seemingly in spite. Plus...... all you ever see are shooters anyway. i'm sure that if people see a game where you actually roam around with swords, say even a console-based MMORPG, where you actually swing the sword the way you want, as hard as you want, guard when you must, and even do PVP, sword dueling with a REAL PERSON over net play..... people will more than likely be drawn into that. why? because it is different. Shooters on Consoles are getting real old (last good shooter i've played on a console was Goldeneye for the N64. why? cause it was simple, had great gameplay value, and was easy to play. Halo/Halo 2? pain in the arse to get used to. using one stick to aim, the other to walk around, pressing down the control stick to do another function (was it zooming?), one button to switch your weapons, another to switch your grenade type, another to throw your grenades, another to shoot the gun, another to melee, another to jump.......... one reason why Shooters aren't near as good on consoles as they are on PC's. Shooters on Revolution will be a different story due to it's controller being motion sensing, as well as a gun. no more using a control stick to aim.

Also, i don't believe Nintendo is in 3rd.... nor has it been in third i believe. if anything, PS2 and GC are about equal. many people probably say the same. and i think it'll be a slight margin between first and second for a while (between Revo and 360), because i heard a cashier at the local WalMart say that he heard PS3 has been delayed till '07 due to complications.

Nintendo WILL be able to make games that the competition won't be able to stack up to...... their controller gurantee's that, as long as game developers take full effect of what it can do. it's not opinion, it's fact. it's controller alone can do stuff that the PS3/Xbox 360 can't do even if they tried.

Well, it's in my opinion that sales clerks are generally idiots (eg. they have no more information than someone like us [probably less even] who keeps well updated on console news). And there is no firm date on the PS3, tho it sounds like it will be launched sometime 2006 anyways (with delays). The clerk at walmart is just making a guess.

Overall, I can agree with your argument, I've been waiting for a MMOFPSF (First Person Sword Fighter) Ever since seeing the first LotR movie and invisioning a game like that. So hopefully the Rev will deliver that. That game alone would make this console worth it!

revolution, the gamecube was a powerful system .

AI is more about how the programmers program it and less of what its run on .

example in the 1930's a robot caleld electro(i think it was called) had some ai and he didnt even use transistors.

he spoke. moved and everything no chips wha so ever. he was very impressive for being built in the 30's.

just because the rev doesnt have like 6 cores it doesnt mean anything. the thing that matters is the programmers.

ati has said you could even do physics on their latest batch of their gpus .

Exactly, look at quake 3 bots... turn the graphics all the way down, it'll run on a system as long as it has "mmx technology" (LOL!) And those bots will perform more human than ANY current gen B game, and even alot of the A games. And this is quake 3 we're talking about - it's ancient and could run on a 233 mHz system no problem.

Serious? Damn, I'm gunna send off my old P75mhz and get some games developed for it then.

I would say what the developers make depends on what they're given.

Elemental Dragon:

Last time I checked, Twilight Princess was still being developed for GameCube?

I don't care what you believe, or what "many people probably say." The fact is that the PS2 is far and away 1st, with Xbox coming in 2nd, and GameCube coming in a close 3rd.

In terms of popularity, the XBox would be number one, PS2 in second and Gamecube in third.

In terms of how good they are, they are so close it doesn't matter. I don't glance at them and see that one is clearly inferior. The majority of games can be played on all three, and each has a good set of exclusive games that are great fun.

Personally, I have a Gamecube, because of the low price and portability. And above all, I would prefer PC.

No. I'm talking about worldwide marketshare, and my rankings are correct. They're not my (or anyone else's) opinion, they're simple facts.
Pc_Madness - I'm guessing they're going to make it a Gamecube game that can play on a gamecube, but when put into a Reviolution you'll be able to use the Revolution Controller to control Link(if you want).

Oh crap, forget about backwards compatibility. Good point, hopefully thats possible.

The thing is, most people won't want crap like that.  I certainly don't, and I have no doubt in my mind that the Revolution will come in third place again.  I think the margin between 2nd and 3rd will be much wider this time as well.

I disagree. Not only does the controller allows for new and innovative gameplay elements, but even if it turns out to be a "gimmick", people will prolly like it and use it just for those elements, and the refreshing feeling it'll bring.

Also, regarding the current console's positions, you're speaking in terms of installed userbase, which would be a good metric if every console you sold made a profit, or if even if you had profits those weren't eaten by the rest of your company.

Finally, I believe that the worst case scenario for Nintendo is that even if they remain 3rd in terms of consoles sold, they'll still make a lot of money cause they'll probably benefit from each one sold, which some others can't or probably won't be able to say. And I also believe that in that same scenario, the margins won't be as wide as they are now (and let's not forget the increase of people who will own more than one console).

Anyway, this is my opinion, and everyone has theirs, lest just wait and see how stuff comes out.

EDIT: Almost forgot, also, I believe Nintendo will have an extra boost this time around, with the cooler design, DVD playback, online gaming and all the money spent on it and all the hotspots. All of these features being things that players criticized for the GCN.

Jeremy1: for some reason you're kinda starting to sound like a fanboy for Xbox..... or PS2...... can't quite figure out which. honestly..... who the hell do you think cares about looking at the "worldwide market share" when they think of which consoles are better? i sure don't. everybody always says that just about every multi-platform game for Xbox, PS2, and GC will play better on the Xbox. well...... Soul Calibur 2 proved that wrong. the game looked exactly the same on all 3 consoles. don't ask me why Soul Calibur 3 is a PS2 exclusive..... kinda figured they would have done the same thing they did with SC2, having special characters for each console...... but oh well.

Pc_Madness: yeah, that's what i meant. probably just tweaking things here and there to make the experience even better once Revo comes out.

btw, does anybody know if Revolution is going to be it's official name, or is it still it's codename?
