Gio Takahashi
B'ah. It appears that I made a typo in the link. http://www.unitedempire.net/stuff/vtp4.zip IS the correct link. I mixed up the T and P. So, again. http://www.unitedempire.net/stuff/vtp4.zip is the correct link. Khuat
It messed up my computer, i'm running all my programs via task manager since i installed the VTP 4.0. When rebooted for first time, THE UI WONT LOAD ANYMORE(start menu, taskbar, icons, gadgets), i uninstalled and nothing happened, repaired and the problem still there, any idea on how to repait that? Gio Takahashi
When I installed this, you'd have to change it from display. After the reboot, it should show the display settings, to appearance tabs, and you can change it from there. I think it's" "Aero Glass" and "Aero Vista" and there's two versions of each. Did you try that? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/462752-vista-transformation-pack-40/page/3/#findComment-587535622 Share on other sites
Khuat
It didn't show display settings, only a blue screen and the cursor. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/462752-vista-transformation-pack-40/page/3/#findComment-587535676 Share on other sites
Gio Takahashi
Oh...I'm not even sure what could possibly cause this mess... Umm. I need to think this over. For now, see if you can try reinstalling from safe mode. Gio Takahashi
you just need to put in "Explorer.exe" when you run from the task manager. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/462752-vista-transformation-pack-40/page/3/#findComment-587535765 Share on other sites
Khuat
Solved. Fore some strange reason, explorer.exe disappeared from my pc, copied to a cd from my laptop, copied to c:\windows and reinstalled the transformation pack and now it works. Thanks Gio Takahashi for your help. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/462752-vista-transformation-pack-40/page/3/#findComment-587535876 Share on other sites
Gio Takahashi
That's quite odd. From what I've observed. Windows seem to like replacing explorer.exe if there's been an attempt to delete or modify it. Oh well. glad to hear that everything is working. Diablous
on your screenshots u dont have transparency on white areas. for example in an explorer window. can u tell me what to do to get it like on the screenies? i have the same problem i can see through my windows, yes it looks really nice, but unfortunatley it means i can't view pics, of even another window properly. RangerLG
I installed this and like it a lot. I especially like the backgrounds and sounds. As far as transparency goes, I think you can adjust it in the Glass2k program. em3
I only have one question. Does it backup the files it replace so I can restore my system if I want to uninstall? I have a Swedish WindowsXp and I'm worried it won't work anyway. troGGers
i have the same problem i can see through my windows, yes it looks really nice, but unfortunatley it means i can't view pics, of even another window properly. Here are the steps you need to take to adjust the transparency of the windows: 1. Right-click on the Glass2K icon in your system tray and select ?Settings?. Now check to see what your keyboard shortcut is (I changed mine to be Ctrl + Shift). 2. Open the window that you want to adjust the transparency of, like Windows Explorer or Notepad for example. 3. Use the shortcut above in conjunction with a 0-9 number key. 0 means you want no transparency where 9 means you want the most transparency. If I wanted a window with no transparency I would press Ctrl+Shift+0. 4. That?s all! I don?t believe there is a way you can do this for every application at one time so you will have to perform this for each application individually. http://tech.cybernetnews.com/2006/05/20/ho...vista-for-free/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/462752-vista-transformation-pack-40/page/3/#findComment-587536938 Share on other sites
rive
I've been using this since it was LTP, and it's a good program. But before you install, you must realize that danger inherent here: you're modifying your system files, and the chance of something going wrong is quite high. You must be prepared to do some manual work (typically uninstalling and reinstalling works, but at the very worst you could have to do an upgrade install). However, once it works, it works quite well. Be sure to remove your Windows CD before you install it, otherwise a tug-of-war will start, causing problems. It does make backup in system32\ViTP (or something like that). Simply run the installer and click the Uninstall option.
