Possible to remove user?

Recommended Posts

As I'm getting older and maturing, and with the new board's nickname feature, I believe it is in some need of cleaning of the members with 0 posts who havent logged on in a set amount of time

In my case, "brandon" hasnt logged on since december 2003, and well with the new board coming up I really want to use my real name as my "nick name" So maybe a suggestion to do some cleaning of old names not used

This has been asked many times before (though not always relating to Neowin v5) but unless the staff has drastically changed their stance on this issue, I doubt it is going to happen.

Well it would be with set criteria for a board-wide purge

such as deleting every account with 0 posts and havent logged on in over 6 months or a year

Read the message boards people!!

How-to: Can I change my username to..., The do's & do not's Posted on Feb 20, 2004 by Neobond in Site & Forum Issues <-- fourth point down!

i like that idea, but if that was to happen, i think we should send an email to the registered email address stating wats gonna happen, give them a week to respond/take action and if they dont, then delete there accounts.

but atm, the staff have enough on there plates.

maybe after the move is made?

EDIT: After some quick searching, I found this quote from Joel in this thread:

The final word is this; if the name is in use but belongs to an inactive account, ask a Super or Admin. You may get it, you may not. There are factors we check before allowing the change.

all a smart person neandrathal has to do is search THIS SECTION for "nickname"

what if they are registered her for other reasons than posting. Reasons could be they have certain topics set to "watch" or they just registered to vote in polls.

I dont believe posting should be a requirement of membership. Does adding comments to news items add to post count? I never checked but if so thats another reason.

He means that he hasn't logged onto his account since dec '03, that's not the registration date.

I just recently asked for a username change, and someone was using it, it was granted. :)
