AutoPatcher XP December 2005

Recommended Posts

When running the Autopatcher for December (Dutch version) I receive the following show-stopper:

module panic on productenoverzicht van derden!

You are running Windows XP Professional SP2 (locale 1043) + IE6.

This release is not suitable for your system.

35602: Key is not unique in collection.

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Idea? Hmmmm.....yeah. Did you uninstall the previous version? That's one of the rules when you are installing a new release from AutoPatcher, then you have uininstall the pervious version. AutoPatcher doesn't do that for you.

Sorry for the wait

I installed AP full (english) onto English language test computers that had no previous versions of AP installed. The errors occured on both PCs

However, Ive since used AP on about 5 customer computers with no problems.

So it seems to work fine on new installs (which is where I need it most)

And those command line switches are great guys! thanks!

@echo off

"c:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\AutoPatcher.exe" /noeula /unattend:t1 /noreboot /defaults:defaults.txt

Many thanks for the work you do.

I have downloaded the December XP SP2 AutoPatcher from this thread - http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedhosting.net/mystats.php - , this link - http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedhosting.net/mystats.php - and this torrent - http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedhosting.net/torrents/AutoPatcher_2000_Dec05_ENU_Full.exe.torrent - twice now.

The first time I downloaded and ran AutoPatcher without taking much notice of it. AFTER I had selected and executed the updates I wanted I noticed/discovered that I had installed the Win2K version of AutoPatcher. I assumed that I had mistakenly downloaded the wrong version of AutoPatcher, so I carefully downloaded the WinXP version above.

On running the newly downloaded version the default installation directory is "AutoPatcher 2K".

I have two questions:

1. Is this, in fact, the correct version of AutoPatcher for my WinXP system?

2. If I have run and installed the Win2K version of AutoPatcher on my WinXP system, will it have caused any damage?

With thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

1. Is this, in fact, the correct version of AutoPatcher for my WinXP system?

No! You need the Windows XP Version of AP!

Use http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedho...ull.exe.torrent instead.

2. If I have run and installed the Win2K version of AutoPatcher on my WinXP system, will it have caused any damage?

Normally no! But i'm not sure about it. Ap normally detects your windows version and disallow the installation if the win version is wrong!

Once again.

1. You downloaded the win 2k version over bt

2. You ran it on a windowx xp system

??? 3. ap starts and displays you the update choice screen ???

Thanks for that, Tarnatos.

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. Yes followed by a system restart to complete installation of my selected updates.

dont worry about it messing up your system, autopatcher only makes available stuff that applies to the system its run on!

Thank you for the re-assurance, TBA.

That was so cool, the post is allready paying off... :punk:

What do you think about merging FAQ & Common Problems&Solutions in one FAQ post

In regards to this (module panic error):

2) 35602: Key is not unique in collection

You've probably installed the release over an older version, and modules are conflicting.

Delete the folder your installing to, and reinstall the latest version.

Only 'update' releases should be installed on a previous release.

Ok, I have not installed a previous release and this error occured using the Dec Full package.

BUT, I wonder, How many of us have made custom ISO's using nLite or whatever containing hotfixes.

What I am wondering is, can using ISO's created with nLite containing hotfixes, cause problems with Autopatcher XP?

I also found another oddity, I installed the Full Package (1st time) - and got the panic error, so I uninstalled it. I then installed it again because I wanted to record my exact error message, but for some freaky reason, it worked fine. (Very odd installing the same package the second time worked).

Hi There

Wow and I thought I was the only one...

I tracked the problem down, by installing the security releases from AP_Dec. in blocks of three.

And found the release KB890859 (security update MS05-018) to be causing the issue. Microsoft has issued a

hot fix for this on Dec 27, which unfortunately is only available through their paid support service, and is not issued to the general public. I wish they or someone would because I dislike dealing with MS support.

Quote fro MS

"CAUSE

The Stop error occurs when the computer accesses a NULL DeviceObject object in a volume parameter block. This volume parameter block access is caused by a race condition. This race condition occurs when the computer mounts volumes on removable media devices such as CD or DVD drives.

This Stop error is more likely to occur in the following types of computers:? On a computer that is stressed

? On a computer that uses multiple processors or hyper-threading

? On a computer that mounts volumes frequently on removable media devices"

My scenario exactly

If you want to read for yourself...

Other than the networking problems others have experienced, AP has been good to me.

Thanks Guys

Wow thax man, I will rwmove the bloody sec update  :)

Hey

When I remove even one tweak from security tweaks, I get prerequisite/parent error when loading AP, so I either have to remove them the all or none. ????!!!!

Is it possible than no one from the development team doesn't know the solution!!!???

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
