As of yet, the nVidia LAN on nForce2 mobos doesn't seem to have functioning drivers. If you have a mobo with 2 ethernet cards (like my A7N8X Deluxe), you could possibly get the other one to work. My 3Com LAN worked out of the box with Vista 5270.

And if you're trying to get nForce2 Soundstorm audio to work, use Windows Update (not the website via IE7, but the built-in updater in the Control Panel) and it will download a beta NVidia driver. In my case, this only installed drivers for one of the two audio devices in the "Other Devices" section. I had to right click on the second one and update the drivers (automatic). I then got the Audio Codec Interface and MCP Audio Processig Unit listed in my Sound, video and game controllers section. YMMV depending on your specific mobo, I know Asus did some funky (nonstandard) stuff with the Soundstorm processor on its A7N8X Deluxe.

There's no nvmixer included, but I'll take stereo sound over crappy beep any day!

It is possible to get the LAN to work, though it's quite complex (involves tunneling through XP's interface). Your cheap way out would be to buy a common and cheap networking card.

Also, you might want to see here, although slightly out of date with your build:

I managed to get network and audio working on 5112 by using the 6.14 beta driver, but I have an nForce 2 - but IIRC, the nforce 3 uses the same drivers for the most part. The 6.14s seem to work on a clean install, but I found them to have the same problem as the nvidia "vista beta" drivers, or the stable 5.10 drivers for 2000/XP if one of them had been installed first. And another note, don't install the AGPgart driver, or Glass is shattered.

Hey BigBunny,

I've actually got the Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo as well, and was thinking of trying out vista 5270. Hopefully I can just follow your directions and all should be ok.

Anything else I should know about the mobo?

Also, what about video card drivers. I have a fairly old Nvidia GeForce4 card. hich drivers will work with those?

Thanks in advance

  • 3 weeks later...

I for one couldnt get the ethernet to work with 6.14 beta drivers, or the drivers on their main page.

Hi friends, after 3 days fighting, i can browse the internet, connect my MSN Messenger and post this reply from my Vista Beta 2 (build 5270) with a nForce2 Ethernet (MSI K7N2) :D

I try a mix of drivers at this work perfectly for me...

Check the screen capture for drivers version.

Good look and regards

Alessio

Here can see the connection working and the Vista version. ;)

Good luck!

Hi friends, i don't take note about the process, but think i have all in my brain...

Let's go again...

Here can download from my server the file nForce2LAN-VistaBeta2.zip which have both drivers, the Bus Enumerator and the Network Controller.

1) Extract zip file to a folder

2) Go to Control Panel, Classic View, Add Hardware

3) After check automatically, you select to add manually

4) On Type of Hardware, select the first option "List All" (or something)

5) Go to Have Disk... and select the extracted "Enumerator" folder and install "NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator"

6) If after install you don't have a crash Blue Screen (BSOD) continue, if not go to step 11)

7) Now, in Device Manager, Other Devices and double-click in Ethernet Controller

8) Driver, Update Driver, I don't have the disc..., Browse my computer..., Let me pick..., Have Disk...

9) Select the extracted "Ethernet" folder and install "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller"

10) Well, now you must restart Windows

11) Start Windows in Safe Mode (Press F8 before OS Loading)

12) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers

13) Sort by Name and delete all files nvnetbus*.*

14) Restart Windows and the NIC is working!!! :D

I do in a clean installation, have configured fixed IP address, dns and gateway...

Sorry my bad english, i from Argentina :shiftyninja:

Good Luck and Regards! ;)

My board its a An35n ultra (Nforce2 chipset) and i followed the Alessio Garavano and it worked find.

The only warning its that its need to be done on a fresh reformated windows vista, the zip driver pack that he provides to us works.

The ethernet card work now but the nvnetbus Enumerator doesn`t at all.Yo will have the Exclamation mark

and saying that the drivers doesn`t start or doesn`t has the necesary driver load. What i did its just disable the device and all seems ok. well hope it helps to the Nforce2 users. BTW thank you so much My friend ARGENTINO!

Hi there i`m back.

WIRELESSMAN i see you are looking a SB live 5.1 driver for Vsta 5270 eviroment, and i think i got the ones

for you friend.

This are modded drivers from audigy 4 cards that ``works`` for SB live 5.1 , i used to have a sb live 5.1 card and i tried this driver becoming very suprized on the performance and sound, i tried the PAx-Fi driver on my Audigy 2 value card vista 5270 enviroment , its worked the first time i attented to install it.

Now i tried to post the files wich is around 35 MB but there was an error and the page just closed before finishing the upload files.

What you do once you have the driver, its extract it, and then look into Pax-Fi/driver and then run the creative setup utility, the setup manager will pop up and then tick the driver installation and tick the Overwrite shared creative audio drivers files.

Let it go and if all is good you will have the sound working give me your mail so i can give you the file and you can poste it in your server aswell. ok let me know later

    • Here is how I fixed Windows 11 not booting after clean installation by Taras Buria Story time. A couple of weeks ago, I experienced a very odd thing with my computers. I was trying to reinstall Windows 11 on my primary device, and everything was going smoothly until the installer performed the first restart. After that, my computer entered the boot disk selection screen instead of continuing the setup process. Huh, that's odd, said I, and selected Windows Boot Manager only to see it fall back into the same screen right away. Then I tried booting from the USB drive with the same result—the PC kept returning to the boot device selection screen, and removing the drive would send my PC to UEFI, again, with no way to launch Windows 11. I fired up my spare laptop, which has been sitting unused for quite a while, to see if I am dealing with a defective USB drive. Nope, Windows 11 installed and started without issues. After trying another drive and checking all the possible settings in UEFI, I decided to try disabling Secure Boot. Lo and behold, Windows 11 started as it should have been in the first place, continued the setup process, and reached the initial setup screen. Victory! After I finished the setup and applied all updates, I re-enabled Secure Boot, and Windows 11 started without issues. Some time later, I tried reinstalling Windows 11 on my laptop only to experience similar issues, with UEFI claiming a Secure Boot violation. I checked whether the drive works on my main PC, and yes, it installed Windows 11 without errors. I scratched my head, went to UEFI, turned off Secure Boot, and installed Windows 11 without issues. After that, I enabled Secure Boot. Note: I used the official Media Creation Tool app for my USB drive. Also, UEFI was properly configured for Windows 11, including no Legacy Mode, a GPT-partitioned drive, and TPM and Secure Boot enabled. From my experience, if you are dealing with similar symptoms, I recommend two things: If you use old Windows 11 install media, create a new one with the latest Windows 11 release, especially if you know your PC already has the latest Secure Boot certificates. If you cannot create a new one, turn off Secure Boot, complete the installation, download all available updates, and then re-enable Secure Boot in UEFI. Note that you need to turn off Secure Boot after installing Windows 11. Otherwise, the installer won't run, claiming a hardware requirements mismatch. I believe the problem hides in Secure Boot certificates that expire this month. Microsoft is currently rolling out new certificates, and maybe a mismatch was causing these issues for both of my systems. I am out of my depth to make a definitive statement; this article is flagged as "Opinion," as I only share my experience and some tips on how to fix the problem. If some of you possess deeper knowledge and understanding of the situation, please share it in the comments. As for everyone else struggling with computers not booting after a clean install, the two steps above should get you out of the pickle.
    • I gave the tool a chance the other day to make a USB. An hour later it was stuck at 0% downloaded. I downloaded the official ISO, downloaded Rufus, and made the USB myself in 15 min.
    • <Moved to software discussion and support> I've got fond memories of Winamp. Changing the skins, the different visualisations etc. But now I just need a simple music player. MSN messenger would be another one, MSN Messenger Plus (I think?) offered so many different plugins. But again, it probably wouldn't work for me these days. And then there is miRC. i think it's still going these days, but lord i had fun with that back in the day. Now it's mostly stuff like Discord, WhatsApp group chats, Signal, Telegram... /me is showing his age...
    • ive always been fascinated by old software this is an old video player for windows from apple
