Chad
An interesting read. Mac OS suffored only 31 attacks in 2002, which comes out to be .05% of all attacks. Course I can bet none of the mac users are suprised at this. 31 does seem a bit high. :) Linky super
Wickedkitten Veteran Posted November 4, 2002 Veteran Share Posted November 4, 2002 you do realise that just because you are using osx that doesnt mean that you cant be hacked right? It just means you are less susecptible to it happening along with a decreased chance at picking up a virus. However your chances increase if you have os9 installed and thats probably where most of the 31 attacks came from. www.secureyourmac.com
Nominell
Well, imho, the OS 10 security is more strict than any Windows system I've used has had and the built-in firewall in Jag gives it another notch as well.. Anyway, if you want to make it even tighter, check out Brickhouse, it'll lock up your computer for good (yeah, I know, blocking anything tcp will do that as well, but hey)... Tim Dorr Veteran Posted November 4, 2002 Veteran Share Posted November 4, 2002 the thing that worries me though is how much of this non-vulnerabilty is based on the fact that no-one seems to understand the mac completely (e.g. the closed source aspects of it) and the relative lack of interest? security through obscurity seems to be in practice here....
