Dell may buy Alienware

Recommended Posts

not a good mix

on one had you got dell, ugly, depending on model either cheap or overpriced, and rather low quality

on the second had you got alienware, also ugly, all models overpriced and rather decent build quality

i just don't see this having a good outcome.

ok they maybe expansive but there is no manufator that can pull out so much power out of these small lappy's

there are no other computer manufactors that can do this some little onces like VooDooPC too but HP, DELL, IBM, etc etc etc etc etc all of them can't create this...... Quality and qantity and performance is everything.

so nodoubt about Alienware.... I'll try to get an order for my company to change all HP crappy machines to Alienware PC's, work will be done ever faster...... that wil be an Order of 500 PC and 100 Lappy's

so now I need to get my bosh so far he'll do it.......

if dell buys Alienware it will be more global ?

Now you can only buy alineware at some places (us and uk) as i know and yes they ship it global but i cost more then or does it ?

iwas going to buy a laptop some year ago but that never happend  so do you have to pay alot more if they ship it to sweden ?

just try till the way of payment will be shown from there you'll see the amount of shipping costs.

did it and shipping costs are local in USA $104,00 ground delivery so to get it to europe will be already over $ 254,- :-(

and that's funny alienware.com has a Sentia for USD 749,- if you look for the same machine on alienware.co.uk the same machine costs GBP 789,- that's a big differance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

www.FX-converter.com

749 US Dollar = 426.822 British Pound

749 British Pound (GBP) = 1,314.37 US Dollar (USD)

it's even more strange?!?!?!?!?!

on alienware.com you can select a 7200rpm drive. on alienware.co.uk they only have 5400rpm drives.

Sentia M3200 total (UK) ?1,394.17

1,343.03 US Dollar = 765.333 British Pound

1,343.03 British Pound (GBP) = 2,356.79 US Dollar (USD)

Sentia M3200 total (US) $1,394.00

1,394.00 US Dollar = 794.379 British Pound

1,394.00 British Pound (GBP) = 2,446.23 US Dollar (USD)

a vacation and order one is better then ship it?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I hate the alien theme and would never buy an Alienware just because of that, especially the green ones. But I guess when your company name is Alienware, then your computer must look like an alien .. well.. hard-ware. I think if you know how to build a game PC, from selecting good components to optimizing the softwares, then its better and much cheaper to build it yourself. For everyone else who wants a kick-ass game machine but doesn't have the knowledge to build it themselves, I guess the Alienware is the way to go, although more costly.

I don't see why Dell would buy Alienware, they should just redesign the XPS machines, make them look and perform better.

No problem. If I didnt build my own systems or if a friend wanted to buy a pre-built gaming system I would buy Alienware and would always recommend them over Dell, HP and other cheapo pre-build companys.

I agree dell,hp,compaq are cheap junk

well if you buy them from the USA you will have to pay loads for shipping and loads for customs tax!

Dell won't ruin anything if they do go ahead and buy Alienware. Dell makes the best OEM computers out there and adding Alienware to their gaming line will only make it better.

I think Alienware VooDoo And Summit are better Oem's than dell I use to volunteer at Computers For Schools Ontario and Everyweek We Worked On 80-100 dells thats 80-100 dells that that had some problem

The Only Thing Dell Is Good At Is Making Lots Of Computers At A Low Price

it was easy to work on most dells after I got use to them

but if they used standard cases power supplys and parts it would have been easy to fix them

"Dell has two problems, it is approaching stagnancy in their main markets, and is about as exciting as an American cheese on white bread sandwich. Michael Dell's fairly desperate PR raising attempt at every CES keynote shows it wants to look 'cool' but can't, no matter how hard it tries. That is why an acquisition or 12 makes sense, lord knows it has the cash."

Mix Alienwares cases with Dell's interior components and you end up overall with an ugly looking pile of crap, modified motherboards and no-name PSU's.

Mix Alienwares components with Dell's exterior and you have an okay looking PC with extremely overpriced parts.

Somethings gotta give!

The only reason why people call dells cheap junk is because they don't offer amd processors.

I have built my own computers in the past. I have had 4 power supply go on me. yes 4. I bought a dell machine and its still going strong. Far longer then the other computers that i built.

We have xps machines at work that take a severe beating everyday and are still running pretty good.A machine built by seperate parts would not beable to take the beating that the xps machines at work do.

They get food dropped on them (stupid teens not listening to the signs and eating food by the computers) ,kicked ,moved about ,doors and cdrom drives played with, etc

Dells might not be the fastest machines around but they sure can take a beating.

Idk about alienware but if they bought them they dont have to change anything.

This could be dells way of adding amd processors to their lineup.

Sure they could take the beating. Probably even better because Dell just uses the cheapest parts they can find that do the job.

If your home built machines can't do the job it's your own fault.

never will i do buisness with alienware any olnger do to even thinking about this.

Dell puts crap systems out and calls them powerful, they are loaded with crap that boggs the system down and thier customer service.. you cant understand any of them.

I'd take a Dell over that over-priced green turd. Good lord, they can be bought at Best Buy, what's so spectacular about Alienware?

Best thing Dell could do would be to buy Alienware, tone down the cases a bit so they don't look like a basement nerds' wet dream, and drop the prices a bit.

What are you talking about? (I've never used their home devision, only their business devision) Their Gold Tech Support is top-notch if you ask me. The company I work for does have a handfull of systems without GTS, but most do. So yeah, their support sucks without GTS :x

As for their systems, the business systems are awesome from what I've seen. And besides that, Dell buying Alienware could actually help them... their prices are WAY to high :x At any rate, maybe this could help push Dell into the AMD market

Dell has fixed the "I can't understand them" issue with Indian representatives. If you bought a high-end Dimension desktop or an XPS or any buisness PC, you will be directed to an American rep.
