Microsoft to announce something March 3rd?

It has orbs in the style The Xbox 360 flash page has and everything idicates this would be a portable something...

If they really are going to make a portable Xbox I hope they are smart enough, well since they have ported Direct X Mobile to Windows Mobile 5, please make it a full blown PDA with a stylus and a gaming device and not just some dumbed down gaming console. Promote both Win CE and Xbox at the same time.

But yeah it MIGHT be Live related since you take that with you everywhere too.

i remember seeing something about microsoft making its own verson of the Apple ipod, that will play Mp3s videos, games, etc. my guess is a Xbox moble or something. i agree with you, thati should include Windows moble 5, if it does comeout.

Our format dd/mm/yyyy is more logical.

Actually it's not. The US model puts the most useful information first. It also makes for less confusing abbreviations.

That site looks like its something big... IMO there is nothing that big related to Live.. :/

If it were something Windows Live related I'd probably have known about it (without someone pointing me at the link).

However, I think you'll come to expect big things from Windows Live in the future :)

i changed my mind its the lifestyle pc.... hopefully smaller, stylier (sp?) and would be sweet with battery life of 12 hours like they say

it can be using the new hybrid harddrives... vista ready hence ms saying it requires a windows OS and not saying which specifically

lol.. Here we go again... More viral marketing... :|

Over here we use the ISO 8601 standard. :) YYYY-MM-DD. I particularly like that for being unambiguous. Why? Because you never have to wonder if it's MM/DD/YY(YY) or DD/MM/YY(YY). It can only be one date format, because there is no YYYY-DD-MM format in use. I don't think mm/dd/yy avoids any problems better than dd/mm/yy or vice versa as long as there are these two formats in use.

Our format dd/mm/yyyy is more logical.

SERIOSULY WHO CARES, WHY EVEN ATTACK IT.

Note in the video, "what I can do"(multimeida)

"where I can go"(portable)

"how I can change you life"(some new functionality, wifi w/ rss or something, who knows)

So it says portable xbox to me, which I don't like personally, I like Nintendo where it is and I don't want the boat rocked anymore, but that is just me.

Anyways they other guess is a Microsoft pda/cell phone, but that would tend to shoot more for the proffession style, where this site clearly is not marketing too.

The only thing that says to me that it may not be a portable xbox, is the blue & black colors, as those are Sony's colors for their system.

Could it be a MyLifeBits device? If you look on connect there is a beta related to Memex, well at least there was. [edit] Scrap that, this is what it might be [/edit]

They're asking the question over at Scobleizer ? and Microsoft's Robert Scoble isn't offering more than hints. Visitors are just guessing.

The Origami Project's teaser of a Web site offers even less ? but does have an RSS feed.

Fortunately, we know someone who knows for certain. According to an industry source who has seen the thing and calls it "very cool," Origami is one and the same with this ultraportable "lifestyle PC" we were talking about here earlier today. This source is under NDA, an honest fellow and unwilling to share more than his help connecting the dots.

Earlier this month, the author of a blog called Engadget described the device this way: "According to at least one report, Bill Mitchell, Corporate Vice President of the Mobile Platform Division, showed a slide that outlined specs for the new PC category, including that it be wearable, always on, no larger than 10-inches, connected through 3G networks, pen-based, and have a suggested retail price of $500 or less. ? One notable spec that could differentiate this one: Microsoft is apparently insisting that this run the full version of Windows."

The Origami Project Web site promises there will be news March 2.

Word is trickling out that Microsoft has treated attendees at its Mobile Platform Division partner briefing to its vision of the next generation of "ultraportable lifestyle PCs." According to at least one report, Bill Mitchell, Corporate Vice President of the Mobile Platform Division, showed a slide that outlined specs for the new PC category, including that it be wearable, always on, no larger than 10-inches, connected through 3G networks, pen-based, and have a suggested retail price of $500 or less. Sounds like something of a cross between Windows Mobile smartphones and tablet PCs -- or a rehash of the long-forgotten Windows CE-based "Jupiter" laptop platform, which didn't exactly take the world by storm. One notable spec that could differentiate this one: Microsoft is apparently insisting that this run the full version of Windows. If the company really succeeds in that endeavor, this could be a hit; if not, we'll get one to keep in the basement, next to our Clio.

my guess would be pocke pc with a hard drive. Remember LIFEDRIVE by Palm. Since plam and ms has joined forces it's a possibility...

Also a good device againt Apple iPod since the win.media player will be included.

The LifeDrive is bull**** and you know it. It's got a 4GB HD in it and it's a brick. I can put in a 4GB memory card that's absolutely tiny into a slot device and still have my 4GBs without carrying a brick around.

However, I think you'll come to expect big things from Windows Live in the future :)

Does that have anything to do with this?

I know one team that?s shipping something cool next week that you haven?t yet heard about. We?ll see if it leaks. - Robert Scoble

    • My problem with FF is I have to jump through hoops to get at least somewhat close to what Vivaldi gives me out of the box, with no real advantage that would make it worth my while. (But hey, apparently there's now at least experimental support for HDR in FF. I mean it's about a decade too late, but still...finally!) Brave I was never the least interested in, never saw the point, not to mention there's been quite a bit of drama surrounding them over the years. But I've been a faithful and very happy Opera user all the way back to 2001(ish), so once Vivaldi showed up following that awkward period of time after the key people left Opera and the company was sold, I never really looked back. And they never once made me question my choices.
    • Need to dust it again dangit, come on McDonalds, do your thing !?
    • I see it has more memory, more storage, a better CPU, and a stylus, as you said. Might be a good alternative. I see some refurbished for $150-200. I'm not scared of refurnbished, as a lot of parts in my house are refurbished/used. All are working atm.
    • "TeamViewer is the fast, simple and friendly solution for remote access over the Internet" Regarding the "friendly" description, has is stopped unceremoniusly booting your session after a couple of minutes accusing you of using it in a commercial environment?!
