I just got Dec Full 05, Feb Update 06 and March Update 06. Dec and Feb installed fine, March did too I guess??

At the end or near the end of March Update Install I got this window/error at the EULA agreement when I selected I Agree, and clicked Next:

AutoPatcher

Error: Unable to retrive the version info size. Perhaps the module name or file name is invalid, (-2127660984)

(OK)

I am not too sure where to post bugs to the March 2006 release. If this is not the correct area, please let me know.

I noticed an issue with installing KB891122. I have checked it to be installed, but it doesn't seem to be installed.

After looking, it seems to fail the silent install do to a command line option that is not valid.

You need to remove the, "/DisallowSystemRestore," option on the with backups or with out backups for it to run properly. To validate, ff you run it on the command line without the, "/quiet," you will see it complain.

Where do we post updates to various tools included? I noticed a updated sync toy, ver 1.2, that should be included in April's release.

I also noticed several PowerToys that never appear to be installed, even though they were.

Clear Type Tuner's detection seems to specify a decimal value, which should be a hex value.

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\C2394E9C7148C4E40A3EEE358401BAD4\Version=1010000"

maybe should be changed to:

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\C2394E9C7148C4E40A3EEE358401BAD4\Version=0x1010000"

I haven't figured out why the rest aren't showing as installed.

AutoPatcher releases happen only after the second tuesday of every month, as this is Microsoft's patch day. Then the team has to create modules for the patches, add in any extras for full releases, this can take a number of days, so you're gonna be looking for roughly the 13th or 14th this month at the earliest. (This is just my estimate and I'm not officially part of the AutoPatcher team so don't hold my estimate as an official one)

Full releases are a pain in the arse for distrobutors and mirrors, as transferring ~7 huge files around and stuff takes time, however:

im 100% sure there will be next month [April] though since were up to ~40MB of changes since the last.

so yes, there will be a Full/Lite for April

Nice!!

I'm waiting for portuguese brasilian release :)

Thnks again!

For those who do not understand Portuguese... Sorry, this message is for Portuguese speakers!eakers!

^ It's for portuguese speakers, but you must speak in english in this forum...

And there is a AutoPatcher 2000 in Portuguese (Portugal).

Well, i'm trying to release all Portuguese (Portugal) versions and the Portuguese (Brazil) XP version. And i didn't release March versions because i didn't have time (and i still don't have much) and because there weren't any critical/important updates.

And yes, i agree. We should have, at least, one brazilian (or a team) working in the Portuguese (Brazil) versions. they even could release AutoPatcher 2000 and 2003.

^ i'll check the startmen entry removal before the next release is completed. the uninstall desktop icon is from the older installers, i'm going to add remove instructions for it to all the next releases!

Have you changed the NSIS script?!?

pre-march we used v1 (didnt actually have a ver # but thats what ive dubbed it), i then did a huge amount of work on it and we now use v3.7.1, you can get it from the trans pack thread along with documentation.

(First asked in January, and all but ignored)

If I beg really hard, could we get a small tweak in there to freakin' disable sticky keys? I hate having to do it manually every time, especially since once AP runs, you can't disable it manually anymore. (Since the accessability.cpl is removed for some reason, you have to reinstall it to disable them.) It's a real pain.

Also, can we have a fix to stop having to manually re-load the Windows Audio panel thingie from the Windows disc after AP runs? Why does that bugger off EVERY time I run AP on any of the systems I use it on?!

And maybe a way to get rid of Outlook fully? Stop the My Pictures folder from coming up? Get rid of NetMeeting? Take out that Xerox folder in Program files that has nothing in it but sits there ****ing me off?

^ if you can find the details of the tweak for me in the next couple of days, i'll add it in.

personally i have never had to manually disable it, its disabled by default, and my accessibility control applet is still here. maybe you could track down the tweak causing the problem, im affraid i dont have the time to do that.

again, i dont know what you mean, ive never had to reload anything off the setup disk.

outlook - not going to happen, too many people use it and too many people just tick everything when they run autopatcher. i dont want people to end up having to reinstall windows. i also dont want people having to reinstall things from disk and then be exposed because patches to the components in question are registered as installed, but the files are actually older versions. the removal options for msjava & windows messenger are exceptions.

- my pics - again, no idea what you mean, coming up where?

- netmeeting - not something im confident in removing, id rather have it left where it is

- xerox - dont know what the hell its for, but again, id prefer to leave it alone

if you can show me trusted sources of info/recomendations/etc for xerox & netmeeting i will consider them though (dont have time myself).

sorry so negative, but on the brighter side im sure you can easily knock up a batch file/modules for the others for yourself, and if you get stuck doing so you cn always come here for help ;).

Hookay, I'll start with the first thing I can find first.

- http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm <-- Search for "sticky". It's a registry tweak. Should be easy to impliament. (And I've done thousands of installs. Every one I've had has had sticky keys on by default in Windows. Are you using a custom version maybe?)

Also good from there would be "Remove/Disable CD Burning Capability" (It's just the default Windows one. Nero has problems when it's disabled.), & "Empty Temporary Internet Files on Exit".

- "Uninstall NetMeeting" is also there. If you're not up to making it a full time module, how about an addon one?

- Xerox folder? It's a useless folder there to stop you from overwriting a file that installs itself anyway when you install a certain Xerox item. I don't know why it's there at all. http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/.../16/258220.aspx

- People really just tick everything and let 'er rip? That's a rather silly thing to do... If anyone can make a module, I'd be very grateful.

- http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1097791278 <-- Stopping Windows from automatically recreating My Music / Pictures / Videos constantly in My Doccuments

^ stickykeys & IEtemp tweaks added

cd burning, i dont understand from the above whether your telling me it sould be disabled or enabled.

netmeeting im not adding because it requires you reinstall from disk to re-enable.

xerox, im not doing this because apparently its protected by WFP to prevent a couple of files being overwritten should they ever exist. i dont want to circumvent this protection.

my docs, im also not doing. to do it you need to unregister a dll which will completely disable the mydocs functions which is something im not happy with. another possibility is to delete the registry keys mentioned further down the page you linked too, however i cant do this because theres three different one to delete and you may not want them all removed...

--

so,

- cd burning - i will add tis if you let me know what the desired effect is - disable/enable?

- the other three, modules can be made for you seperately. you can either wait till i've finished this months releases, or you can make a seperate post in the forum, and maybe someone will help you. one thing - im not going to make these three official, so dont ask! oh, and if doing it, tell me your preferences on the mydocs thing - disable all functionality, or one or more specific folders!

cd burning - i will add tis if you let me know what the desired effect is - disable/enable

It'd be to disable XP's built-in CD burning capability since it either slows down or causes problems occasionally with others.

As far as the My Docs thing, it's just be to disable the constant recreation of My Pictures, My Music, and My Videos after they have been deleted. It doesn't disable My Docs altogether. (I wouldn't want that!) And thanks for all the help and actually taking requests. You can count on a donation from me!

    • I think it depends on what you're looking for to do, and the time you have to spare. With my Dwarf 3, I easily spend 3-4 hour sessions; half an hour driving to an un-light polluted place, unpacking and setting up the smart scope + tripod for equatorial tracking, mucking around with settings, maybe shoot some calibration frames, spending a few hours shooting, merging with past photo sessions, etc. It's crazy how time flies and I often get home later than I expected. It's something I still need to set aside a good part of an evening to do, all in all. For one session, where you often need like four for best results when it comes to deep space objects. With practice, I can probably begin cutting time here but I think where smart scopes find their home is among people who love to shoot the night sky but don't have the spare time to go deep with the "navigator level" attunement to the night sky itself. Having said this, _if_ you have even more time to spend on this hobby, it will probably be even more rewarding to do it more by hand and learn the skies and the details of how it all works.
    • I misread the title and thought Teams itself would be redesigned. Imagine having this one as a native WinUI app.
    • Dell, HP PCs ran into endless reboot, BitLocker recovery loops but Windows 11 isn't to blame by Sayan Sen Last month Neowin reported on a major issue on Dell systems wherein a bug in its official support tool was leading to endless blue screen of death (BSOD) and restarts. Following our report, Dell officially acknowledged its SupportAssist-related crash issue, confirming that the culprit is not Microsoft's operating system but rather a faulty version of its own remediation software. In a newly published support advisory, Dell stated that version 5.5.16.0 of Dell SupportAssist Remediation and Alienware SupportAssist Remediation can trigger blue screen errors and unexpected system restarts. The company notes that the problematic component operates independently of the main SupportAssist application, meaning users should not remove the primary SupportAssist software when troubleshooting the issue. According to Dell, the crashes are linked specifically to the SupportAssist Remediation service, which is bundled with SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools, and as such it has since released an updated version, 5.5.16.1, which is said to resolve the problem. Affected users are advised to first verify whether version 5.5.16.0 is installed by checking the Installed Apps section in Windows Settings. If so, Dell recommends updating SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools through either SupportAssist's "Update Software" feature or Dell Command Update. Dell also advises users to back up important data before performing the update and to ensure systems remain connected to power throughout the installation process. If you are still having issues though make sure to report to the Dell support forum. As it turns out though Dell is not the only PC maker currently dealing with update-related headaches as HP is also facing a separate but probably equally frustrating issue involving recent Windows Secure Boot updates that were released with recent Windows 11 Patch Tuesdays. Similar to Dell, HP also put up its own support article where it explains the issue. The company says that affected devices could hit a brick wall when booting as they run into a BitLocker recovery loop after the April 2026 updates. The problem appears to affect systems wherein the new UEFI Secure Boot CA 2023 certificates fail to apply properly. As such affected users will find themselves entering their recovery key over and over again despite the system otherwise functioning normally. HP says such PCs should be updated to the latest available BIOS version and configured with the necessary Secure Boot certificates before installing Microsoft's Windows 11 Patch Tuesday updates. Systems that are already experiencing the problem may require BIOS configuration changes to restore normal boot behavior. Admins can find information regarding that in the support article here on HP's official website.
    • Getting further away from the artistic study of mental disease that was the first game... (which never needed any sequels to begin with) But I get it, a company has to make money. And the second was at least visually impressive, if not in any other way.
    • If its the devs fault you would think Unreal would help M$ take full advantage of Unreal and work with them to fix the performance issues. Otherwise they are catching unwarranted bad press.
