Is it me or is Major Nelson.. I dunno, I always imaginied him to be kinda, manly, it's the major bit... I dunno...

Just remember that tomorrow a Halo 3 update is coming out. I believe it's a temp playlist update and the new maps costing 800 markplace points. Get em while they are hot tomorrow. They will be free next year in the spring.

Is anyone having a problem with the new video update? I've been watching a few videos, until a few minutes ago when it decided to cease playback and say the content is not supported and throw at me the following error code: 69-8007045D

Now the annoying thing is it won't play any videos now including the ones i've played already, AHHHHHHH!!! I've just deleted and re-downloaded the media update and it still refuses to play the video files. Damn, DAMN, DAMNNNN, *shakes fist at microsoft*

edit, a few reboots later and a stern word between me and my console, it's now playing videos again.

touch wood!

Yes it is a bit frustrating, hope it's fixed soon! I was starting to enjoy watching my videos on my tv instead of sitting at my pc screen...oh well

Huge VF5 360 patch released today

Brings saved online replays, online tweaks and a wealth of other new features

Sega has released a patch for Virtua Fighter 5 on 360, introducing a wealth of new gameplay options, tweaks and bug fixes.

Save-able online replays, extended costume options, an online rematch option for public players, and overall tweaking of the online component of the game are just some of the effects of applying the new patch.

Here's the full list of changes:

Some characters will now be able to select costume-specific pants in alternate costumes, for example equipping Costume A pants in Costume B.

Replays of online battles can now be saved.

One additional item per character (appear as "Downloaded item" in Costume settings/Item edit dialog).

Gamer pictures will now be shown in online battles.

After winning the World Tournament Final, it's now more likely that rivals you have not defeated will be playing in arcades.

When someone joins an online match, you can now see their connection quality.

Various fixes for minor bugs, including a texture bug.

Easier sorting of rankings.

Rematches in Online VS. Player Matches now possible even when the players haven't added their opponent to their friend list

Just boot up the game while logged into Xbox Live to receive the update automatically, as usual.

Seems to be some update to the dashboard. The friends and messages icons have been combined into one, and where the message icon used to be there is now "inside Xbox" with all kinds of news and things. Kind of useless IMO, but I guess they are trying to build a community kind of thing.

Weren't those changes introduced in the fall update? :s

I don't think you guys got the Inside Xbox feature initially, so perhaps you're right.

I just went to the Inside Xbox website and here's what it says:

</h4>

<h4>How can I see Inside Xbox?

Sign in to Xbox LIVE and select Inside Xbox on the Xbox LIVE blade. Inside Xbox is currently available only in the U.S., U.K., and Japan. It will be available in more regions in coming months.

So it must have just been finally released in Canada I guess. Mystery solved

RockBand DLC Update

A few songs we have released for DLC have been patched. The patches are live already on the 360, and go live on PS3 on the 28th. Online play/leaderboards/ranking are not affected by this. To get the updated DLC songs you can re-download them (directions at bottom of post). You won't be punished for not downloading them again, however, as the fixes have no effect on gameplay.

The following songs have incorrect genre tags which cause them to be lost when sort by genre in-game:

Title/Launch Date

?Can?t Stand Losing You? 20-Nov

?Roxanne? 20-Nov

?Synchronicity II? 20-Nov

?Police Pack 01? 020-Nov

?Brass in Pocket? 18-Dec

Also there was a bug where the vocals wouldn?t turn off when the user put them the whole way down but this has been fixed now! -

?Limelight? 1-Jan

How to re-download-

Xbox 360

Navigate to the System Blade ( purple ), select memory, all devices, games, Rock Band, search for any of the listed songs (right trigger is a page down ), select the song with the A button, and then select Delete.

Now either re-download from marketplace, or from the download history.

Call of Duty 4 just asked me to update...whats new in this update?

Just got this update as well, going to do a bit of research. Ill post back in a bit.

Potentially, the most sought after fix was host migration. While adding nothing to the overall experience of the game it does act as a virtual Advil for fixing an head-pounding annoyance. Originally, when the host would leave a multiplayer session all players would be booted back to the main menu of the game. With the new host migration feature the game selects a new host and while the map will restart, groups will be able to stay together.

Host Migration - Host migration was added, so now when the host leaves you won?t get dropped back to your own lobby by yourself. Everyone will stay together. Host Leaves, everyone returns to lobby, selects next best host, and the game starts up again. No more re-inviting, re-partying up because a host ended the game.

What? You go back to the lobby and lose all the progress on the game, it's not a true host migration? That kinda sucks... I guess it helps with enforcing even teams, but it's a shame if you've already gone through a good 10 minute game and at the end the host quits and you lose all that:(:(

well i was playing yesterday and when the host quit, it actually just changed the host half way through the game without exiting to the lobby :s

    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to train them to help sort Adobe's old spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better against Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
    • My favorite file manager for Windows 11 finally gets a long-requested feature by Taras Buria Files is among the best File Explorer alternatives for Windows 10 and 11. This free app is packed with all sorts of features and conveniences, but there is one crucial feature that is still missing—Tree View. Fortunately, the latest update in the Preview channel finally delivers it. With version 4.1.4, which is now available for download in the Preview channel, developers implemented Tree View, a new mode that displays folders in an expandable hierarchy. Windows 11's stock File Explorer always had this feature, but it was nowhere to be found in Files until now. Starting with the latest preview update, you can expand each drive and its nested folders without leaving the current location and then open the folder you need in the main view. To try Tree View in Files, update the app to the latest preview version, then click the small arrow next to a drive to expand its content. The developers say they are rolling out Tree View in Preview first to gather feedback from users and improve the feature before bringing it to all in the stable channel. In addition to Tree View, Files 4.1.14 improves the Windows Fonts folder. You can now preview each font directly in Files with no need to open the built-in font viewer. For now, these two features are only available in the Preview channel. For those using the stable release, developers recently released version 4.1.3, with improvements for the built-in tag system, on-demand folder size calculation, and plenty of various fixes. You can check out the full release notes here. You can download Files from the Microsoft Store (paid version) or its official website (free).
    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
    • Millions of users to benefit from Windows 11's new performance boost on Adobe Photoshop by Sayan Sen Despite the advent of AI-generated imagery, Adobe's Photoshop remains one of the most popular tools on this planet. Adobe does not have a publicly reported total user count but it's probably not wrong to assume there are millions. As of 2025, Adobe Creative Cloud has had approximately 41 million paid subscribers, many of whom likely use Photoshop. In addition, more than 166,000 companies worldwide are apparently also using the app. These figures are according to a very recent report by SQ Magazine. Out of them, it is fair to assume that many are probably running Windows. As such, there is good news for these users as Microsoft has announced Photoshop is getting a big 20% performance boost on x86-64 (AMD64) systems and a 13% bump-up on Arm devices. This is definitely great news for them as many have complained about the slow performance and general sluggishness of Photoshop on Windows 11 ever since the advent of the latter back in 2021. If you are wondering how Microsoft managed to do this, the answer lies in a combination of compiler-level optimizations and a technology called Sample Profile Guided Optimization (SPGO). According to Microsoft, Adobe worked closely with the company’s Visual C++ team and adopted the latest MSVC toolchain enhancements together with SPGO to squeeze more performance out of Photoshop’s CPU-bound workloads. Unlike traditional Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), which requires developers to create special instrumented builds and run lengthy training workloads, SPGO gathers performance data directly from optimized release binaries. This means Adobe could collect real-world usage information which gives a major advantage to this technique, as companies could leverage data collected from actual customer workloads rather than only relying on synthetic benchmark runs. In theory, this should allow optimizations to better reflect how users interact with software in the real world. Thanks to this, there are improvements to code layout, function inlining, hot-and-cold code separation, and other low-level tweaks that help processors execute instructions more efficiently. Essentially the compiler is better able to identify “hot” code paths, those which are most frequently executed, and optimize them accordingly.
