By browsing the net and trying to grab a copy of Messenger 8 final i found these pages, which will later redirect you directly to the new Windows Live Messenger Final. They are informative to keep an eye on!

IMPORTANT: http://get.live-int.com is the new page for all your live signup stuff! CURRENTLY OFFLINE!

http://messenger.live.com -> redirects to http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

http://get.live.com -> New site for http://join.msn.com

http://g.msn.com/8MEEN_US/EN/INSTALL_MSN_MESSENGER_DL.EXE -> New messenger download link, not yet active.

NEW LINK: http://g.msn.com/8reen_us/EN/INSTALL_MSN_MESSENGER_DL.EXE will later provide final build, now providing the BETA.

The new messenger download link doesn't work yet, but a few days ago it said: Page for Testing Windows Live Messenger G-Links so it will be a link to new messenger.

Javascript didn't reveal much:

- Site will use Flash

- Site has some image slideshow

- Site will be a bit looking like the http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista site

Something else: http://get.live.com can be used with anything after that: try http://get.live.com/microsoftisthemoststupidcompanyever or http://get.live.com/neowinisthebesttechnologysite ... they all work

http://get.live-int.com actually shows you a lot!

In the mail signup you can actually click sign up (and it works but slow) and it offers you an @hotmail-int.com adress, though, when you are waiting for the image validation it suddenly gives you an error... I think the new messenger build is also around there somewhere!!

IT SEEMS LIKE THE PAGES ARE ON TEST SERVERS WHICH ARE QUITE SLOW!!!

the signup link for messenger on the homepage (get.live-int.com) redirects you to another signup page which won't give you a domain to choose from...

I doubt the build/binary will be hosted on the live-int.com domain, tbh. The site is used as a testing ground for [internal] peeps to get a feel for the design, layout, textual content, etc. They're really not too concerned with making sure the binaries are there :p

@hotmail.com, @msn.com used to be part of the Microsoft .NET Passport Network, later renamed the "Microsoft Passport Network", and now, instead of all of those accounts being Microsoft Passports, they're Windows Live IDs.

So when you say you used an "msn ID", you're wrong - all you used was a Windows Live ID with a @msn.com domain.
