ok

I'm all with the ones who says capital punishement for this sub-human filt of trash. BUT, not on the spot... If there one thing I like about the US capital punishement, is that it is not immediate.

He should have to stay like 20 years in a 8x8 feet cell to think about what he did, and then get immediately executed after his stay in jail. That's giving a lesson. Just killing him doesn't serve a thing, that's what he wants anyway, because he's such a **** residue and a loser that he can't kill himself and save the rest of the earth of his miserable life.

The other thing that I find disgusting, is that he was already a registered sex offender. for me sex offender should stay in asylum for degraded humanoids for life and do slave work for the society to thanks everyone that we still give him food everyday.

people who are focussing on that post of the " you people need to Grow up... how do you know that person didn't know Anna?

Plus people have the right to express their opinons. but as wave did. That post should have been a biut more thought of. People do get killed every day.

I need to make myself perfectly clear to you people because apparently you do not understand what I was trying to get across.

You are being immature and ignorant to this particular instance. Not once did I mention anything about all the other people in the world. She was murdered and yet you act like it's no big deal because it's getting media attention and other people don't? She was STILL murdered: that was my point.

And for all you people who say I'm ignorant and unaware of what this world holds and how terrible people are, etc, etc let me remind you of this: my father is a Forensic Identification Specialist and Blood Pattern Analyist. I have heard my entire life what terrible things people do to one another on this planet. How he goes to work every day to deal with death, distruction, mayhem, and pain that 'we' inflict on one another as human beings.

Do not tell me I am unaware of what this world holds. I never once said anything about the rest of the people in this world, only about this girl.

SHE was murdered and it is a sad and terrible tragedy and you who can not admit that are sick and disgusting individuals. For the rest of the people in this world who are murdered, raped, killed, etc, it is the same thing. I feel terrible for them, their families, and friends. Unfortunately we only see the few who gain media attention by their tragedy. It does not negate the fact that people still died.

Call me immature, call me over sensitive, I could really care less. At least I have a backbone to say what I mean AND have information to back it up with. Instead of just a gutless opinion shared by heartless individuals hiding behind their computer screen.

As or comments about people not gaining certain attention while others do: deal with it as it's a fact of life. My mother went and volunteered in Pakistan after the major earthquake to serve medical attention and respond to aid. Two days after she arrived there was a major earthquake and thousands of people died. Barely hit CNN let alone any local media in North America. Wake up and smell the roses: media is selective about what they portray as a story and it always has been. I never once debated that so you guys need to get your facts straight. A girl still was murdered. Respect that just as you would anyone else in the world dying.

I dont understand the "KILL HIM" mentality, yes obviously murder is a terrible thing but obviously there was something wrong with him in the head and he didnt get the help he needed.

I do feel sorry for her parents and friends but i dont see what putting him to death is going to solve other than more waste of human life.

My condolensces to her family and friends.

amen to that

I've read a few of the comments on this thread, about all the attention this is supposedly getting... My guess is this attention is either due to the media having a field day, or because she had a lot of computer inclined friends who gave it extra web presence...

Otherwise, my condolences to her family and so on, and that's all. Moving on. This is no different than any other murder around the world. No one here really cares, because none of us (as far as I know) knew her. We all got our own issues to deal with instead, and while we will all sob and awe and post how tragic it is while reading this thread, no one will remember this girl when they wake up tomorrow morning.

That is the way of the world and no one can be blamed for it because it's not wrong. There are 6.5 billion people out there, someone dies every second. If I was gunned down, I wouldn't expect anyone to really mourn beyond those who knew and cared for me either.

1. Sex offender's level 3 and up should be killed.

2. The only thing I really disagree with here is exaclty your point. I say kill him on the spot, if that's what the guy wants fine, but don't let us stop his self distruction. Besides this guy has caused enough money in taxes already. Delaying his death for torture is generally where I stop, hence why I don't subscribe to eye for eye, *ussually*.

Hmm... I respect the death of a young innocent girl and I realise this is a terrible blow to her friends and family and a tragic incident which has unfolded....... BUT.

Why does she get this kind of outcry from people? Simply because she used MySpace... Does no-one find this a bit freaky in some respects?

Perhaps I am just being stupid... or maybe shallow I don't know exactly... Just seems odd that a girl who was killed, albeit tragically.

Again I do not intend to offend anyone nor make this seem like it's NOT a big deal. This guy should have his head removed.

It's bad but sorry but

"This news is absoloutly MASSIVE in online communities such as MySpace" Myspace always on things like death.... sad my space SHOULD BE DESTROYED

What the hell so shes emo :x :x on my space :x :x and it gets attention, pretty sad in my view i mean what if she was a normal person with windows live? would it be over the net as fast?

Sorry, why is this such a big thing?

Loads of people die everyday from murder and horrfic crimes so why is this being blown out of all proportion?

The WTC I could understand but this? Local news I could understand but why is this so big?

I smell My Space whoring them selfs.

OMG A GIRL ON MYSPACE GOT MURDERED - LETS TELL EVERYONE WE'RE EVEN MORE FAMOUS NOW

And Neowin beckons to their crys and wacks them on the front page!

Awww... I feel so bad.... Why do they let people like this in the streets?

Our court system at works, cops lock them in, court let them out (or reverse):pinch:

just sad, 2 months before graduation, 6 days before birthday, and suffer like that.

hmm, I feel the same way. Boohoo a 17 year old died. Who really cares? Look at all the people that die every day. And im not a gutless person hiding behind a pc screen either (as I have a ppc based mac ;)) But ill tell you the same thing to your face also.

Okay, I know what the guy did to that guy did to that poor girl was totally inexusable and inhumain. But unfortunately, in this case, I believe capital punishment is the worse idea ever.

Comeon. That guy needs to suffer. Death is an easy way out. Just make him suffer like he never did in life.

For the rest of his life.

You guys are rediculous. If it was a friend of family member of your's you would be acting differently.

I'm out of this thread: way too much immaturity and no regard for human life at all. Pathetic some of you are an absolute embarassment to society.

I think what people are getting at, Wave (if you should happen to see this), is that we'd like to know why we should care MORE for this girl, than for the next person that gets murdered. It's very sad, and my condolences go to her family, just as much as they go to the family of a very good friend of mine WHO DIED OF CANCER AT 18 YEARS OLD LAST OCTOBER. And my condolences go out just as much to anyone else here who's experienced a loss. But why oh why does the media think we should care ANY MORE for this loss than the next one.

I'm not a heartless, immature b***ard; I've experienced losses of my own before. I know what it's like. I just don't know how the media picks the cut for who we should care for more.

ok first off SHE WASN'T KILLED BECAUSE SHE HAD A MY SPACE. MY SPACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER DEATH. if you go and judge her by her my space pics and/or info. thats mostly normal for teen girls ( not all by but most )that have a my space. I wish people will stop blaming my space on this case. sure my space is to blame for most of the child Preadtors and sex offender cases.i know that. i watch the news every day. but just becuase the guy that killed her was a regestered Sex offender doesnt mean he was on my space looking up 16 - 17 year old girls and finding one and then walking in to kill her. If you took time to read the article thats on the 1st page with the 2 pictures, then you'll know why.

now I'm about 30 miles away from Vancover Washingtion,so i got a bit more info on this case when it was fresh back in april. Even did an assigment on this in Psychology class about a month ago.

Anna was just minding her own busnius, doing her job. she was wiping tables down when he came in with a knive and stabed her. They didn't know eachother. she died at 9:00 that night.

i'm starting to agree with wave. you people need to stop geting off topic and focus on the offical thread. I know people die every single second. but it also seems like some of you ( not all but some ) are focusing a bit to munch on the fact that she:

  • The fact that she was 17 and had a my space

people just stop. its geting real old.

now this question is for the topic starter. Why did it take you about three months to post this. I remember watching KATU 2 news ( a local abc station in oregon ) and watching that story.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Amazon may use OpenAI and Nova models after Anthropic reportedly raises costs by Karthik Mudaliar Amazon is reportedly considering to use OpenAI models and even its own Nova family of AI models after Anthropic raised the cost of using Claude inside Amazon services. According to a report from The Information, Amazon is weighing its options to reduce costs under a new arrangement with Anthropic. But back in April, Amazon said it would invest $5 billion more in Anthropic, with the possibility of adding up to another $20 billion if certain commercial milestones are met. That investment actually came on top of another $8 billion Amazon had already put into the Claude maker. Anthropic, meanwhile, committed to spend more than $100 billion over 10 years on AWS technologies, including Amazon’s Trainium chips. Amazon isn't just a customer of Anthropic but also one of the most important backers and cloud partners. This is why it makes it interesting that Amazon is considering other alternatives to handle its internal workloads. Although Amazon has been building its own options for a while now. Its Nova family of AI models was announced in late 2024 for Amazon Bedrock, with models aimed at text, image, and video tasks. Amazon pitched the model around cost and latency at that time. With that said, OpenAI has also become a more realistic option recently for AWS customers as well as for Amazon itself. Earlier this year, OpenAI brought its latest models and Codex coding agent to Amazon Bedrock, after changes to its previously more restrictive Microsoft cloud arrangement. This allowed AWS to serve even those customers who wanted other alternatives from Claude, without having to move workloads out of Amazon's cloud. Evaluating alternatives could also be due to commercial pressure and not necessarily a sign of a damaged partnership between Amazon and Anthropic. Whether or not Amazon is actually considering switching entirely to OpenAI's models or its own Nova models remains unknown at this moment.
    • Samsung introduces new AI classroom tools and interactive displays at ISTELive 2026 by Fiza Ali Samsung has announced several new education-focused software features and interactive displays for schools during ISTELive 2026, taking place in Orlando, Florida, from 28 June to 1 July. The focus of these updates is on making shared classroom displays easier to use for teachers while giving IT administrators more control over managing devices. One of the key additions is the Samsung Account Management Solution (AMS). In many schools, multiple teachers share the same interactive display throughout the day, which means signing in and setting everything up can become repetitive. With AMS, teachers can log in by scanning a QR code or tapping an NFC-enabled ID card. Once signed in, their personalised workspace, including wallpapers, bookmarks, app shortcuts, and files, can be instantly accessed through Home Personalisation. Samsung has also included a screen lock feature, allowing teachers to lock the display if they need to step away briefly. Furthermore, the company is also updating its Education Portal with new tools designed for school IT administrators. The portal will allow IT administrators to register teachers, enrol devices, and manage user access from a central dashboard. Administrators can also link NFC cards to teacher accounts, making sign-ins quicker across shared displays. Another addition is a Tags feature that lets schools organise displays by building or classroom. Those tags can also be used to send emergency notifications to selected Samsung Interactive Displays through compatible platforms such as InformaCast and Raptor. Moreover, the tech giant's AI Assistant is gaining several new features aimed at supporting everyday classroom tasks such as lesson planning and classroom engagement. One of the features is Circle to Search, which lets teachers circle text or images on the display to quickly find related information, videos, or web results without interrupting the lesson. The content can then be brought into Samsung Whiteboard. Another feature, Live Transcript, converts spoken lessons into real-time captions, which could be useful for students with hearing impairments or those in multilingual classrooms. The AI Assistant also introduces AI Summary and AI Quiz. The summary tool creates summaries of recorded lessons, while AI Quiz generates questions based on lesson content so teachers can quickly check how well students are following along. Teachers signed in through Samsung AMS can also return to their previous AI-generated lesson materials without logging in again. Alongside the software updates, Samsung has expanded its Android-based Interactive Display range with three new models: the WAF-S, WAFX-PS, and WAHX-M. The WAF-S and WAFX-PS ship with Android 16, bringing updates to security, accessibility, and overall usability while maintaining compatibility with Google's education services including Google Classroom and Google Drive through EDLA certification. Meanwhile, the new WAHX-M is the biggest addition to the lineup, introducing a 98-inch display for larger spaces such as lecture halls and conference rooms. It will also be available in 65-inch, 75-inch and 86-inch sizes. Samsung says the WAHX-M further includes on-device AI features such as voice commands, text-to-speech, and an AI calculator, alongside support for Samsung AMS and AI Assistant. Samsung AI Assistant has been available since April, while Samsung AMS and the updated Education Portal will begin rolling out in July.
    • It's been $24 (single) or $89 (4-pack) for many days on both Amazon and Walmart as far as I know. That isn't a big discount. If these end up like the 1st gen, the 4-pack will routinely get down around $80, give or take a dollar. I think they have even hit $69 at times.
    • Microsoft brings Claude to its own Azure infrastructure, powered by Nvidia GB300 Blackwell by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic's Claude models are now generally available in Microsoft Foundry on Azure and are running on Nvidia's GB300 Blackwell Ultra systems. Nvidia wrote in its announcement that the models are hosted on Microsoft Azure and accelerated by GB300 Blackwell Ultra GPUs, with Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking used to support larger agentic systems and specialized sub-agents that can operate across business domains. This is great for customers and enterprises that want to build autonomous and domain-specific AI agents using Claude without moving outside Microsoft’s cloud platform. Microsoft currently offers Claude models in Foundry in two forms: “Hosted on Azure,” which runs end-to-end on Azure infrastructure and is generally available, and “Hosted on Anthropic infrastructure,” which remains in preview. This separation is quite important for organizations that have procurement, compliance, data processing, or internal governance requirements tied to Azure. Anthropic currently has 11 Claude models listed in Microsoft Foundry, including Opus 4.8, Sonnet 4.6, and even the unavailable Mythos and Fable models. Billing is handled through Claude Consumption Units (CCUs). Microsoft says CCU is an invoicing unit for Claude models in Foundry, with token usage converted using Anthropic’s published per-model token rates. The usage is billed through Azure Marketplace just like models from other distributors and appears on the customer's Azure invoice, while eligible spend can count against a Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment. For starters, GB300 NVL72 is a rack-scale, fully liquid-cooled system that combines 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 Grace CPUs. Nvidia has listed 37TB of fast memory, 130TB/s of NVLink bandwidth, and FP4 Tensor Core performance of up to 1,440 petaflops with sparsity. The deal is also part of a three-way partnership between Microsoft, Nvidia, and Anthropic. Under the deal, Anthropic has committed to buying $30 billion in Azure compute capacity and contracting additional capacity up to one gigawatt. Nvidia and Microsoft also said they would invest up to $10 billion and $5 billion in Anthropic, respectively.
    • WhatsApp is getting usernames, and you can reserve your preferred one now by Fiza Ali Sharing your phone number isn't always something you want to do, especially with people you've just met. Whether it's someone from a class, a local community group, or a sports team chat, handing over your number can feel like giving away more personal information than necessary. That's exactly the problem WhatsApp is trying to solve with its upcoming usernames feature. The company has announced that users can now reserve a unique WhatsApp username ahead of the feature's wider rollout later this year. Once usernames become available, they'll let people connect without revealing their phone numbers. It's a change that makes a lot of sense for group chats. Right now, everyone in the group can see your phone number. With usernames enabled, that won't necessarily be the case when someone contacts you for the first time. WhatsApp says it's opening username reservations early because more than three billion people use the app, meaning plenty of people are likely to want the same usernames. Reserving one now gives users a better chance of securing the name they actually want before the feature launches more broadly. If your preferred username is already taken, WhatsApp will also offer a built-in username generator to suggest available alternatives. The feature isn't only aimed at individual users. Creators, businesses, and organisations will be able to claim the same username they already use on Instagram or Facebook, making it easier to keep a consistent identity across Meta's apps. Furthermore, privacy is a big part of how WhatsApp is introducing usernames. There won't be a public directory where people can browse or search for usernames. Instead, people will need to know your exact username before they can start a conversation with you. Additionally, users can also choose to enable a username key, which adds another layer of control by requiring people to enter that key before sending a message. Once the feature rolls out, people who choose to use a username will no longer have their phone number shown when messaging a person or business for the first time. If you want to reserve a username, make sure you're running the latest version of WhatsApp, then head to Settings > Account > Username. The tech giant says usernames will roll out gradually over the coming months, and users will receive an in-app notification when the feature becomes available in their country.
