New Vista Build 5308.60 Released!

It is Build 5308!

No, not the same 5308 that was released last week, a different 5308!

The build released last week was 5308.17; where .17 means recompile number 17.

On February 28th, 2006, a new build was released, just days after the first. This build, 5308.60, is the 60th recompile, and purportedly more stable, less troublesome, smoother, faster, and without the memory leaks.

Though the reports of its stability and near perfection may have been exaggerated, NeoSmart Technologies has obtained proof of it?s release.

NOT the server version!!!

It is the MAIN versiaon. Server is still called Longhorn, and is availabse via a DIFFERENT link.

Yes, of course MS knows about it.... It is off their site after all!

Nevermind - Server and Workstation are on the same DVD - look for Windows Build 5308 Main (Windows Vista - Longhorn Server) 32 bit DVD.

It uses a combined installer that installs either Server or Vista based upon the Key entered. It does seam to install faster then .17.

Well, I cannot tell you what's new, simply because I don't know yet, but I can tell you that there is a new build on Connect. So regardless of whether or not the screenshot's fake, he is telling the truth about the new build :yes:

So wait, this build has more than one edition now? I would have figured that MS would start that kind of testing after the April CTP when the core OS isn't killing itself from showstopper bugs.

I don't think it's a case of it needing a new key, rather Microsoft are giving us the option of installing something other than the Ultimate version which is the keys we currently have
