So while my 10D is in the shop getting a new spoiler I thought I'd revisit film. Now I love my Sigma 10-20mm but its designed for a 1.6x sensor, or is it? Well it is. At 10mm you get this;

However at 13mm you get this;

Idea. Its not as bad at 13mm. I doubt you'd even see the lens during gigs, which I hope to try on Friday using Ilford 3200. I'm off to Snowdon tomorrow with some new film so today I decided to go for a walk around Liverpool. With some cropping and tweaking I was able to remove the lens for the most part. It was nice to be out on a sunny day with a "compact" camera (no battery grip) just taking some shots. Been a while since I just wandered.

cykey: You should use PTlens with your 10-20 sigma.

PTLens is Windows software that corrects lens pincushion/barrel distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. PTLens is available as a standalone application or Photoshop plug-in. Choose the Downloads folder to download PTLens.

Site DpReview has compared PTLens with DxO and Photoshop CS2. See reviews for PTLens at Digital Outback Photo, About.com and articles in German, French, Italian, and Japanese. Got a Mac? Try LensFix.

it's a must IMO

Nice pics! Mind posting them in color if possible?

Yay, motorcycle pictures. Post more, there are a few in my blog.

I don't actually have many decent ones because trying to take photos of them with my compact camera from behind the barriers doesn't get the best results.

Here's one more though.

Nice shot o0moonman0o.

It never snows by me so I decided to visit Snowdonia to take a look at real snow and mountains. It was far better than I could have hoped for. At times it was like driving through the Alps. Blue skies, gorgeous sun light, huge snow covered valleys. Just breathtaking. I got some Provia film for my EOS50 and also took my A70. I've yet to develop the Provia but I took a look through my A70 shots. Annoyingly f/8 just isn't enough for landscape photography, but at these sizes it doesn't look too bad. I had a great day and totally love my TomTom device. It takes away any worry about finding your way home. You can just drive around looking for photos knowing you can hit the home button when its time to leave. It was also great because it shows roads by the lakes so you can tell TomTom to take you to these vantage points. Very very handy.

So all these shots were taken on my little Canon A70 3.2 MP camera. I was very impressed by its performance after using my 10D for the past 18 months.

This first shot was probably the nicest place I found. I had googled the area looking for ideas and I was happy to find this place. Let me set the scene. I had Radio 1 on in the car as I arrived and KT Tunstall was reading a passage from her favourite book. It was snowing, the clouds were drifiting over the mountains and I was listening to KT Tunstall's very lovely voice. Kinda makes me wanna move out there :)

This was taken at the Llanberris Pass. I stopped at the car park were nutters go walking up Snowdon. The car park was near full! The view must have been amazing though.

Taken later on in the day when the light was nicer. I spent a lot of the time hand holding my 58mm polarizer in front of my A70 to get a nicer shot :) While I was here I browsed TomTom for my next place to visit. According to TomTom Snowdon was 40 mins away. I was debating visiting it as it was the point of my trip. However, I seemed to recall that the view from Llyn Peris did indeed include Snowdon. I was debating a 40 minute drive to god knows where or whether I should revisit Llyn Peris now the sun was shining and the skies were blue. Llyn Peris being 20 mins away.

I decided to revisit Llyn Peris and boy was I glad I did. I found this place on the way there. The view from the shore line of Llyn Peris. Just a perfect shot. I took some with my EOS50 @ 20mm so I hope they come out ok.

I put it into black and white and got stuck. Colour had lovely blues and things, but black and white also looked great. I dunno which I prefer. Depends which I look at :)

Finally arriving back at Llyn Peris looking at what I later found out was Snowdon. A few more photographers had turned up by this point. I can't imagine why ;)

Here are some pics that I took from last year (except for one, a few years back):

The first three pics were taken in Kansas at my in-laws' house on Dec. 26, 2005:

Here's two pics of Zeke, one of our kitties:

Here's a pic of Ollie, one of our other kitties:

Finally, here's a pic I took of my in-laws' kitty (on a Sony Mavica FD-73):

(sorry if the pics are too large, I can re-size if needed)

    • 2TB WD_Black SN7100 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD drops to its lowest price in over three months by Fiza Ali Amazon is currently offering the 2TB WD_Black SN7100 internal solid-state drive at its lowest price in over three months, so you may want to check it out, if you have been considering a storage upgrade, before the deal dries up (purchase link is toward the end of the article). Featuring a PCIe Gen 4.0 interface and M.2 2280 form factor, the SN7100 promises to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and sequential write speeds reaching 6,900MB/s, offering as much as a 35% improvement in performance compared with the previous generation. It also achieves random read speeds of 1,000,000 IOPS and random write speeds of 1,400,000 IOPS. The drive uses Western Digital’s TLC 3D NAND technology for reliable performance and is further supported by a five-year limited warranty. It also offers strong endurance, rated at up to 1,200TBW, making it suitable for demanding workloads such as gaming, content creation, and high-speed recording. Moreover, its DRAM-less architecture claims to improve power efficiency (the SSD relies on system memory for caching via HMB), while the WD_Black Dashboard software enables users to monitor drive health, install firmware updates, and activate Game Mode for potentially better performance. Finally, it operates within an operating temperature range of 0°C to 85°C, and can withstand storage temperatures from -40°C to 85°C. 2TB WD_Black SN7100 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD: $242.96 (Amazon US) Check this deal out if you want a 4TB option. • Hopefully this will fix the issue of no sound I have since last months stupid, and non-removable, Microsoft Corporation AudioProcessingObject Driver Update (1.0.3.56670)
    • It IS confusing! What channel are you in on each device? I'm guessing your 16GB device is on Experimental (formerly known as Dev) and your 128GB is on Beta.
