I'm currently taking a technical drawing class in my high school. The class is very easy, which is good because there is no teacher. We teach ourselves from the book, and a football coach watches the class to make sure no cheating occurs.
We are allowed to play games and browse the net between assignments. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the administrator account of the computers. This means I am unable to install DirectX, which prevents me from playing several of my favorite games.
Please, before any of you banter me with morality issues, understand the following:
1. I'm not trying to gain access to Administrator, which I'm sure is protected for a reason. I'm simply trying to install DirectX on my computer to play games. Quite to the contrary, I do not wish to log in to Administrator because I'm sure that could be easily tracked.
2. The person running the class has no problems with us installing programs on the computers.
So, is there any way to install DirectX without admin? This is a Windows 2k system. I'm looking specifically to workarounds and/or a "cracked" version of DirectX. I'm not sure if such a thing would be illegal - after all, DirectX is a free program and its not like installing it would be a hostile action.
Also: I can't simply ask the network admin to install it for me, because he is almost never at the school. He only comes if problems arrive.
One can also use fastFetch. Gives you a quick hardware spec in a CMD or PowerShell console:

If you download and extract it, you can create a shortcut in the fastFetch folder to open in Powershell. Use the following command in the Target field:
"C:\Program Files\PowerShell\7\pwsh.exe" -NoExit -Command ".\fastfetch.exe"
Looking back at your message, you mention "less harsh terms." If by that you mean that requiring the pentagon to pass an audit is harsh, then to that I would say, that was already passed into law back in 1990. I wasn't planning to debate if that law was reasonable or not. If you are calling it harsh, then that is your opinion and we can disagree, but our options matter little considering it passed long ago. If you don't think the law itself is harsh, then I really can't understand how a reasonable enforcement of said law could be considered harsh either.
I have a strong feeling more than one store did that, and idk who is to blame more, Nintendo's terrible choice of packaging layout, or the sellers.
I can't wait to see some class action lawsuit if Nintendo or said retailer doesn't step up. The question is what wonderful name we can come up with for the thing. Screengate(Staingate) already happened with Apple, so that's taken.
