Good, maybe Alienwares by Dell wont be so damn expensive. Dell does a damn good job with weekly and monthly deals. Hell, having Dell support with an Alienware would be nice for a change.

We have one Alienware Sentia and one Alienware Hivemind at work. We have several Dells that were purchased by the previous i.t. guy. Based on my limited experience: I think Alienware's support, based in Costa Rica, is better than Dell's in India or wherever they have it now.

Dell has fixed the "I can't understand them" issue with Indian representatives. If you bought a high-end Dimension desktop or an XPS or any buisness PC, you will be directed to an American rep.

Not only dell does this, all the other computer product companies do it also.. i've called linksys before and got directed to India, and i've called also called other pc companies for tech support and same thing

Alienware is way too overpriced anyways. I'd rather get a dell or just build a computer. I wouldn't get an alienware even if I was rich, now that I can just build a better computer for cheaper.

ok they maybe expansive but there is no manufator that can pull out so much power out of these small lappy's

there are no other computer manufactors that can do this some little onces like VooDooPC too but HP, DELL, IBM, etc etc etc etc etc all of them can't create this...... Quality and qantity and performance is everything.

so nodoubt about Alienware.... I'll try to get an order for my company to change all HP crappy machines to Alienware PC's, work will be done ever faster...... that wil be an Order of 500 PC and 100 Lappy's :laugh:

I'm going to let you in on a huge computer industry secret that will shock you: Alienware doesn't manufacture any laptops. They are mostly made by Clevo now, and the same models are also sold by Voodoo, Falcon NW, Eurocom, Sager, etc...

hehe thanks for the comments - well every brand has its pros and cons - reformatting, etc. takes time - and time is money (most employees don't work for free) - some businesses, employees sit around twiddling their thumbs a lot of the time - other businesses are understaffed and do not have any spare human resources to spend on additional tasks (I am not the president of any company so I'm not liable) - it is nice how the alienware is ready to roll out of the box

actually by this point I have finally convinced them to let me order the parts and build the pc's myself (I was partly encouraged by what I read on neowin forums), which is what we did with the last two - again time is money, but this has worked out well for us

dell business pcs ship with considerably less fluff than the home ones, and no one is going to buy an alienware for a business. the point becomes moot because the only people that really have to deal with bloat are people buying normal pcs, and the ones who care about it will get rid of it on their own.

I hope this is true, only cause alienware has the worst support EVER and dell has pretty good support. 3 year old laptop, and alienware had it more then me cause of things kept breaking on it.

When you put your own computer together and something goes ,unless it was a super freak accident then you have to pay for it yourself.

My experience with dell is they send me a new part right away next day shipping and I don't have to pay for the part .

My last pc that I put together had a top of the line power supply at the time and that went in about 3 months. My dell pc has been running off the same outlet (other computer was chucked after the power supply blew) for 2 years.

I don't understand why people hate dells so much. For businesses their isnt anything any better then dell.

For a busienss you need replacement parts as soon as possible. what is better then free and next day shipping?

If they buy alien ware this could be dells way of getting amd parts.

if dell all of a sudden starts putting amd chips in their computers watch how many of the people here stop saying that dell stinks.

Got a secret for you;

Most businesses with large numbers of systems would have a volume license key with a custom CD image that is deployed throughout the company. No decent company that I've ever seen just pulls a computer out of the box and plops in on the employees desk. The system is wiped, OS and applications are installed, then it is sent out. This is also why you can order Dell systems with no OS media and with a drive that has not been formatted.

Let me tell ya somthing about building them yourself since you more then likly know everything about building computers... Well first off YOU will have to order all the parts pick them up co-ordinate them HOPE that they all arrive in a decent amount of time... THEN you MUST install OS and all software for them to run. Configure these systems then put them up on a network... YOUR job just got more complicated and hence MORE TIME, And since Time is money in your world this is a BIG mistake. Heres what to look forward to when a system goes down... Same as normal right pick up the phone and TALK? WEll you are half right. You will have to diagnoss it your self down to the specific part/parts then call the mfg. WOOPS This might take a while and it JUST may COST you some $$$. SO overall productivity is increased and time is less when you buy from an OEM company like DELL Alienware or whatever. Becuause you have up to at least 3-4 years ON-SITE service for parts and phone support. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT PART WENT THE OEM WILL HELP YOU AND GET IT DONE!!! SO go back to the drawing boards and rethink this becasue it will be wakless hours at night for you and trouble for the comany. Posibly loosing your job over a decision like this. So have fun in what ever you choose.

This is to all the people out there that think Alienware is a "HIGH END" computer company. This high end computer is from there "BOTTOM LINE" models... Whats that you ASK? YES they are reaching out the broad home general user customer base that don't like to shell out a fortune. AND SURE you ask for this system to cost so much it has everything you need right? WRONG... Notice no monitor? what about that 90 day service? HEHE S A M E A S D E L L ... Well you might be asking IT HAS BETTER PARTS? RIGHT? MAYBE but nothing says anything about it except that it uses a 915 mobo... where do they get it from THEY make It? NO somone else does and they just happen to have a stamp and say Alienware. So this is how things work... At least in mu opinion. Everyone makes there own. The parts they use are the essencially the same. Maybe with a few minor tweeks here and there just to make it enough for them to call it theres. All of you who think this is better that that and bla bla bla... Don't have a clue. Here is what it boils down to. You have haters and you all like to strike up arguments and get the lovers of both sides furious and then you have threads like this with Doug arguing a pointless point of how time is money and he is going to just build his own for the company he works for which we all know will cost more time and more $. SO..
