[Cursor] Anti-Aliased Cursors 1.5

Recommended Posts

they just look kinda smudged to me

They're not smudged. They're anti-aliased. There's a big difference  What I've done is remake the original cursors with smooth edges.

I'll make a set of black/inverted cursors tomorrow then. I'll post it in this forum to let you guys know :)

Nice! How did you make 'em AA?

Well I first captured all the original cursors, and got them in Photoshop. Then it was a combination of modifying the existing ones pixel by pixel and reconstructing certain parts from scratch. It took me 2 full days to get v1, and then for v1.5 another day to modify them (see changelog for changes).

Seems it was well worth it though :) I hate aliasing with a passion :p

There's a much simpler method: copy them into photoshop, resize them to like 400% origional size, and resize them back to their origional size. Since phtoshop used bicubic interpolation, the resulting cursor will look anti-aliased :D

Since modifying all 6 or 7 individual cursors will just be too much for some people, I created this reg file to automate the process. Dump all the individual icon files into %systemdrive%\Windows\Cursors\. Import the registry entries. Then open mouse properties in the control panel and select "AA Cursors" from the Scheme drop down list and apply.

You are a legend!! thanks for that
