moviestallion
hi all you have to do is go to control panel > printers and hardware > game controllers > add > microsoft sidewinder gamepad and it will work you dont need any software for xp:bandit:
tmorris1
The Sidewinder 4.0 works fine with USB controllers, but form what I hear if you have a gameport controller with version 3.x you are screwed. Version 4 is only available when you purchase a USB controller, you can't download it. I luckily have the Gamepad Pro USB and Forcefeedback Wheel USB and they work great with Version 4 of the sidewinder software in XP.

tmorris1
If you have Sidewinder Version 4 with a USB controller, just ignore the warnig that it won't work on this operationg system and install it anyway. It works.
ElGato
XP has native support, you dont think MS would leave that out do you. :D
tmorris1
The native XP support doesn't let you adjust forcefeedback and remap buttons to keystrokes, etc.
nekrosoft13
yeah i can't change any setting, about the controller. i need to change the gas and brake pedal to use as to seperate button, and not as one axis. i have some problem with rally trophy.:)
tmorris1
nekrosoft13, I never did catch if you had the USB or gameport version of the controller. If it is USB it should all work fine. I downloaded the Rally trophy demo last night and it worked.
Tikimotel
I want to have one axis, for brakes and throttle, only to get Motorhead to work. Force settings are on the strong side, can't change that with the sidewinder auto drivers wich came with XP. Colin Mcrea Rally2 works fine with separate pedals and so does NFS Porsche Unleashed. No complaints there.
nekrosoft13
i have the usb version and all racing games for normal. but the rally trophy the brake won't work. and inside the game when i try to set up the game controller. when i press the brake pedal, the gas lights up. the game doesn't see the diffrence between the gas and brake. :( any one have a idea how to fix it. p.s. now i use the sidewinder gamepad to play the game. tmorris1
Did you get the sidewinder 4 software to work? I had the same problem with the gas and brakes. Make sure that the gas and brakes are on a seperate axis in the sidewinder software. That is what fixed it for me.
