Sony spreading Anti Xbox360 rumours?

Recommended Posts

I seriously doubt the authenticity of that information. I'd like to see this evidence they claim to have. Also, the FACT is that a large portion of the XBOX360 units were faulty. I think, too, that this is Micorosft trying to distract attention from the fact that the units are faulty, and turn it into an anti-Sony publicity campaign. It wouldn't be the first time anyone'd done that, either.

The 360 launch was a flop - supply was low, the launch titles poor, and the units faulty. Now Microsoft want to tell people the problem isn't that bad - its just been inflated by the evil Sony corp., so don't lose trust in the 360!

Sounds an awful lot like Sony's being used as a scapegoat... but then, we know Microsoft doesn't care about good business practices. They've done a lot worse.

I think it is hilarious that you say that a 'large portion' of the shipped units were faulty.

There are always going to be faulty units out there because of mass production, and the people that have them are loud about it. This surely doesn't mean a large portion of all units are faulty, get real.

And I can't believe you people think Microsoft is fabricating this. They're handling the situation fine, if you unit is faulty, they ship you a new one.

I wonder if they'll make a rootkit for their audio cds on xbox 360 lol

Could be true

http://www.free60.org/wiki/XCP

Extended Copy Protection (XCP) is a software package developed by the British company First 4 Internet and sold as a copy protection or digital rights management (DRM) scheme for compact discs. It was used on some CDs distributed by Sony BMG and sparked the 2005 Sony CD copy protection controversy; in that context it is sometimes known as the Sony rootkit.

They wouldn't do that.

A. The PS3 is going to be just as good if not better than the 360. (It isn't going to be worse.)

B. A huge company like Sony wouldn't sink that low.

C. It wouldn't actually make a difference.

well if you had the power.. to turn almost 2 million people into buying your game console.. wouldn't you say one little white lie?

and anything is possible.. dont defend something no one has proof of. im not saying sony did this, they may have, or may not of.. if they did, thats sad

Don't care what they do really... I was interested in the 360 till i heard about all the 'issues' myself. Im sure there are lots of systems out there that work fine but ive read about a lot that dont, like the overheating powerbricks.

I will wait for the REV and PS3 to arrive then maybe the XBOX360 Rev.b Will be out by then and i can decide. ;)

What a great, enlightened point of view. I'm sure you really are proud of yourself for saying such great statements. Furthermore, you said it in english, go you

Perhaps your point would have come across better if you could actually spell 'Xbox' and 'Japanese' correctly ... actually, no it wouldn't as it was so absurd that I pity you. Sony would certainly be willing to play dirty (as can be seen with the recent rootkit debacle) - they have a multi-billion dollar debt and the Playstation brand is one of the few areas that is profitable, though I'm most definitely not agreeing they did this as the internet is full of vicious rumours / outright lies. As for Xbox fanboys being idiots... why Xbox and not Playstation? I could understand it if you said that any fanboy was an idiot (a bit of a crude way to express it, though at least understandable) but by narrowing it down to Xbox fanboys it just means you come across as a staunch [barely literate] Sony supporter.

I really don't think this thread is going anywhere... Sony fans will accuse Microsoft / Microsoft 'fanboys' of framing Sony or attack the X360 for being a disaster; Microsoft fans will support this unsubstanciated story or use Sony's recent history to claim that this is likely. Neither side has any ground to stand on, it is just an excuse for angry teenagers to diss Sony or Microsoft and throw a fit when anyone challenges them.

Meh I doubt it to be honest, why would Sony take such a big risk? And no i'm not a fan boy you foo' -.- ; )

Well, they took it by using that rootkit on cd's. I?m not saying that this rumors are true, but wouldn?t be surprised after what happened with the music cd?s.

lmao, all major corporations do this....

look at Microsoft and Apple

All linux diehards claim you cant run windows 5 seconds without a crash of some sort.

but honestly, i dont think that sony would waste time by spreading rumors about overheating, they have far better ways of getting back..

actualy this wouldent suprise me if this was M$ fabricateing the whole thing!

586855442

Ya well I wouldn't be surprised if it was Sony fabricating it to make Microsoft look like they were fabricating it about Sony fabricating rumours about Microsoft's X-Box.

They wouldn't do that.

C. It wouldn't actually make a difference.

586855141

B. umm... VW- Enron, AIG, the list goes on! (different lows)

C. yeah- it could make a difference- surely you've seen how quickly word spreads on the internet- and how influencial it can be.

Besides- marketing campaigns aren't unlike political campaigns.

In this case, it really doesn't matter which console is better. With the launch date for the PS3 so far off, one of Sony's only options (if this whole thing is actually true) appears to be to resort to anti-marketing in an attempt to retain their share of the market base until the PS3 is released.

Although, seeing as how the chances of this actually working are quite slim, I don't know why Sony would take such a risk.

I wouldn't doubt that Sony would do something like that but untill there is proof, I don't believe it.

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two.
