Got a reply from NVIDIA about that constant SLI nag popup. :D

Hello,

The annoying problem you cite is already noted, and will be fixed at a undisclosed date in the future.

Best regards,

NVIDIA

Shame they usually take three months between official releases.

Has anyone (x64 especially, but 32bit ok) noticed a particularly bad drop in WoW? I've just started playing again, and my frame rate is HORRIBLE, much worse than it used to be. Supposedly the newest patch has some issues, but I've heard that it's for mostl ATi cards, so I'm wondering if it might be these drivers.

Also, new control panel looks nice, but for me, it's almost completely empty. Even on the advanced mode, I can't find any options for overclocking, nor half of the options mentioned on the internet. Anyone else see this?

they are not putting down anything down your throat

if you are new to computers, let me educate you, its called a "bug"

I'm pretty sure I know what a bug is, since I make a living from programming. But this was clearly on purpose to try to catch more SLI customers...ANY testing process would notice this before the release. That, or they only have a SLI machine to test their drivers on.

Personally I reverted back to the last 8x.xx version. I turned off the SLI popup via the registry entry but the nvidia icon kept coming back after I told it not to like 5x. :(

so just hide it using the available tools in windows.

Why does nView always show up on my tray? I specifically unchecked it under control panel options and it still pops up every time I restart.

Anyone know how to prevent it from loading?

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
