cost to build a computer with everything BEST

Recommended Posts

You can easily get to $10,000. If you go for a high-end workstation (but not server) you'd be spending at least $2500 on the processors and motherboard.

and that's not including moving over to SCSI which will cost you a few pennies more. And with that, I'd be concerned with a 600W PSU, and would rather get a PC P&C 850W or 1KW version which is another few more pennies too

Is this with best parts or most expensive parts, because there is probably a big difference

Since you have unlimited money, I would go for the Fujitsu MAU3147NC 147GB 15,000 RPM SCSI Ultra320 80pin Hard Drive hard drives. They are around $800 each on newegg.

Well, I think we've made the point that $3,500 is a little low for a top of the line PC. You could just get an HP Superdome for a cool $1 million...

For the ram i would be going with: OCZ EL PC2-5400 DDR2 667MHz Dual Channel Gold Memory

and that's only 2x 1024MB which is around $364cnd before tax.

it actually almost is, what is the best then?

not gonna go in all details

here are the CPUs, make that TWO ;)

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...pricewatch&NR=1

then a nice Tyan board, make your pick, boards with nforce, can be enabled to work in SLI

http://www.tyan.com/products/html/opteron.html

depending on what board you get, either 16 or 24gb of memory.

SLI for now, Quad SLI later.

and they do make 1000W PSU

you want the best? there is no limit, you could spend millions devloping a whole new architecture to hand 1500 cpus at once and many other things equally rediculous.

Okay - this is my interpretation...

CPU: AMD Opteron 885 Dual-Core 2.6GHz (TIMES 2)

Board: AMD-8000™ Series chipset Thunder K8QW – supports 16 GB memory

PSU: TURBO-COOL? 1KW

Memory: OCZ Platinum PC4000 1024 MB (TIMES 16) =16 GB memory>

Hard Drive: Fujitsu MAU3147NC15000 RPM>

Video Card: 7900GTX(TIMES 4)>

Case: Antec P180

Cooling: Cooler Master Liquid Cooling + Silverstone 120MM ? 5 + OCZ Ramsink ? 16

Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-FI ELITE PRO

DVD Drive: LG Electronics Super-Multi GSA-2166D

** This is just the main stuff – no monitor / speakers etc.

[ I am not so sure all the cooling supplies would fit ]

...Some say its impossible for computers to touch consoles...
