Forceware 91.31 WHQL released

what is MCE?

there are two folders for the 91.31 drivers

MCE dated june 22nd 40.34 MB

ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/mce/91.31/91.31_winxp2kmce_english_whql.exe

and just 91.31 dated june 5th 32.15 MB

ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/91.31/91.31_forceware_winxp2k_english.exe

I downloaded and installed the larger mce version because that's what was given through the website.

first I get a nag that I don't have SLI and I should go learn more about it.

I never had SLI ever, so how could I remove one?

so I unchecked "don't show the tray Icon" anymore to see if the nag would go away, and rebooted.

now back at the desktop the tray icon loads and the nag appears twice, so I rebooted again, BUT the computer won't boot now. all it does is just sit and spin at the boot screen. I pressed the reset button, and now I get the your computer is screwed and you can boot into safe mode, or try normal windows again.

I tried normal windows again, but got the same thing. all it would do is just sit at the boot screen but no hard drive activity.

I pressed the reset again, and tried the load the last know good config link, but still got the sit and spin bootscreen.

I was worried, and tried safe mode, and uninstalled the graphics drivers, but still couldn't boot. again just sit and spin.

booted to safe mode again, and this time installed 91.28 drivers which I keep the install files in the windows dir.

FINALY I'm back to the desktop. the tray icon is there but the nag is gone thank god.

91.31 are the worst drivers I have ever seen.

what do they expect that everyone is going to run out and buy another graphics card so they won't be nagged that they arn't running two cards anymore?

THIS IS BS. I paid alot of money for my one 7800 GT, and can't afford to just go out and buy another one just so I won't be nagged like that

and what was the deal with not letting me get to the desktop? Is that part of the you don't have SLI, so go buy another card and your computer will boot fine?

The last working NVIDIA Graphics Driver

91.28

how do you spell you don't have SLI nag relief? ATI?

.......

MCE = MediaCentre Edition

the drivers say 'xp2kmce' which means they are compatable with MCE, XP and 2000.

If you are that bothered about getting a SLi msg each time you turn your computer on, use older drivers....its not nagging you to go out and buy another one, it is just letting you know SLi has been disabled, its a bug jeez.

Someone mentioned a way to stop it from poping up, did you try it?

I'm currently on 91.31beta's from nvzone, think i will stick with these seeing as the only difference is that these are whql'd.

Wait a few releases. They'll get it right. At least they're not hogs like ATI's new panel. Also unlike ATI it's a bloody good thing that they let you use the much-preferred old panel. T'was the reason I upgraded my X800 to a 7900 GT TOP Edition. Stupid ATI drivers... *grumble grumble*

Hi GenesisOmega

Thank you for the reg key, but after not being able to boot untill I installed the older 91.28 driver overwriteing the newer 91.31. I have no plans on installing any new nvidia drivers soon. The nag popup was bad enough to roll back, but the boot problem scared me :|

for those who arn't having boot problems use the reg key so you don't feel the hate.

and lets all hope this isn't a new trend

wga notify nag: you're a pirate

nvidia notify nag: you don't have SLI

Yeah, I uploaded the reg file here

Thanks (Y)

These drivers are running good for me, except the popup about SLI which I will use the reg key provided above to remove it. Nonetheless, the new control panel is not of my liking so I changed it back to classic.

Wow, this is the worst release ever of nv's drivers IMO

The new control panel is horrible, i cant find anything and the layout is ugly and very annoying.

The stupid SLI pop-up is annoying and pointless, and for some reason , whene i hook up my TV

so i can watch a movie from my pc , it stretches the picture to fit the TV screen, something that

the former drivers didnt do, and i can't seem to find an option to change that (i want it to display

the original aspcet ratio)

So wait, this SLI popup box is only for those who aren't running SLI? Or is it happening for people who are? I have SLI and I'm wondering if it will affect me.

Its happening for non-SLI members because they don't have SLI running so I assume it won't show up for you since you are in SLI mode.

    • Google are hyprocrites for signing this. They have been pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft, only they do it on Android and ChromeOS.
    • In some countries the law has forced Microsoft to display a menu on a fresh install of Windows which asks which web browser you want and it will install that browser. This doesn't add any bloat to Windows. It simply an additional step when setting up a new PC.
    • Chrome is also a first party browser on Android and ChromeOS. And on those systems, Google is pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft does on Windows.
    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
    • The "Classic" Outlook has done that for a few years as well. The option to even change that is really hidden away too... It really shouldn't be hard to respect user defaults. Sadly we are the product now, not Outlook. To change in the Classic Outlook: File > Options > Advanced > change "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in"
