sanctified Veteran Posted January 9, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2006 I really think Young fits in the titans? gameplan if McNair decides to retire. I will miss Steve. He was discret but a hell of a player. Hope his modest numbers dont outshine what he really did for his team since he deserves a place in Canton Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/418283-vince-young-going-pro/#findComment-587037278 Share on other sites
Snipe
interesting, Young's uncle was a college buddy of McNair.... The Houston talk shows are going to be buzzing w/ this topic until the draft. yisman
He'll probably go top 5, but I have to admit that I don't think he's worthy of it. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/418283-vince-young-going-pro/#findComment-587037340 Share on other sites
sanctified Veteran Posted January 9, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2006 He'll probably go top 5, but I have to admit that I don't think he's worthy of it. That can be said about any high prospect. Maybe you are mostly right, but remember that every big star in the NFL was a dubbious rookie once. I bet no one expected Cadillac Williams to be ROY. JAbad28
Aww I thought he would stay for one more, but it's great for him. I also think he's going TOP 5, he could probably also take #1 pick but I don't think the TEXANS need him. Since the SAINTS are going to be 2nd pick they might just pick VINCE YOUNG. Aids
He should stay another year in college so Ohio State can give him a career ending injury... BUT! I think he'll go in the top 5, probably to the Titans. Maybe you are mostly right, but remember that every big star in the NFL was a dubbious rookie once. I bet no one expected Cadillac Williams to be ROY. Actually, I remember Cadillac being mentioned numerous times once he was drafted by Tampa. The perfect situation. The NFL is all about fitting the scheme and getting a chance. Yeah, it might be great that Tennessee will draft Vince Young but they hired Norm Chow as OC because of his dropback QB offense, not his option offensive attack. [bear]
BOOMER SOONER Looks like a Money is more important to him thats so childish, he did what he set out to do. He promised to bring a national championship home to austin, texas. I'm so proud of him for bringing one home to us. It's time for him to go now. If you think he did it for the money only then you are blind. Obviously the money is a factor but he is finishing his degree plan first. This man is a true role model for what the college athlete should be like. Responsible and smart. Some players are worthy of being picked top 5, while others aren't. Alex Smith wasn't. Vince Young isn't. Reggie Bush is. Cadillac Williams I wasn't sure about (and he has not been as impressive as you make him out to be). You need to take in account that William's stats could be better without that injury. Remember that by week 3 he was leading the NFL in rushing yards. AppleDave Veteran Posted January 9, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2006 I will do backflips if he gets drafted 3rd (by the Titans). I live here in Middle Tennessee so that would be a great boost for our future team. Steve will retire very soon whether its this year or next year. I actually would think about drafting LenDale White over Bush if I had a choice ....I just think he will play better at the next level. I do think Young was right in choosing to go to the NFL now.....his stock probably will not go much higher than it is right now... and the only thing he really would get out of another year is maybe the Heisman and another National championship Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/418283-vince-young-going-pro/#findComment-587037560 Share on other sites

If you're a team on the brink of being good, drafting a guy like Vince Young does nothing. Young will be a project in the NFL. Now, if you're a team that is rebuilding or that is extremely young then, yes, Vince Young is the better choice but at the same time, you better know what you are drafting and you better be in a position as a franchise to endure a few years of crap results. L3thal Veteran Posted January 9, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2006 There is a high chance he will end up in Tennessee for the simple fact that McNair is his coach and McNair has been trying to persuage the Titans to pick him up lately. With Young in Tennessee, he can learn from McNair which has been his teacher for a while. Not a bad way to enter the NFL if you ask me. The Titans with that young team could use a young QB like Young to begin their rise. Komet
I would love for Young to be a Titan but considering what he will be worth after that Rose Bowl performance the only way it will happen is if McNair retires or is released. McNair will count about 27 million against the cap next season and the Titans don't have a lot of wiggle room to play with. I would hate to see McNair get cut, it would be great if he could retire as a Titian but something has got to give. Also the big rumor around town right now is Coach Fisher is very unhappy here and the Titans will probably let other teams make offers to him. costanza007
I agree that LenDale White will probably be better than Bush in the NFL... at least as an RB. Bush carried the ball 20+ times only twice in his career at USC, thats not the kind of production you want out of someone you'll pay gazillions of dollars for. He's got great hands and the speed to be a wide-out, but I don't think he's big enough. I wonder if he could convert to DB and play a few offensive snaps too... TaiCrunch
The Titans definitely need Young. McNair's a great QB, but he's getting kinda old and he gets hurt really often. And Billy Volek really isn't too good of a QB. Living in Tennessee, it'll be good to have some faith in the Titans again. Gfunk4life
they should trade Billy Volek for a 3 or 4 round pick, they use that pick and their draft pick to get young, if they can keep McNair, that could help young see things.they might trade the head coach for a 3rd round pick like what the Jets did and raiders did 3 or so years ago.if they do who will they get(i think pat Hill Fresno St will be good since he is a oline guy but he will run the ball to because the oline has an easier time, and the D will most likely look about the same)but Fisher is a good coach and i would love the raiders to have him but that wouldnt happen Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/418283-vince-young-going-pro/#findComment-587052695 Share on other sites
