[RELEASE] Longhorn Percept

No, are your other transparent themes working perfectly. If all the other themes like vista by jemaho etc. are fine, I'm not sure what the problem is. By it's nature, this skin uses very large tga's and a lot of them. Some people have reported problems with their drivers supporting the theme. Most of these problems have been reported by people using ATi cards and the newest version of catalyst. There's not a lot I can do, because I have ATi cards on both my computers, and on my laptop, I have a very old card, and the transparency still works, but I don't update my drivers for either card as I don't play games and my system runs fine with the drivers I have. I can't replicate the problem myself. PM me with all your system details if your other skins are applying correctly, and I'll try to help.

Update can be found here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/26944194/

No more text problems, I hope, and plenty more substyles: try Longhorn Percept Glass Taskbar, it's the prettiest.

Full GUI Kit beginning of Feb.

i ll wait for final/full version

thanks

A few bugs that I've noticed, I'll provide screenshots upon request. :) All of these are using the Longhorn Percept Glass Taskbar option.

1) In Firefox 1.5, the text in the Bookmarks Toolbar is #000 on a #3a3f42 background.

2) In my start menu above the pinned applications, the last four characters of my username are showing. Is "David Sissitka" to long?

3) When right clicking on my desktop, the menu isn't wide enough. I get a "Arrange Icons B", when hovered the arrow appears between the s and the B.

Overall, I like it. :)

1.You'll need a separate firefox skin. Pick it up with the rest of the pack later today...

2. I don't show my username on the startmenu, and the skin wasn't designed to show it by design, so I can't really comment.

3. I've just tried on my desktop and on two other desktops in the house. There are no width problems here, and I can't recreate the error. The final version, due today, is as finished as it's going to be. I've had around 20 people use all the skins for 2 weeks with no problems, and any that they have had have now been resolved.

Dark skins will always have some text issues, but I believe that most of these are taken care of. I am not against personal mods if people are unhappy with the finished product as I no doubt have a great deal to learn.

Ok, I've had a lot of problems getting a few things the way I wanted them, and ended up making the pack more than was the original intention. Many of the comments and critiques that were levelled at the original have been addressed, and the range of bundled skins for other apps is now quite incredible. I have many people to thank for all their help and efforts.

I decided that I wanted to include all the vista/longhorn things I've been working on in one pack, and that I wanted to make that pack as bug free as possible, andto allow as many variations to suit as many different people, so that once the thing was finished, I could leave the project behind finally.

To that end, the newer version will include a thin-titlebar version (against my better judgement and due to popular demand), and sets of skins based off:

1: the original Longhorn concepts

2. the 4XXX style shown at the PDC with the metalic grey window-style and gloss midnight blue shell

3. a blend of 4074's Jade and Aero thanks to WB5

4. an improved Percept with a thin titlebar subskin

5. a screenshot-perfect but largely unusable 5308, using resources taken from 5270 (for my sins) and the current build, if the install will finally complete on my groaning laptop

6. a not-screenshot perfect 5308, but very usable, still using the actual resources from Vista, but with better user functionality at the expense of some of the visual elements

7. many shellstyles, skins and systemfiles, mostly not done by me but all included with their author's permissions to make the experience better

8. An installer, again not by me, that will transform your XP into Vista, with a lot of fun substyles, just because I don't think there are enough Vista shellpacks out there and I saw a gap in the market.

All is now compete apart from the final vista theme and some of the extras. I'm not making the mistake of offering a release date just yet because time has taught me that it's better to get things right than just to get them out. There will also be a full version without any installer, just the files.

Like Percept, I'll accept any offers from beta testers who fancy trying out what is there so far. It won't be ready to try until next week, probably early. I've got one major problem still to sort out before I want to show it to people (see my thread above regarding shellstyles) but after that all should be well. Please only PM me for the test if you're actually in the mood to e-mail me regularly and report bugs. I really want it to be perfect in the end, and the only way I can do that is if people report problems. Testing this should only be for people who are prepared to sit with a set of themes on their desktop and use them day-in day-out for a week or so, and who like to moan about everything. I'd really like people who use a wide variety of programs regularly and have at least avery little experience of windowblinds theme building or alteration.

Sidebar runs on avedesk by the way.

You might want to remove the "will arrive on 02/02/2006 there will be no delays" part. :ike:

On another note, I noticed in the vista screenshots that the taskbar's border cuts the start button over, you might want to look into that.

Wow, the first two pictures seems to be the greatest Styles since Stefanka`s InspiratSE! F***ing beautiful ! The Glass-Taskbar looks cool also, but can you try to give the Font int the Taskbar a black colour with a white shadow like it`s in Titlebars on other GlassVista.wba`s? Great work! :woot:

Sorry, I can't edit my last post, but just one question. Savourymonkey, you say you are going to provide us with an installer, correct? So if I download that installer, it will get my Windows to look exactly like the 4 screenshots provided in your last post? Including icons, backrounds, the whole shabang?

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) using their respective DNS servers and both trigger the dialog above.
