PS3: Unreal Tournament 2007

so basicly were just judging this because it has no unified online system? Why cant we just gauge it on HOW fun the game is?!?

Think about this for a moment, if this game rocks in every aspect meaning the single player is equally fun as the multiplayer wouldn't that just eliminate the need for a unified system? I mean is it hard to select online play, go into a room, set the game type just like xbox live, and enjoy the game and i mean if its fun whats gonna matter? a unified online system? or Fun / Gameplay?

and far as this article goes, it was a good read bias or not since this isn't only for the ps3 but for the PC(lets not forget)...

No, I wasn't judging the game based on the unified online system at all, I was just disputing with someone about what the meaning of trolling was, apparently he was a little confused.

Anyway, I wasn't judging the game at all actually, I was judging the source, but that's a whole 'nother thread I guess.

You still dont know what flame baiting is do you....sad, just sad...

ummm the same graphics capability of a $2000+ computer with state of the art video card being done flawlessly on a potentially sub $500 console? i think thats pretty good. but also, how far do u expect a PC developers imagination to stretch, really?

you completely missed my point. sony has hyped its cell processor (and the ps3) to be leap years ahead of anything on the market today in terms of processing power. want some links?

secondly, a lot of systems that are released have the graphics capability of the top of the line computers that are available at the time. you make it sounds like its magic that sony is able to pull that off on a cheap system. these consoles have to sell well for years right? anyways just look at the xbox 360...

finally, i'm not saying the developers need to create some game that will be the end all game of console history. I'm saying they could make it better than a pc version, not exactly the same. honestly that isn't asking much at all if you think about it

The PS3 is not more powerful than the 360.

0/10 for false information.

Unless you work with Sony designing the PS3, I'm not sure anyone really knows at this point which system is more powerful. Even then, does core system specs make it more powerful or more features ... ? Only time will tell.

I'm sure you know more than John Carmack, just to name one developer that have spoken in the matter, when it comes to how powerful the two consoles are.

I was being sarcastic by the way.

theedaysdwn had a whole different thread on how it is not more powerful, too lazy to find the link but it's in one of these threads on the main console gamer page. it all has to do with bottlenecks i presume, and it seems very plausible, but i dont think we know for sure yet, it's got to be released first because you never know, Sony might update their specs to account for the bottlenecks.

I dont think i missed the point of your post, basically you feel underwhelmed by the power of the ps3, again i point to the 360, because apparently you cant leave it out of the conversation, and say that almost all the launch titles dont look great at all, and why is that? its upto the developer to tap the power of the system, not sony- So please try and understand my post- You have no idea what the potential of the PS3 is and if you ****ed about underwhelmed grpahics blame the developers and not your clich sony hype argument.

Oh and just ignore threedaysdwn when he makes ANY comments about the PS3, he sooo M$ bias he ****es bright green ;)

right now anything he says about a machine noone has seen is absolute nonsense, and even if he had any valid points, they can be countered, just as he counters points himself, basically hes a good debator, thats about it. I dont mean to insult anyone, but what else do you call someone trying desperatley to sway people to his opinion that the "PS3 is not as powerful as the 360" with no real facts?

So everyone can see from example, THIS is trolling.

Um, so you dont have a problem with jmole's flame-bait on page 1 of this thread, the one which opened the flood-gates?

Sweeney (lead programmer) said he was happy Sony went with NVIDIA for PS3's graphics processor. He also said that its developer friendly and "...allows us to get the best-looking games up and running much more quickly."

He he, Sweeney is probably the biggest sell-out in the industry.

Ut-oh you better report me or get the thread locked, as always. Nevermind I will save you the trouble and report myself. REPORTED!

How convienent, someone says something postive about programming on the PS3 and now he is a sellout. Edited by jmole

Never said I did, so why dont you not assume something like that buddy.

I do feel his comment was flame baiting, but I also feel that even if he didn't post it, there would still be similar comments to follow.

Ouch! Pxleyes, I understand where you're coming from but I have to call you out on this comment. You're saying trolling is OK because the other side will do it anyways? Trolling is trolling and it just seems you're against PS3 trolling, but XBox trolling is OK.

No, I'm not saying trolling is ok. I am simply saying that regardless of the troll post on the first page, the odds are that trolls from the opposite side would still do their own trolling.

I am hardly trying to defend the initial troll post on the first page. Just an observation as a pattern of other threads.

I should have been more clear. The PS3 doesn't actually exist yet. Until it does, his claim that it's more powerful than the X360 is rubbish.

If the PS3 matches the specs currently made available by Sony, it will have some advantages (theoretical geometry/vertex horsepower) and some disadvantages (architecture is bad for high resolutions, AA, and HDR).

Since it isn't released, it's impossible to say anything for sure.

John Carmack said that the PS3 might have a slightly more powerful CPU. First off, he was probably referring to Sony's theoretical numbers when he said this. But as I've said a dozen times, the PS3's problem won't be the Cell - it will be the overall system architecture (in particular, the memory architecture and the GPU).

I have no idea what additional features/specs/online support Sony plans to offer. But until they announce something, I'll assume that they think the Cell and a couple exclusive games are going to win this battle for them. But Microsoft and Nintendo have realized the importance of community to gamers. So far it doesn't look like Sony has.

Its good you reported yourself. Because this thread was going well till u posted

No, it's called stating the obvious about what goes on in the console section and joking about it, but aparently people take it too seriously. It's no different then what gets posted on here on daily basis, its unfortunate that they can't just shrug it off or ignore it or even laugh about it, but take it as an insult like a console was their child or something and it was being offended.

And your the one who really shouldn't lecture me on flame baiting: Neowin

many of these PS3 claims are really forcing me to think of it as BS3

Obviously it must exist or developers wouldn't be making games for it.

It's unbelievable that you keep saying this despite the fact that there are PS3 developers saying they are using high resolutions, AA, and HDR in their games. Edited by jmole

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 changelog: Added 'Reset to recommended' button for the Options. General fixes and improvements. WACUP 1.99.51.24568 Preview changelog: Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when doing some of the drag + drop actions within the media library window Fixed a loading crash seen related to a problem with some of the artwork cache image files being restored which should now be better handled allowing for the bad image to be removed without it failing Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when the internal metadata cache clearing is triggered which could block the main ui thread for too long with this now being moved to a background thread Fixed some performance issues with some of the methods related to determining artwork support which mainly affected the local library import / refresh (this is still slower for some compared to other players because there's more data & artwork aspects being checked for which means doing more processing on a single file despite the best of attempts to reduce duplicate / heavy processing where possible) Fixed a crash with the JTFE based missing files hotkey which no one seems to have used for an age for this to appear (maybe it's time to seriously consider stripping out features that aren't being used) Fixed how some of the file types which use extra information to reference their sub-songs is handled which was preventing some from being correctly resolved back to their base file (noticed fixing above) Fixed an issue with the handling of files with underscores in their filepath which wasn't being correctly handled causing some of the filename to be lost when shown as the title if title reading is delayed Fixed a few things that might be behind NotSoDirect not being stable for some setups though am still not certain that the changes done for this are going to fully resolve the problem from the crash reports Fixed the OS toast handling when there's no prior shortcut in the OS start menu to now create the shortcut (needed to allow the yes/no buttons for the new build / post-release toast) to be done as a hidden one so it's less likely to cause annoyance for those not wanting to see it whilst still allowing this less than ideal OS api implementation requirement to be met to avoid toasts without the needed buttons Fixed a regression when moving from taglib1 to taglib2 which broke some of the handling in place to allow for external programs to still access files when wacup has a held open cached instance of the file Everything else Updated cppwinrt (gen_win10shell.dll) to 3.0.260520.1 (26 May 2026) Updated libcurl (libcurl.dll) to 8.2.1 (24 Jun 2026) Updated Monkey's Audio (in_ape.dll) to 13.15 (28 Jun 2026) Updated mpg123 (mpg123.dll) to 1.33.6 (6 Jun 2026) Updated OpenSSL (libcurl.dll) to 3.5.7 (9 Jun 2026) Updated pugixml to 1.16 (16 Jun 2026) Updated taglib (tag2.dll) to 2.3.0 (11 May 2026) Updated vgmstream (in_vgmstream.dll) to the latest Git commit from 28 Jun 2026 Download: WACUP 64-bit | 9.6 MB (Freeware) Download: WACUP 32-bit View: WACUP Website | Screenshots Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
