[Mens Olympic Hockey] Can. vs. Fin.

it's not panic, it's facing the thruth. Anyway they don't even have a week to prepare the team with everyone together and this on a smaller ice surface, adapt with the internationnal rules (which they can't even do, it seems so hard for these ret*rds to let their stick on the ice  ), the coach can't even put a strategy together and make good combinations. Instead of doing individual play or shooting the puck in the zone and rushing on it like uncounscious human beeing, they should start playing real hockey. The defensive and offensive are so far from each other and the defensemen doesn't help the attack and vice-versa.

It's the defensement that are supposed to organized an attack, start by the begining !!

Yeah, it totally agree with you there. As I said, they ARE playing like crap. They are trying to be far too pretty and making individual plays and not playing as a team at all. Everyone is trying to step up and do it themselves, but they can't do that. They have to play a simple team game. They have to all come out of the zone together and not try and make pretty long bomb passes. Also Quin is coaching terribly. I don't know what he is thinking with some of those line combinations. I really want to see him put Nash, Thorton, and Bertuzzi together. Before the olympics started I was sure that would be a line and when he did briefly put them together, they dominated in the offensive zone.

That said, this team has a lot of experience and skill. Once again remember these are pretty much exhibition games. I'm sure they will get it together and step it up come Tuesday. If you watched the interviews with Sakic, ect... after the game, you could see that they knew what they were doing wrong and I know they will rectify it in the upcoming games.

C'mon CANADA show them why NHL is the best sport in the world!

What do you mean? Finland has NHL players in their team too, as do other countries, like my very own who beat USA today.:)) But granted, they weren't as good as Canada IMHO, so Finland did an even better job. I hope we'll at some point meet Finland... Should be an interesting game to watch, and it always tend to get heated with two old neighboring rivals meeting again with lots of prestige in the game. I'm afraid we'd get whooped by them.:DD Anyway, Finland has a pretty good team that can go far depending on how well they play as a team, and Russia has been real impressive too.

We are always scared to death when we meet Sweden, usually games between us ends up like we are winning 5-1 in the last period and then you beat us by 5-6 :).

theyre probably taking it easy so the older players dont get tired before the playoffs :p i hope

HAHAHAHAHA ... that's too funny, and too true. Old farts shouldn't be on the ice. Get the young blood out there, get the young players out there showing off! You don't see a 40yr old Figure Skater do you? You don't see many 40yr old down hill skiir's ... no.... most the atheleats are 18-26. The olympics has been, since the early 1900's for the YOUNGER ATHELEATS. I have never liked the idea of old, dried up NHL'ers plyaing in it.

   Just my humble opinion.

Allan

that was absolutely awesomegame today. in the 3rd time i was almostpraying for wins not to get any goals in. I found that fins are much better then canada. i hope that they can win a gold, then sweden silver and swiss with bronze.

game against chezs will be hard for canada and they will loose it again..hopefully :D

Definitely, the team has a lot of talent. But they aren't a team. They have to play as a team to win, regardless of who is playing. I applaud some of the players being added despite criticism (such as Draper; his job is not to score but to play defensively), while some I are questionable. McCabe is not the best to go with for defence. Instead of folding to pressure to include McCabe, they should have concentrated on the players whose skills aren't reflected in the statistics- Good, stay-at-home defencemen. Chris Pronger is a great player, but a selfish one who does not understand teamwork. Todd Bertuzzi? If Gretzky wanted new blood on the team, try for skilled players, like Staal or Crosby.

The team didn't just meet two hot goalies, they played poorly. They met teams, not a conglomerate of talent. Canada continues to play like they think they are the best, and they could be, if they just shoot instead of try for highlight goals. The old cliche: Keep it simple.

Otherwise, it was a great game, and I cheer for both teams, so I am hardly disappointed.

I have hockey training lessons with an guy who has trained people to play in the NHL. He was saying that the olympics are a joke. The NHL playoffs are considered the biggest war in sports. Its a series of 7 and 4 wins needed to advance(as all of you know) where as the olympics are just one game. How can one game decide something.

Olympics emphasize perfection. In skiing, if you make one tiny mistake, you are two-tenths of a second slower and you fall back ten places. In curling, you miss one rock and you lose that medal. Same in Olympic hockey: You have to be perfect in that one chance. No more chances, just the one.

    • Browser vendors including Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Vivaldi have jointly written an open letter to Microsoft saying enough is enough regarding Edge being pushed on Windows users without consent. Microsoft makes it difficult to change the default browser, promotes Edge throughout Windows 11, and has made the uninstall process unnecessarily complicated compared to other apps. Does anyone have more details on what exactly the open letter demands and whether any regulatory action is being considered? Also curious whether this could lead to antitrust investigations similar to what happened with Internet Explorer back in the day. Would love to hear from anyone following this closely.
