A little notice for people who are downloading through BitTorrent, please seed, it won't be fair that I (and possibly some others) are seeding this fine release, you'll be helping everyone if you seed just for a couple of hours. If you don't know how to seed here's how you can do it: once your download is complete leave your BitTorrent client open, it's that easy.

On: http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedho...net/mystats.php

the link displays: AutoPatcher_XP_Dec05_ENU_Update.exe

but the URL displays: http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedho...ite.exe.torrent

Oops, my bad! :pinch:

Fixed

Thanks for the new release guys

Unfortunately, this one seems to be not liking the computers here

I work at a computer repiar shop so we're constantly installing windows and updating machines (which is why Autopatcher is so good)

Anyway, this latest release seems to fail while loading

...

ok...

i tried 3 times to load the program and it just worked

very strange

Previous errors were Module Panic on "xxxxx"

Modules like "Add 'Royal' Theme" and something to do with balloon tips and one was about a control panel shortcut

loading the program again and it failed

thats 1 success from 4 tries

all different Module Panics

strange

Any ideas?

Idea? Hmmmm.....yeah. Did you uninstall the previous version? That's one of the rules when you are installing a new release from AutoPatcher, then you have uininstall the pervious version. AutoPatcher doesn't do that for you.

What, U mean he installed dec update on empty sys, with no previous AP installed(even lite)???

That seem strange enough for someone working in a computer shop....

Capn Keelhauler did you install AP lite, full or just an update?

And yes if machine was in use for a while- programs installed, deinstalled,... there can be a potencial problem with installing AP, but not with AP, cause AP is not a detecting utility, to find out if your system is missing some sys files, or .ocx .dll routines, it bases on assumption your system is as it was when first installed, at least in regard to main system files.

i got the same error message with the Update File.

i don't think this has to do with uninstalling the previous AP cause previous APs is not on my computer.

any help would be great.

thanks

Hello,

THX to my good old friend trojan from n0content we have a new mirror of nearly all autopatcher versions.

Look at: http://212.112.249.4/openFTP/STUFF/%23_Autopatcher_/

If you download anything click on the google adsense links to help keeping this free service running!

But if possible, use bittorrent or the onefile hoster like filefront for downloading. This will help to save our bandwith!!

Hmm, I just stumbled accross the Softpedia page for Autopatcher XP and they've given it an award:

softpedia_pick_award_b.gif

Well done to the AP team!

Maybe we should include those icons in the main postings and on the Neowin software news page?

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
