I think he is reffering to the gurus`s remix driver 8.22, wich made the nvnetbus Enumerator to work as normal man, but anyway before this you help me a lot.

Here can download from my server the file nForce2LAN-VistaBeta2.zip which have both drivers, the Bus Enumerator and the Network Controller.

1) Extract zip file to a folder

2) Go to Control Panel, Classic View, Add Hardware

3) After check automatically, you select to add manually

4) On Type of Hardware, select the first option "List All" (or something)

5) Go to Have Disk... and select the extracted "Enumerator" folder and install "NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator"

6) If after install you don't have a crash Blue Screen (BSOD) continue, if not go to step 11)

7) Now, in Device Manager, Other Devices and double-click in Ethernet Controller

8) Driver, Update Driver, I don't have the disc..., Browse my computer..., Let me pick..., Have Disk...

9) Select the extracted "Ethernet" folder and install "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller"

10) Well, now you must restart Windows

11) Start Windows in Safe Mode (Press F8 before OS Loading)

12) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers

13) Sort by Name and delete all files nvnetbus*.*

14) Restart Windows and the NIC is working!!! :D

This method didnt work for me and i got stuck in an endless reboot loop after step 6.

I booted from my last known good configuration and installed the drivers from the zip via device manager and all worked fine.

I can't seem to understand what all the fuss is about. Pardon me if i sound stupid but Vista installed without any problems on my NFORCE2 setup. Here are my details :

AthlonXP 2600+ Processor

Asus A7N8X-E-DLX Motherboard (BIOS ver 1013)

512 MB DDR RAM

256 MB GeForce 6200 Card

160 GB Seagate Barracuda (2 Partitions - One for XP, Second for Vista)

I guess those details should be sufficient. Vista installed in exactly 18 minutes. I was quite impressed. When I did the final reboot, it even configured my built in ethernet port and connected to my broadband connection wihout any help from my side. I noticed there was a slight DNS issue, so i applied the DNS values and there I was - online!

The only problem I had was that there was no sound. Vista couldn't find my onboard sound device. Searched on the net and came up with Realtek's driver and that issue was resolved too.

I'm now up and running (playing my music and chatting away on Yahoo Messenger) just as i was in XP!

So, you're using the Beta 2 of Vista also? Because that's what this thread references.
