Phony PS3 screenshot busted?

First off, let me extend the olive branch of peace to our new neighbors at PS3Fanboy. Here's a snazzy "screenshot" from the PS3 title Motorstorm presented at last year's E3:

And here's an actual game image from Motorstorm taken at the recent Game Developers Conference in San Jose (click for larger image):

I know it's not a 1: 1 comparison, and perhaps the quality of the grab is poor, but do Kutaragi & Ko. really think Xbox 360 fanboys aren't going to bust balls over this stuff? Because that looks painfully PS2.5. Maybe it's from the PSP version.

It's not like Sony has a history of grossly exaggerating the capabilities of their consoles and passing off CGI fluff as gameplay.

Don't shoot the messenger! :p

Edit: Forgot the 'r' in Motorstorm in the title.

What did you expect everybody was crying "its not ingame". And nobody claimed it was gameplay.

The second screenshot is also way too dark.

Everybody but the fanboys. And the second screenshot is dark because it was taken covertly by a camera at the GDC.

But anyway, supposedly it's still a work in progress, so maybe it'll look better come launch.

lol, i love how people compare screenshots, one full of action, car is flipping over, particles and taken from direct video to a screenshot from a tech demo, a car in the middle of nowhere, no lighting, can barely see anything, taken with a camera from a tv screen.... yea perfect comparison.

edit: here is another crappy screenshot, AT LEAST compare it to this one

I do not understand why people cared about these games (Motorstorm and Killzone 2) to begin with. Even if the developers would be able to make them look like the E3 movies the games would be probably not so good looking at their last games.

Now if Polyphony Digital would have showed a Motorstorm type movie I understand people getting excited.

Amazing how much people read into dark fuzzy photos.

Its like analyzing satalite pictures during the cold war :)

I wish Sony and developers would start releasing screenshots of what they have so far.

I don't see why they have to keep things secret since the xbox360 is already out in the market, and revo isn't about super duper graphics.

    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article?
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
