*Waiting for auto update to do it's thing, as I have never seen it in action*

Works really good. It is actually noticeable and users will use it, which is my big pet peeve with most update systems.

i have a question about extensions, i read before that althought previous extensions may not work on rc2, there is a way to force extensions to be capatible. can anyone please tell me the method in order to get this to work, because there are a few extensions that dont seem to ever update, but is necessary for me to run firefox with that id like to be part of my ff1.5 experience. thanks.

I think the method was to type about:config and find the place where it has the ffx version number and set it to 1.0.7 or whatever the extensions were compatible with. I'm not 100% sure though and this may cause the updater to kick into action needlessly. It was a trick in the pre 1.0 days but. Dont take my word on it. Sure you could do something in about:config but

Furthermore using extensions not made for 1.5 could cause issues so be prepared to launch in safe mode should you get it working.

edit: theres a setting there for extensions.disabledObsolete which by default seems set to true. What if you made that false?

If you have an extension that it says it cant find an update for, then located the download page for that extension and reinstall it. the installer pop up that appears has a check box for overiding maxversion combatibility. check it and voila. it worked for smartsearch and fireftp for me. :D

I installed this on two different computers, and on both the Go button no longer works. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm not too worried about it, I'll probably do a clean install when 1.5 final comes out.

I presume once we have gone live 1.0.7 will report the update available also, or do i need to have 1.5 already for the notification via the actual software?

You assume correctly, 1.0.7 users should get a 1.5 notification.

    • One Drive should be a four letter word. First thing I disable on my computer. If I want to upload something to the cloud, I use a cloud base storage, NOT microsoft. Oh but what about backup. I have done backups since floppy disk eras...it just comes naturally.
    • It does just not OneCloud. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    • Claude Desktop on Linux doesn’t have ram issues. Strange. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    • FWIW this whole 'universal printer driver' challenge has been around since the 1990's! Back in the day it was ADOBE that held the mantle via their portable document format (PDF) which provided the most fidelity between your-layout and your-printer's-capabilities. By the 2000s, Microsoft went with XML-defined formats -- namely XPS. Alongside the [possibly transient] format, and combined with USB standards, the document driver models were evolving. A new generation of hardware adopting different/outdated security models prevented Microsoft from 'forcing' the industry to utilize a single 'Universal' printer driver. Every major OS generation (and obsolescence of older hardware/vendors) moved the needle further along... until 3D Printers (esp. by mid-2010s) changed the maths again! While standard documents had attained sufficient compatibility across OS + printer scenarios (and the slow death of Fax support), there were two major shakers to the hopeful calm: open 3d model formats, and subscription-based printer resourcing (HP and Epson are mostly guilty here). With a sense of calm in the printing industries (whatever is left), there's hope for another push for standardized printer hardware drivers... until another printer hardware trend wrecks havoc and custom drivers become requirements...
    • Can you tell me what the difference between the Moto G and the Moto G Stylus is? They look similar.
