Well, yeah. I can't imagine what will be affected and for how far or close back, but yeah, several very or kinda old things are not gonna be supported at least directly by MS's legacy drivers anymore. But i guess you'll be able to download legacy drivers from the manufacturer, and even try with Windows 10 drivers if there aren't any for 11.
Notice however that for now they're only removing drivers that have modern replacements, so for now I'd think nothing will be cut off of support. But we'll see how far they take it in later phases.
I'm really intrigued on how big or even small of a fire this will be.
Pretty sure the previous round of layoffs was targeted at that middle management level. I always thought these big mega corps have too many VPs and Pres of such and such.
Now I may not quite understand this, so someone tell me if I'm off the mark here, but does this mean they'll be potentially removing drivers for now unsupported systems, such as old processors and chipsets?
In the past 15 years, Windows has been amazing at just installing on any device, and often having zero, or just a few unessential drivers missing on first install. It would be a shame for that experience to go, though I understand the reasoning, or at least their financial reasoning for it!
