I'm currently taking a technical drawing class in my high school. The class is very easy, which is good because there is no teacher. We teach ourselves from the book, and a football coach watches the class to make sure no cheating occurs.
We are allowed to play games and browse the net between assignments. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the administrator account of the computers. This means I am unable to install DirectX, which prevents me from playing several of my favorite games.
Please, before any of you banter me with morality issues, understand the following:
1. I'm not trying to gain access to Administrator, which I'm sure is protected for a reason. I'm simply trying to install DirectX on my computer to play games. Quite to the contrary, I do not wish to log in to Administrator because I'm sure that could be easily tracked.
2. The person running the class has no problems with us installing programs on the computers.
So, is there any way to install DirectX without admin? This is a Windows 2k system. I'm looking specifically to workarounds and/or a "cracked" version of DirectX. I'm not sure if such a thing would be illegal - after all, DirectX is a free program and its not like installing it would be a hostile action.
Also: I can't simply ask the network admin to install it for me, because he is almost never at the school. He only comes if problems arrive.
