cybermagellan
I could add the mail alert via a plugin. We support mail alerts via acccore.dll, but Triton UI has not handled that code yet. I believe the UI guys are adding that very soon. I "think" SULAX you could probably use a toaster event. I know those are built into Triton, perhaps you could piggyback on that? I'm sure you've already thought of that though :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/432477-aim/page/4/#findComment-587220472 Share on other sites
cybermagellan
I must say triton is an improvment over aim 5.9, the new graphics are nice, would there be a way to incorporate a theme service into triton? and is it really necissary to have 2 aol icons on the tray bar (aim and aol). It pretty much is built in already. If you want to know more you can start reading Gregs blog or Justins blog or Sree's blog or...the list keeps getting larger. $ick
How do you disable viewing the people's first and last names vs. displaying their Screen Names? I don't want my buddies displayed with their real names in my buddy list. Untill a theme plugin occurs you can take a look at blabstyles.box and toolkit.box and they'll give you some starting points on editing the boxley theme Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/432477-aim/page/4/#findComment-587221115 Share on other sites

bscabl
Any bugs regarding the tooltips and other mouseover effects could be ad hack's fault if you used the latest version. I didn't do a fresh install of triton while testing it and didn't notice blocking the address book also had some negative effects. We will have the fixed version up tonight if bscabl has the free time. Sorry for any sporadic behavior it may have caused to any of your clients; for me at least it only seems to have broken the tooltip over buddy names. Edit: even on the fixed install after going into ee\services\addressBookApp and selecting to uninstall the address book application I still lose tooltips. its up..not sure if anyone realized.. i snuck it up with little fanfair [did it between 'stuff'] So, SULAX, what's it like to be the person that put tons of unnecessary, bloated, buggy software on unsuspecting people?s computers and robs them of their computer?s performance? For those not smart enough to download AIM Ad Hack, everyone I know who downloads AIM? wants AIM. They don?t know of or want the programs forcefully installed on their computer such as the Firefox ripoff AOL brower, Plaxo toolbar, AOL toolbar, Weatherbug, Viewpoint media player, Wild Tangent, or the AOL program installer. This is getting ridiculous how much crap is being on installed on 99% of your users computers. greg stated eons ago that the bundled crap isnt the devlopers, its the corporate people saying 'we neeed to bundle this' Excellent question. I wish more people asked why we need AOL Explorer instead of just cursing its existance. For now, and I stress the "for now" part, we need AOL Explorer for certain web pages that would require you to log in with your AIM SN. For example, account linking setup or setting a super buddy icon in the visual expression chooser. One interesting article from USA Today that you guys may want to read...particularly the last part of the article on "Phone calls." heh i hate linked screennames, prefer cloning.. so i didnt look, i just noticed.. i have no aol explorer, the 'linked' link just kinda stares at me and does :pthing :p interesting. I "think" SULAX you could probably use a toaster event. I know those are built into Triton, perhaps you could piggyback on that? I'm sure you've already thought of that:)hough :) wich reminds me, do the toasdter still steal focus.. daily use and i havent noticed... maybee thats because its been fixed.. hmm... i just relized all my replies are going into the same...long... post... interesting. yanowhiz
I still don't trust or use Triton. Find it too fancy and memory intensive for me. I want something simple. Thats why I use Trillian, and aim5.9 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/432477-aim/page/4/#findComment-587224680 Share on other sites

Funny, I don't have toasters turned on at all...they drive me nuts personally. I have over 450 people on my BL and a bunch are developers here at AOL signing on and off all day long, and when you add in the number of IMs I get a day, the less moving objects the better. :) With that said, I can ask our QA and see what the status is of the toasters stealing focus. FWIW, Cybermagellen, if I were to do my own mail alert plugin, it would be using my own "toaster", where I could control the UI, size, and behavior. KGHtheII
I have no idea why, but all of a sudden i am getting the validating hang. I went to bed last night, woke up in the AM to find AIM signed off, and now i cant sign back on. Its just stuck at validating. It's not because of Nero because i already updated to the newest version a long time ago. This just happened out of no where.. Any idea why? EDIT: After killing all aim processes and restarting the software, it works fine. Perhaps there is an error in the code for autoreconnect? I am not sure that the bug is in the autoreconnect code, but there is definitely an issue where aim6.exe gets stuck in memory...our beta team is investigating that. azntennisplaya87
greg, i saw on your blog awhile ago that you guys were planning on attaching the screenname/change status thing to the top so that u can't scroll away from it. i think that's a great idea and i hope it gets implemented soon. other things that i hope get in soon -background colors -direct connect thanks. its looking good. Thanks for the feedback. We are making progress on two of those items. I have not been grabbing the latest Triton builds, but I know things like DC are coming along nicely. As soon as I am given the green light by upper mgmt I will try and post screenshots. Usually, I am not so concerned about sharing info or images, but upper mgmt made it quite clear that DC info is not to be shared...aka they said "Don't be a hero" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/432477-aim/page/4/#findComment-587234629 Share on other sites

azntennisplaya87
there's two other problems i thought i should bring up 1. the text that displays in triton looks a lot different than it does in aim 5.9. for example, tahoma 8pt or any font in 8pt looks more jagged and much smaller and harder to read. 2. 10pt font in triton displays like 12pt font in 5.9 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/432477-aim/page/4/#findComment-587236696 Share on other sites
