Speed up the blade. I noticed the sound comes in before the blade hits the words. You don't like to watch a movie when the lips are moving yet the sound of the voice is ahead of the persons mouth. Do ya though?

Hi everyone - i was thinking - is there any way that i can have, say, 3 different flash intros - as in, one is selected at random so it's a little bit different each time you come to the site? Is there any way to do that?? If so i could instead change the compotition to be ?35 for the 3 selected... or would you rather it be a winner take all scenario? I don't mind really but i like both entries so far, and would be good to be able to use both.

Still hoping someone can sort out my idea of having the logo then the ninja-star comes off and tears the rest of the logo to shreds!

Heya

oks, had a go at doing a shredding like animation, though i still prefer the origin :p

shreding: http://blackima.com/blah5.php

original woosh: http://blackima.com/blah4.php

and a mix :p : http://blackima.com/blah6.php

btw nice work, fall3n ;)

thanks bud, right back atcha :D i still wanna know how you did the blur, it looks like it's an image blur and then turns into the regular image after the blur. I tried to do an image blur, but mine didn't come out blury enuff :p

you got the urls switched. the orginal is the shred and the shred is the original :p

woops, didnt realise that. thanks

You're right, it's just a simple motion blur done in photoshop. Tween the blured imaged to move from A to B. At B delete the blurred image and put down the vector one over it

Awesome stuff blackima!!!

So, is there a way i could have 3 flash intros, and to somehow cleverly work the html so that it selects one of the flash files at random??????? Coz that would be great.

Otherwise blah6 is winning!!!!!

Heh, glad you like it ;)

Now, this has actually turned into quite a moral dilemna for me.

On the one hand I could say "oh, there's no way of getting flashes to randomly load, you can only have one winner" and as a result I get the ?75 that I've really needed (unless fall3n gives an even better one:))) and so me=happy. However by choosing to do that, i'm basically robbing fall3n of ?35 and making his hard work go unrewarded anon top of thatb> it means you only get 1 flash instead of 2.

On the other hand I could say "I don't know how to do it, but I'm near 100% sure it's possible and I can definetly find out for you". As a result I only get ?:( :(, but it also means fall3n doesn't go away empty handed (he gets 35) and it also means shredacademy gets 2 flashes for the price of 1, which means fall3n + shred = more happy

I know which option is the morally right option. But ?75 looks so so nice, being a poor incomless student and all...

urgh

Ok. right way is always the best way. And the way that makes more people better off rather than one person getting really better off is always the right way. So I guess the decision's actually pretty simple:

Yup. I can find a way of making the flashes randomly load. I can either do it by javascript or the prefered way of using "loadMovie" in actionscipt in flash. That way the flashes would be able to randomly load. I'm happy to split the winning so long as fall3n is. At the moment there are only 2 intros, though, but I think Aqua is working on one, so that'd make 3 (or you ould just stick with two if he doesnt make one)

Does that sound alri;)t ;)?

Blackima you are the man!

Don't worry you are definately going to be rewarded.

To be honest i would only do the random thing if i had at least 3 good intros, which is unlikely considering i can only pay ?35 for each. But if fall3n wants me to ue his He'll need to change the font of the 'enter' to something like yours blackima to keep it consistent and smarter.

Here's an idea for another intro: The logo starts on the screen, then the ninja-star starts revving, like a car, then whizzes off to the right........then comes back and slices through the middle, then the two words fall off the bottom..

would that be hard? just tossing ideas out there in case someone else wants ?35. If i dont get 3 good intros then blackima wins all, but if i do do 3 then il give you ?50 anyway for all your effort

Heh, you're a good guy, shr;) ;)

Njust/b> in case no one comes up with a 3rd entry, i'll throw in an extra one free of charge so that you get your 3 intr:) :)

http://blackima.com/blah8.php <-- the new entry on its own

http://blackima.com/blah7.php <-- random of my one, my second one and fall3n's one

(and cute favicons, cool rik)

I don't know why, but that second intro of yours just made me crack up laughing. It's really good and all; I guess it was just the sweet sound effect of it. It reminds me of a throwind knife just making a thud after sticking in someone's skin.

Hi thanks cool rik but i cant download the file it says invalid or corrupt????

Can someone perhaps stick a screen shot up for me? thanks

and i like it blackima you and i are clearly on the same wavelength ;) maybe i should just give you ?35 x3 ....... will still give it a couple of days as someone said they were working on it.

Thanks for that link i'll make one myself!

I know this is totally off topic but as i said before i sell my guitar guide on CD and am trying to get an html file to autorun when the CD is put in. I copied another CD by making an autorun file called autorun.inf with the contents being:

[autorun]

OPEN=Welcome.html

But nothing happens... any ideas???????????

I know i ought to ask in a different forum catagory but i don't like to barge into a new community firing questions

    • Quantum computer does something for first time, creates "certified truly random" numbers by Sayan Sen Image by Ron Lach via Pexels A group of researchers from JPMorganChase, Quantinuum, Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and The University of Texas at Austin has reached a major milestone in quantum computing. In a new paper published in Nature, they describe how they used a 56-qubit quantum computer to generate random numbers and then proved those numbers were truly random using powerful classical supercomputers. This achievement, called "certified randomness," could be useful in areas like cryptography, privacy, and fairness. Certified randomness means the numbers are not just unpredictable, but also freshly created and mathematically verified. Classical computers can’t do this on their own. They usually rely on hardware random-number generators, which can be tampered with. But with this new method, even if someone tried to interfere with the quantum computer, they wouldn’t be able to fake the randomness and still pass the certification. The idea behind the protocol was first proposed by Scott Aaronson, a computer science professor at UT Austin. He worked with his former postdoctoral researcher, Shih-Han Hung, to support the experimental team. “When I first proposed my certified randomness protocol in 2018, I had no idea how long I’d need to wait to see an experimental demonstration of it,” Aaronson said. “Building upon the original protocol and realizing it is a first step toward using quantum computers to generate certified random bits for actual cryptographic applications.” To carry out the experiment, the team accessed Quantinuum’s System Model H2-1 quantum computer over the internet. They used a method called random circuit sampling (RCS), which is known to be extremely hard for classical computers to simulate. The process had two main steps. First, the researchers sent the quantum computer a series of challenge circuits created from a small seed of randomness. The quantum computer had to solve these challenges by picking one of many possible answers at random. Then, in the second step, classical supercomputers checked the results to confirm the randomness was real. The team used several supercomputers with a combined performance of 1.1 × 10¹⁸ floating-point operations per second (1.1 ExaFLOPS) to certify 71,313 bits of entropy. This means they proved that the random bits couldn’t have been generated by classical methods, at least not under realistic conditions and assumptions. “This work marks a major milestone in quantum computing, demonstrating a solution to a real-world challenge using a quantum computer beyond the capabilities of classical supercomputers today,” said Marco Pistoia, Head of Global Technology Applied Research at JPMorganChase. Quantinuum had upgraded its H2 system to 56 qubits in June 2024. Thanks to its high accuracy and ability for any qubit to connect with any other, the system was able to perform RCS far better than previous machines. This upgrade, combined with Aaronson’s protocol, made the breakthrough possible. “Today, we celebrate a pivotal milestone that brings quantum computing firmly into the realm of practical, real-world applications,” said Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President and CEO of Quantinuum. “These results in quantum computing were enabled by the world-leading U.S. Department of Energy computing facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory,” said Travis Humble, director of the Quantum Computing User Program at ORNL. While quantum computers have shown they can outperform classical ones in theory, turning that power into something useful has been a challenge. This experiment shows that quantum computers can now do something practical that classical computers simply can’t match. • That heavily compressed and pixelated image IS NOT THE HIGH RESOLUTION wallpaper! It looks like absolute trash due to the excessive pixelation from the multiple rounds of compression on it. Like, seriously, on my 10-yr-old PC it doesn't take more than a simple image viewer to see that this is not a high-res image to begin with!
