I was pretty impressed. I mean this is a first glimpse and remember our first glimpse at Tiger. Not much more was shown there but yet we all love it. I thought the jabs at MS got a bit old, I mean its fun after a while but eh its bad karma.

Spaces looks awesome, I really look forward to using that as well as the Dashboard web thing. But the one that I really see as being awesome is the desktop collaboration that is built into iChat. Now that looks cool, I can really see myself using that.

I really think that those top secret things are probably a revamped UI and new finder. Its typical Apple style to give us a taste but not the whole picture until the end. MacWorld will probably offer much more info as well as developers that tear apart the beta given out.

All in all, I was pleased, they gave us everything that I expected and Leopard looks like it is shaping up to be a really cool release. I do agree though, it is much better to watch the keynote and see the features in action rather than just read about them.

Thats what I was thinking too, I remeber seeing this picture.

Spring of '07 is still "early '07", which is what is shown on that picture. Perhaps they have decided to add some nice "Top Secret" things and those have pushed back the original projected release date.

Do have to agree with you. I mean, yeah its a bit of a chuckle but as you say - karma can be a bit of a bitch sometimes. Apple are doing well at the moment for sure - but its quite easy to put your foot wrong, and the giant Microsoft gorilla is never far behind waiting for them...

I watched a few of the videos on the Apple site about Leopard - did make me feel better seeing some of the vids in action as they didn't sound amazing through MacRumours IRC updates.. not so keen on the swirling timewarp of TimeMachine though - looks a BIT tacky. If i'm panicing that I might have just lost some important work, cute visual effects are the last thing on my mind!

Still think Leopard will be a good release though. Just hope I have a Mac at home before then so I can rush out and get it when it ships :)

Well there was the Mac Pro, which besides the graphics offerings on the base level, I am insanely impressed by. And the graphics really don't even make me mad because, the people buying this are going to be using it for Aperture, Photoshop, Final Cut, Maya, etc and a 7300GT will do all of that just fine. It just will not power games very well.

"They gave people a Preview build, so that would be considered the first public beta of Mac OS X Leopard."

Its only for developers so that isn't a public beta..i'm still waiting to d/l it through my ADC account

I know this is probably obvious thinking but that Web Clip feature would really come in handy when you wanna do a widget for Neowin's "Recent Forum Posts" section in the front page.

That's gonna be the first widget I'll do when I get Leopard.

Just finished watching the keynote and all I can say is I'm beyond impressed. There's no way in my next computer won't be a Mac, Leopard looks fantastic! The Web Clip feature would be very handy and its a great feature.

I have a question about "Time Machine" though; let's say you delete some private files for a reason, but then that means anyone can go on your Mac and go back in time and view the private files you deleted. How would that work? Would you be able to turn off Time Machine from working in specific folders? :)

Hey, keep in mind. Apple wasn't even going to have all their computers on Intel processors by the end of next year. I'm sure Leopard will be released sooner.

I am very excited about Leopard now. Once watching the keynote you get to see all the new features, plus the "Top Secret" ones. My favorite, in which I thought was stupid when I first heard the description, is being able to make widgets out of web pages. I am also excited about the iChat updates.

Time Machine looks amazing! I have lost much of my work from accidental perm. deletion, and this will making backing up files much easier/safer.

I am also looking forward to the upgraded gadgets Apple has yet to release this year and the coming year. (2007)

I am pretty much satisfied with Apple so far... Microsoft the other hand. :p (Haha, don't reply to that)

I know what you mean. I can now recover lost porn!

.... Yeah, I said it. PORN!

Guys, if you're having trouble with the streaming video, try this.

Go to System preferences --> Quicktime --> Advanced. Select the Transport Setup drop down menu, select Custom... Now, if your Transport Protocol is set to UDP, change that to HTTP and Port ID 80.

Now restart the video http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/aug_...vent/index.html

And it should run smooth, it did for me.

I'm not sure if this ''advanced'' tab exist in non-pro versions of quicktime. But it should, good luck

No. Not if the other user doesn't have the privileges to do so.

You are in windows mode there ;)
