XP vs. Sever 2003

Recommended Posts

Well i have to say Windows Server 2003 is a kick ass os for anything really

i mean it runs alot better then XP

XP is to bloted with crap

i'm so thinking about loading Server 2003 again

because its alot more faster then XP

and you can do alot in Server 2003 same as xp just have to turn services on and know what u are doing first off

and i have secessfully got the Welcome screen back before

but to do that u have to use a non corp version

and covert it into XP Professioanl

then the welcome screen will work

i have also got the User Control Pannel to work

so you can change your user account display Pic

its a awesome os but i will addmit converting it is not a really good idea

who needs the welcome screen pfff

i'm on a domain i don't have it anyway

but yeah i would say go for Server 2003

for performance sure it takes awhile to tweak and get running right

XP is the same

and as for people saying its a Server os get stuffed i say

do what you feel

be different

Cheers Everyone

I think Windows 2000 is the best os

Screw XP, and TOTALLY screw running a SERVER operating system as a DESKTOP o/s. Its just not cricket.

Sorry guys, i'm stepping on toes I bet. But tough sh*t! :p

Oh and Edit: as I just wrote this, my Win2k3 Sp1 server box just totally rooted itself (Corrupted administrator's ntuser.dat) Going to have to rebuild the damn server again.

Was perfectly okay using non-sp1 + all other updates :|

I'm none too impressed atm!

As I said before, MS is telling you it is a server OS, but that doesn't mean it isn't just a more stable version of windows with a few more services than XP (and a few other small, reversible changes).

bad idea, by the time you enable everything u need, it will be slower than XP, plus the compatibility problems (a LARGE amount of software won't work on server 2003)

Yeah, Right !!

I have been using 2003 Enterprise for over a year now.. ONE piece of **** software installer got scared from the SERVER thing and refused to install..

It could as well be cuz of the fact the maker had another version fro servers..etc..

IT's quite similar to XP, alittle more stable..alittle more toys to play with for admins.. and, as a matter of fact, if you tweak your OS the way you want it, you won't be able to tell the difference between XP and 2003.

x64 is 2003 recompiled for 64bit with XP's features added back in

It's hardly just the basic 2003 source code then compiled with a 64-bit compiler

A little bit more to it than that :)
