[OFFICIAL] Xbox Live Latest Demos

Just to be safe, before I do it, is there one region better than another?

I have a UK adress I can use, my boy in Scotland actually, but is that the best to use?

Going to do it as soon as I get home. I really cannot do it the way people are talking about the Rainbow Six Demo!

omg, i love Rainbow Six 3, definitley getting that, but most likely for Christmas seeing as i just pre-ordered Gears of War, and work havent given me any hours over half term except for hours this sunday :(

The graphics are really really good and the action is amazing, cant wait tbh

and also, will there be a COD3 demo?

I don't think it really matters what address you use, just as long as it's in the region you want.

will the Rainbow Six demo ever be available for us North Americans?

I'm sure it will be eventually.

I would do the Region work-around thing, but I don't want to waste the free month of Xbox Live Gold that comes with setting up a new Silver Account. I would rather use that for someone that may want to use it one day or something. Does anyone know if there is any way of setting up a new Silver Account without wasting the free month of Xbox Live Gold that comes with it (since you're limited to 3 per console) ?

Thanks again for the tips everyone.

As soon as I am done eating dinner, I am going to check out Rainbow 6, as it is already downloaded and on my hard drive. (Y)

I would say the 20 minutes I spent setting up the other account was well worth it. Rainbow Six is definitely very cool, and I took my time with the demo, and got well over an hour playing it.

Visually it is stunning. It truly is. Perhaps the best I have seen so far, so it was worth it for that aspect alone. Although I will say it is far from flawless. It probably has the best overall visuals I have seen to date, but that is not to say I did not see plenty of jaggies and a few glitches here and there. But that is me being picky, which I always am.

The gameplay is a lot of fun. GRAW, but a slightly faster pace for sure. With that said, I did see some slow downs here and there, obviously a result of the great graphics combined with a lot of on screen action.

So was it worth it doing what I did? Hell yeah. I would have no need for 3 accounts ever, just would not happen as I live with my girlfriend and no one ever really plays on my 360 except me, so it was worth the 20 minutes I had to spend setting it all up, and now I know if they ever decided to release another region protected demo in the future, I am covered.

@ magik, I saw no way around the free month trial. I pressed back like 4 times trying to see if I could skip it, cause I saw no need for it either.

I can only agree about those slowdowns, there's quite a few actually :s

The AI is a bit odd at times, the ragdoll moves funny, you can't pick up the SIG552 looking gun,

the USP40 gun you can pickup sounds exactly the same with and without silender.

Yeah there are some glitches but look at it this way, the demo build has to be at leased 1 month old (Microsoft do a lot of playtesting on these, just like the full game) and the full game has not gone gold yet (AFAIK) so basically it's a beta. From what i have heard the final build of carbon was a lot smoother than the demo, which was filmed in stutter-vision!

Yea, let us know how you like it. I want to check it out, but I might wait for the US release ;)

The demo is included with the latest OXM if you want to go that route. (That probably explains why it wasn't released on the Marketplace for NA with the rest of the world)

THP8 reminded me a lot of Girl's Yeah Right! video if anyone has seen that. It's kick ass and has me hooked on TH games again. Not sure if it's enough for me to buy it though. Good demo though

I've had RS:V on my hard drive for days but not had time to play it. Sounds promising what others have said though :D

I'm addicted to Splinter Cell :p. It's best when there are three people that can speak. I'ts actually convinced me to pay for another year of xbox live gold.

I would say I am addicted as well. At least partially. I just wish I was better at being a Spy. :(

I actually just asked this question in the thread about the game.

    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
    • A lot of uncertainty in this story. Might. Could. Maybe. The truth is we don't know what will happen to the universe in the end, or if it will end. Our own Milky Way galaxy will merge with the Andromeda galaxy in about 2.5 billion years, with our solar system as part of a new, larger cluster. I guess we'll have to and see how it goes down.
    • While people can rely on text expansion, it'd be nice to be able to save prompts as aliases. Since AI chatbots need so much provided context to lessen the chance of them going off rails in their response, it'd be nice to be able to start your prompt with a command word that provides all the necessary context that you find yourself often providing. I know there are 'memory' features, including in Gemini, but I still find myself needing to tell it things in each specific conversation for it to give appropriate responses in many contexts. For example, I have it in the memory that I'm running Fedora 44 KDE Plasma 6.7 yet Gemini constantly gives me instructions for older versions. Once I remind it what I'm running, it corrects itself. This isn't something I should need to do every time I prompt it about my setup.
