Why are you still bringing the US into this? We are way past the first round here and it doesn't matter. Besides, I am sure you weren't saying that when the U.S. made it to the Quarters in 2002

I think everyone has to acknowledge that the US was in the group of death and they had no chance to make it. It is quite remarkable they still had a chance heading into the last game. If they were in any other group, chances are they would probably make it through.

Italy, Ghana, and Czech Republic...now that's three finals right there.

Do you think the US could have passed to the next round being in Group A (with Germany and Ecuador), or in Group B (England and Sweden), or in Group C (Argentina and Netherlands), or in Group D (Portugal and Mexico), or in Group F (Australia and Brasil), or in Group G (France and Switzerland) or even in Group H (Spain and Ukraine)?

Apart of Italy, US was in the easiest position to advance to the second round.

Good game (Y)

Germany played well, but that was highlighted by the fact that Sweden player pathetically bad. The Argentina game tonight should be good, I would say that if Argentina beat Mexico they would alsol be the favourite's to beat Germany in the quarter final.

Totally sovereign- Germany!! :)

I hope we see Argentina in the quater final!

Last year we played 2:2 against Argentina- but this year we are much better as last year!! :p

Who wants the worldcup must beat them all!

Berlin-Berlin-wir fahren nach Berlin!! :woot:

And hey!

Sweden was not bad We dont let them play!

btw: it is very very hot in germany! :pinch:

It's on ABCHD here in CA

And ABC/ESPN are both the same family, if a game is not on in HD it's because of your local affiliate (ABC/ESPN said all televised World Cup games would be on in HD...the ones that they broadcast anyway).

Back to the match, Sweden looks like crapola. Someone forgot to tell them they have a match going on.

Er, where in CA are you? I'm in Lodi and it was only shown on the SD ABC channel.

It looks like however that the argentina/mexico game is being shown on espnhd. Thank god! :D

Sorry But I have a point. People are crying here why USA fails and I just answered: "When USA won?" 2002 was a bit amount easy games and the 4? at FIFA rankings only shows why north american soccer is unstable and bad-developed allowing USA this bizarre pontuation (Gana is 28?).

I am not here to defend the US, but in 2002, the US did not play easy games. They played Portugal, Poland, and South Korea and advanced from that group (my heart was torn in the US - Portugal gam:p:p) and they played Mexico to end us losing to Germany 1-0. Do you call that easy:blink:k:

The reason why the US didn't do well this year is because of their coach. In all three games he utilized a 4-5-1 which is why they only scored 1 goal by themselves. If you take that team, add a good coach from Europe or South America, I caguaranteeb> the results would be different. This team is by far more talented than the one that played in 2002 yet they did way worse. Its no surprise the coach did a horrendous job.

Today we saw yet another ref destroy a potentially good game heading into the second half. Why did the ref give Lucic another yellow card on such a petty foul? On top of that, he goes up to Lucic and laughs in his face. The refs this year disgust m:no:o:

Next is Argentina. I am curious to see how Mexico plays this game against Argentina. In my opinion, this game could go both ways because of their style of play.

Mexico is playing exceptionally well. Like I said before, this game will go either way because of their similar playing style.

Lets see if the game will continue at this rhythm in the second half.

P.S. Does anyone think Heinze should've gotten the red card on that foul when he lost vision of the ball?

P.S. Does anyone think Heinze should've gotten the red card on that foul when he lost vision of the ball?

Nope...on the replay you can clearly see that he barely touches the mexican player... the referee was right.

Damn, this is a tough match.

Sry mate, but i dont think Mexico can win.

I was expecting them to do great, im disappointed with their football in this world cup.

I agree they are far from sleeping giants. France has an average team.

Switzerland is just a hype, they got some group that was in their range and took the oportunity.

Ive seen this SO many times, recentely you can see Turkey that amazingly got 3rd place in 2002 and Greece that won the last Euro (with all respect but this one makes me laugh)....and these teams simply disappeared just as they appeared. C'mon the European Champion is not even qualified for the world cup ?

I dont understand that neither. Ahn is a great player, maybe he is half injured, thats why he wont play the full game.

And im amazed how could they lose against the swiss.

Same. I mean, its the style that the dutch coach plays. He is either focued on having a draw or losing. Winning wasnt on his mind.

Korea was better with hiddink.

Also. there was talks that the color of the uniform had some effect because korean team wears the color red as their trademark.

I read into the ref who was during that match, found out that he has relatives in switzerland and the guy who was in charge of that match also is from switzerland.

Something to think about.

IMO, korea didnt play well this year.

Wish there was diversity heading into the semi finals, just wanted 1 asian country to move forward.

    • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
