OMG... Rooney's injured...

Recommended Posts

He's currently undergoing intensive oxygen dome treatment... basically he sleeps in pure oxygen... speeding up recovery apparently...

With Rooney most likely not destined to make the World Cup... play one striker and stick Gerrard in behind the striker... or play 4-1-4-1... with Ledly King in a Defensive Midfield position...

I still think 4-4-1-1 would be best. place Beckham in the middle with Lampard and Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole... Great midfield.

I'd also take Lennon with me (who is not a forward btw to the guy a few up) and i would replace Shaun Wright-Phillips at half time... giving him an instruction before the match "run the **** out of this left back as your only getting a half..." left back will be like "WTF who is this?" then when he sees him subbed at half time he'll see Lennon come on and be like "who's this runt?" then the left back will collapse from exhuastion running after them :)

My idea anyways.

He might recover in time but he wont really be match fit and have the sharpness required in the World Cup, but he can maybe make it back for the quarter finals if we get there.

The idea of 4-4-1-1 is a good system with Gerrard given a licence to rome is a good system as Gerrard has been amazing in the the position behind the striker, but he is amazing practically anywere. Sven seems to favour Lampard to play more attacking though (since he cant defend), and England's tactic is basically to give him the ball just outside the penalty area and let him smash it just like he does at Chelsea :/. I dont agree with that tactic.

Lennon might get the place to be honest, but we only need to right wingers and Beckham and and SWP fulfill that role quite well. Sven wont drop Beckham as he is the captain and I think he has to play most games because of his market value, which was a rumour I heard.

Anyway, this will undoubtably be one of the best World Cup's of recent times.

I dont want to say that that rooney is our only chance of winning the world cup, but he plays a massive part. And now with this injury he just got at the chelsea game, is it all over for us...

Let me know you opinions on the matter, and also keep the updates coming in on his situation...

Oh noes.

Oh well if Gollum hadn't dived then he wouldn't be injured right now. He was barely touched and theres no escaping it. He dived and got injured because of it, end of story.

stupid injurys seem to be happening more and more recently. Remember Lua Lua and pompey? Right when they need him most, scores, does a few backflips and injures himself.

To be honest, diving happens in every team. If you're going to do it, lesson is do it right and dont injure yourself. Funnily enough, seeing as its Gollum who's injured i'm glad he's out, now we can get back to real football.

I found something interesting on Sky Sports. To be honest I feel that Gerrard, Beckham, Rooney (x2), Owen, Neville and King breaking there metatarsals all in the space of four years is more than a coincidence :/

Former Liverpool midfielder Craig Johnston claims Wayne Rooney's World Cup-threatening metatarsal injury was directly attributable to the boots he wore at Stamford Bridge.

Johnston, who was born in South Africa but raised in Australia, designed footwear for Adidas upon his playing retirement and has been a critic of recent boot designs.

England internationals David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen have all suffered a similar injury to that of Rooney's and Johnston insists it is no coincidence.

"Rooney's metatarsal was broken because his studs engaged in the turf at Stamford Bridge and it didn't release quickly enough so these injuries are a direct cause of the studs sticking when they should be releasing," Johnston told Sky Sports News.

"It has to be looked at immediately. I've been talking about this for two or three years.

"I did originally design the Predator traction studs which Gerrard, Zidane and Beckham wear and, towards the end of my time at Adidas, I kept saying we need to make these studs smaller so they don't grip as much so the forces on the knees, ankles and metatarsals aren't as severe.

"It's a responsibility factor and everybody in the sports merchandise industry has a responsibility to the ordinary customer as well as these highly-tuned pieces of machinery that are our professional footballers."

i think people are blowing this all out of proportion, yeah the team will miss him, but it's not the disaster many people are saying it is. At least England still have their best player Steven Gerrard and at least they still have a really strong defence.

Amen to that!

And good luck to the Gooners in the European Cup Final... Bring another one to England (Ours is staying @ Anfield)

And without Rooney in the team we stand a better chance of accumulating red cards, and being 1 man down at a crucial point thanks to his wreckless temper..

Don't get me wrong he's a superb player but he's lost his temper so many times playing for England.. and i'd rather we didn't have such a liability in the team over someone who is not quite as good but a bit more easy going! :)

"Not sure about the england defence, Rio doesn't seem that great and i feel has been poor this season.

Other then that who the hell is in our defence?"

"Ashley Cole

John Terry

Gary Neville.

I say that's a more than able defence"

Anyone missing out on Jamie Carragher too, probably one of Englands best defenders this season, along with Terry.

Both Nevilles have been poor, Rio hasnt really done much, and Ashley Cole has been injured. We might end up with Young playing too.

I agree with that. I would also like to wish Arsenal good luck in the CL final, as Arsenal play great football, have some great players, are about to get a great stadium and they have many nice fans...

If I had to pick out of Manure, Chelsea or Arsenal to win anything it would be Arsenal every time.

I cant believe Carra is behind Ferdinand in the pecking order, Sven has obviously lost his marbles, I hope the new manager comes to his senses and picks him.

who on earth wants to drop Beckham? there is no greater passer/crosser of the ball in the world. dead ball he's pr0.

Rooney will notmake the World Cup. trust me 100% on this... I know something you don't know. He's out for 3months.

Beckham used to be good, but then he got more interested in money...

I agree that there is no way Rooney will make the World Cup especially the fact that he has broken at least two metatarsal's is national news

Sorry, but I'm not the biggest football fan ever. However, Rooney represents to me everything that is wrong with football. Overpaid, over-exposed chav scum. Still, he can play and when he does concentrate on the game rather than his expoding ego, he is a real asset.

And sorry, but what has Martyn said to get such a response Sn00pY? Bit harsh!

Wayne Rooney is not a chav. A chav usually wears hooded tops, hangs around street corners smoking weed, drinking strong cider or beer and being anti-social.

So you should remove that insult.

As for being overpaid, well he brings in a lot of revenue, via bumbs on seats, shirt sales and performances.

If the wages structure was the same as lets say Tom Cruise, then Wayne Rooney would get ?10,000,000 a game.

Wayne Rooney does not have an ego, he's a quiet boy that luvs football, he was born to be such.

One Man does not make a team, he is a loss, however we still can win games without him.

B.T.W. If Wayne didn't play professional football he would have gone on to box like his dad.

if i was in svens position now, this would be my 23 that would go to Germany.

GK's: P Robinson / D James /P Green

Defenders: G Neville / R Ferdinand / J Terry / A Cole / J Carragher / W Bridge / S Campbell

Midfielders: D Beckham / S Gerrard / J Cole / F Lampard / SW Phillips / M Carrick / S Downing

Strickers: M Owen / D Bent / P Crouch / R Rooney / J Beattie /J Defoe

Well James Beatie I would not pick.

I think that is pretty much the 23 man squad which will go to Germany. I dont think James Beattie would travel as we dont need six strikers (even though you have included Rooney as the injured party). For me I would get rid of Beattie and take Ledley King who can play in defense and the holding role.

Other than that I agree (Y)

I'd take Andy Johnson over Beattie, I know he's only first division but look at the amount of goals he scores! If Ericsson hadn't played him on the right wing I think he'd be in.

I'm also getting worried about Campbell, he's been bad for so long, but he's been aweful for every game since he came back from injury - if only Woodgate hadn't got injured. I think Luke Young would be a better choice providing he's fit as I believe he's been injured.

Its very sad to see a player like Rooney missing the World Cup because of injury. It would have been his first World Cup and definately a star to watch. Though England will still be strong without Rooney. England should reach the last 16 and the Quarter finals easily, and by then Rooney should be fit, still i feel that England will do at the world cup.

    • Microsoft launches Godot Sample to streamline Xbox PC game development on the engine by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft today announced a new endeavor that aims to make it simpler for Godot developers to get their products into the Xbox PC ecosystem. Dubbed the "XBOX Godot Sample," this is a new public reference for developers using the open-source engine. This is set to serve as an example of how Microsoft GDK, Xbox Services, and PlayFab can be integrated into their projects. The sample is available now on GitHub as a working example. This covers key features in gaming projects that developers may need to release their projects on Xbox PC, with everything from matchmaking and game sign-in to gamepad compatibility with Godot being covered. This release is being called the first step in giving Godot developers the tools to bring their games over to Xbox PC, with more changes to come based on feedback and issue reports. However, the company was clear that this is not related to bringing Godot projects to Xbox consoles. The engine's open development model stops it from accessing console SDKs due to the requirement of NDAs and legal contracts. Here's how it explained this Godot sample project's focus: This is a source-only sample, not a product. It's MIT-licensed at the wrapper layer; the GDK and PlayFab dependencies still require their own installs and license acceptance, consistent with our other XBOX samples. There is no set update cadence for support or maintenance. We’ll watch the repo, monitor issues, and iterate where it makes sense, but this isn't a commercial release. That said, we’re excited to hear your feedback and see any community PRs, as we evolve this together. This is the first step in bringing Godot for XBOX on PC. We plan to evolve it over time based on what the community tells us is most valuable. This sample is built specifically for XBOX on PC. It doesn’t include support for XBOX Series X|S or XBOX One. If you’re already building for XBOX Series X|S or XBOX One, please talk with your XBOX representative. If not, you can get started by signing up here. Game developers can find the XBOX Godot Sample by heading to GitHub over here. Documentation on how to get started with Godot for building an Xbox PC project can be seen here.
    • I don't understand the vision. Do people really want to buy a new computer from Dell with 6 browsers installed? We all keep asking for Microsoft to stop having so much junk on their OS, and adding a bunch of browsers seems to go against that. Ideally, we would just be asked what browser we want during OOBE but Google is just going to pay Dell a bunch of money to include Chrome. Additionally, would you want your phones to start including all the browsers too when you get them? The only thing I ever wanted was to be able to uninstall IE or edge and I believe you are now able to. I do agree that microsoft needs to chill with their "are you sure you don't want to try edge before you install chrome" ads when going to download chrome.
    • It is notable that around 70% of web browser users choose Google Chrome. However, it is puzzling why anyone on Windows would opt for Chrome when Microsoft Edge is often superior in many aspects and comes pre-installed. Edge collects less data, uses less RAM, and is more optimized for Windows as a native Microsoft product. While some may point to bloat in Edge, much of it can be removed with simple tools, requiring no more effort than installing Chrome. Meanwhile, Chrome reportedly downloads large amounts of AI data (4 GB) without explicit consent. I'm sure you Chrome users love that, or? Although Microsoft’s aggressive promotion of Edge may be questionable, the browser’s current advantages make it a preferable choice over Chrome today, even if Chrome may have been better in the past.
    • JetBrains rolls out IntelliJ IDEA update with Markdown preview fixes and more by David Uzondu Image via JetBrains IntelliJ 2026.1.3 from JetBrains has landed, bringing several highly requested bug fixes that target common UI glitches and terminal rendering issues. If you run tmux inside the integrated terminal, the IDE no longer renders the cursor above the active line. The Markdown preview bug, which was fixed in this release, had annoyed developers for quite some time, as the preview pane failed to render images saved outside the project directory. Instead of displaying the actual image, the IDE simply showed a broken image icon, a problem that stuck around for two years before this update. Over on Windows, developers running WSL can now use wsl.exe to spin up their environments without losing terminal functionality. In previous builds, launching a terminal shell with something like wsl.exe -d ubuntu inside a Windows-based project broke both shell integration and active process detection. Other bug fixes in this release include: An issue where Gradle sync incorrectly reported success as a failure on WSL when using Gradle 9.5.0. A syntax highlighting bug that flagged valid Java for-loop initialization blocks with multiple statements as incorrect. A warning bug that triggered a false non-null local variable alert when using JSpecify annotations. A database generation bug that hid the option to use a DELETE statement instead of a TRUNCATE checkbox. A Kotlin highlighting failure where an assertion error in the Gradle redundant library inspection broke error highlighting. A UI bug where the ComboBox popup lacked a maximum height restriction. A Snowflake syntax error where DataGrip failed to support the "create temp" command. A Svelte syntax parsing failure that incorrectly flagged quotes inside inline expressions. A VCS repository manager deadlock that triggered thread pool exhaustion. A memory leak where the LazyTree component kept all previous versions of a tree in memory. IntelliJ 2026.1.3 is the third bug fix release for the IntelliJ 2026.1 series. The first one landed back in April with a fix for the WSL Python interpreter freeze, another fix for guest participants using Emmet abbreviations, and corrected WildFly server deployment errors.
