Buggati Veyron video 0 - 210 mph in cockpit cam

Too bad its pwned by the Saleen S7 1000BHP model....

Faster acceleration, similar top speed .... a million (dollars?) less in price

oh and better handeling due to being 500kg's lighter

But sure... its a nice car if you got a nice fat bank account

note that 1000bhp isn't so hard to achieve you can get that much power from a corvette or a dodge viper... but they are not even close to the technology of this car, producing power is one thing but using it a something totally diffrent

hahahha

rofl what are you smoking cause i want some.

putting a mustang and a viper in the same category.. shame on you.

but in response to the above poster, the car costs about 7mil usd to produce and is being solt at aout the same as about 1.5 mil usd. the reason being is that vw (yes its a vw, based on the vw w16 concept car) manufactored the car as the equivilant of a tech demo. I think clarkson was right in saying this car is the equivilant to the car world as the concord was to the airplane world. Sadly though i dont think a single person will ever be able to drive one of these in our lives save winning the lottery. And I dont think anything is going to come close technologically wise for a long time.

it truely is a thing of beauty.

Actually, if you are talking about the Volkswagen Concept car that ran at Nardo, it was a w12. The veyron has a w16 made from 2 Audi v8s.

I didn't put the cars in the same category and its obvious from my post.

I gave the Veyron the credit of using 1000BHP to the full potential.

It's more Audi than anything else :p

It has an Audi DSG transmission, and Audi engine, an Audi Quattro drivetrain. Although technically Bugatti falls under VW's control (whereas Lambo falls entirely under Audi's control).

And yes, Audi is owned by VW, but there are a lot of distinctions between Audi-developed technology (FSI, TDI, DSG, Quattro, and all of Audi's engines like the 1.8T, 2.0T, 4.2L, 5.0L, etc) and VW technology (VR6 and other VW-developed engines like the inline-5 in the mk5 Jetta and the various VR6 engines).

Heres the Bugatti episode on topgear thats not a torrent...

A bit crap, but you should get the idea.

POWAAAAAH!

Thanks for that. The car has 10 radiators. lol 100 litre petrol tank that you can finish in 12 minutes driving at the top speed. The saleen has nothing on this. this is magnificent auto engineering...5 years in the making.

crazy stuff on that top gear episode...what amazes is the ?5,000,000 PRODUCTION cost, but only a ?850,000 retail price. does anyone know if they made more than 1? or how many they made xactly? cause i wouldnt think VW would make so many at around ?4,150,000 los:huh:uh:

Yes, thats true. You can buy them, and they make such a loss because it was built to see if it was possible.

This is my main annoyance at the Veyron. I'm sure that the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo etc could make as good a car with money being no object but they have to make cars that are financially viable. That's why I still think the F1 is the greatest car ever :D

Main annoyance? That's the greatest thing about the Veyron!! That VW was willing to step up and do it! I'm glad it's not a Ferrari or whatever...it's even more of a statement that it essentially came out of nowhere from Bugatti.

I won't call a big company like VW that has Audi, Lamborghini and Bugatti under its control "out of nowhere"

besides, Bugatti been around for ages

Bugatti have been at the super (hyper?) car game for a long time - they are not a new name. Its just that the EB110 nailed them really and it took a long time before any company dared to take that name on and make a product worthy of its heritage!

VW/Audi group have done it justice and produced a masterpiece of engineering - and in the process they have silenced a LOT of naysayers and doubters who said it couldn't be done. It has been done, and its a masterpiece. My only gripe is that i'll probably never see one, never get to sit in one, and never ever get the chance to drive one :(

VW are taking a huge loss on each Veyron but its basically done three things for them:

a) Along with Lamborghini, got them well and truely comfortable in the supercar market

b) Proved to be an invaluable piece of engineering research for their engineers

c) Given the advertising and bragging rights beyond their wildest dreams. I mean who isn't talking about the Veyron now its here?! :)

If you really look into the details it will baffle you. lol

I just noticed the Mad Torque coming out at the RPM level. 2200 rpm 992 lb ft. jessuss!  when this car moves off hard it must kick you in the chest with those 4 turbo's.

Torque 922 lb ft @ 2200rpm

Yeah.. I bet you really feel that sort of torque!!

Phenominal power really.

Oh and er.. you might all enjoy this 'in car' video of the Veyron cruising round a track.. the guy isn't really pushing it but the noise of it! Oh my GOD!

 Yes, I know Bugatti has been around for a long time. My point was, it's been dead for awhile. While still significant, it wouldn't be as big of a splash if Ferrari, or Lamborghini, or any of the other established supercar brands made a car with the Veyron's specs -- because they have modern stepping stones to get there, and whether or not they're owned by the same company as Bugatti makes no difference to the general public. They're different brands -- and since Bugatti really had no other modern cars when the Veyron was concieved, it was a big leap for the brand -- hence why I said "out of nowhere" -- even if they did have the engineering backing of VW/Audi.

Thats true I suppose but then its also the case that Bugatti was previously known for its slightly outlandish cars - the EB110 had a 60 valve, quad cam 3.5 litre V12 with 4 turbo's strapped to it. It was sort of inevitable that the successor to that car had to be something similar, just on steroids ;)

Although the fact that it was in the hands of VW would have suggested that (as you say) something more sensible was going to be the end result.. guess that wasn't going to be the case :)

you can let an F1 car get to 150mph before the bugatti takes off and it the bugatti will still beat the F1 to 200MPH. They did a whole show in this car on final gear, its simply awesome. but it uses a full tank of gas in 12 minutes ^_^.

Well no, it doesn't - not in normal driving anyway. Will use it all in 12 minutes if its going absolutely flat out though. But then what do you expect if you're doing 252MPH in a 16 cylinder, 8 litre, quad turbo hyper car? ;)

One thing I noticed about it that was sort of weird but sounded cool was that it must use some air assisted / pressure system on the brakes - on Top Gear, a couple of times when Clarkson pulled up in front of the camera to stop, there was a sort of hiss noise like the sort a bus makes when it pulls up. Anyone know any more about that or whats causing the noise?

This car in all honestly looks like ****. It's very cool, very fast and we would all love to own one, but I don't understand the people who rave about how sexy it is... The hood of this car reminds me of a flaccid penis, hanging down between two testicular front fenders. The back looks like it's not even a part of the car, like it's half an eggshell held on by the spoiler that cracked through it, that's eventually supposed to come off and reveal the real rear end. This car has many strengths but sexiness is not one of them :shiftyninja:

Wow, what a very detailed, grotesque description... :|

How can the company survive by building monsters? 800,000 quid does grow on trees, but imagine how many you'd have to cut down to get that much!

    • So you think I voted out because i am anti-immigrant. I am fed up with those that come over and think that we owe them something. The ones that are at the moment coming over from France where they are already in a safe country because they think and no doubt will get everything chucked at them. While people who were born and bred here get very little. I have nothing against as i have said before those that come here and work. In fact I know full well that our NHS would struggle without them. I do have a problem with those that come over here and try to push their religion and their way of life onto us. My reasons for voting out was because of what the E.U is and is also becoming. I did not agree with Freedom of movement, not because I don't want people over here, but because people need to be checked before being allowed to cross borders and that goes both ways. But my main thing was because the E.U is becoming if not already a united states of Europe. The only reason countries like Poland and Romania joined was because they had no money. When my partner left Poland, she had nothing, Poland had nothing, that is why she left. Wanted to learn something and earn a living. The E.U would have us back according to Michel Barnier. https://www.euronews.com/my-eu...ator-barnier-tells-euronews Why are you so scared to say what country you are in?
