Being a loyal customer to Virgin, I got a discount on this phone last Christmas, but the price is around ?100 if you look.

The pack included the phone, charger, headphones (for using the radio and stuff), manual, and installation CD. The installation CD comes with some applications helpful for synchronisation etc...but I've never really used it.

First switch-on of the phone initiates a setup process. This is very quick and painless, guides you through basic use of the phone (for those manual-haters), setup of date and time, and even gives you the option to transfer all your SIM card contacts straight away to the phone. Storing them on the phone is much better for sorting contacts, tagging pictures and notes to them, and synchronisation. The setup process takes less than a minute, takes care of the vital parts, and introduces you to your new purchase. You can run it again at any time, should you wish.

If you are used to a rubber keypad (such as the one found on the 5210), this might take some getting used to, as the keypad buttons are plastic and slightly rounded. This takes a bit of getting used to, if you're not used to there not being any space between the buttons, either. The toggle/thumbstick curves inwards, which, in my opinion, is a better design than the straight stick found on older Nokias and Sony Ericssons. The volume buttons on the side are very welcome, as they are situated for quick alteration of the volume, during a call, for instance. The brushed metal look of the phone gives it that high-tech feel, but the rubber cover of the plugs on the bottom of the phone may annoy some.

The phone includes many media functionalities, as well as a file manager, which can support GIF, JPEG, MIDI, AMR (voice recording), MP3, IMY (monophonic ringtone), 3GP, MP4 and probably more, but those I have tested. A dedicated media player is included, but this is not required and is confusing as well. The only difference I could find from File Manager and Media Player is that Media player plays all the songs stored, and includes and equaliser and a shuffle. But it only plays MP3's. Stick to your iPod, I would say. This phone has a 48MB memory.

The phone also has support for 3D Java games, which are fairly impressive, if you ask me, but a pretty big drain on battery. Stick to your PSP, I would say. It also includes a MusicDJ (nothing on the scale of eJay), a voice recorder (can be used during calls, along with anything else accessible through the main menu), Bluetooth, IR, and theme support, included with 4 themes which somebody will find at least one they like with.

Calls are good quality, and support for pictures with contacts is a nice feature. It includes a loudspeaker, which I rarely use, except for the odd MP3, but is alright. The call speaker is almost on top of the phone, though, so will take some getting used to moving it lower.

Anyone ever used a Sony Ericsson will feel at home here, as it's pretty much everyday ususal UI and layout.

My verdict? If you're on a tight budget, or want to buy a phone for a relative who will find this "cutting edge", then go ahead. But if you can afford it, there are much better models out there.

Considering that the phone has been out for almost 2 years and that there has already been countless reviews on it, I think it beats the purpose of posting here. When I got a Sony Eriksson K700i, I contemplated on posting a review but decided against it as it was already too old. That said, a good review but for an even better one, head over to Mobile Review.

First review

No worries, just wanted to point it out :D . When I wanted to get this phone, that was where I went though there are a lot of reviews in that site. I know there were much more powerful phones with better features but all I wanted was a nice phone that could play some MP3's and take pictures. And it was also the first phone I owned as my previous phones were all hand me downs  .

It's a great phone for it's price. Only drawback is the lack of a memory card slot..

Yes, that's one drawback. The Mobile-Review website even pointed out a slot where they could have implemented a memory card slot in future revisions but then the K750i was released  . I wonder if we can do some modifications to it so that it may accept a memory card? Hmm...

    • yeah it seems to be Edge only. The dialog buttons work as expected in Chrome and Firefox. The phone is using Android 16 (OneUI 8.5) and Edge version  149.0.4022.53
    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
