Rumored Wii Launch Date + Price + Details

Recommended Posts

Heh, there was talk of Nintendo wanting to do a "portable gamecube" as their new gameboy. Personally, I think it'd be great. You could play the new GBE games either on the GBE, the Wii or the Gamecube all out of the box. At the same time, you could play Gamecube games on the GBE.

Lets face it. The Gamecube Interface is roughly the same as the DS's with the exception of two analogue sticks and a Z button, which would could easily be added.

Personally, I'm actually more intrested in the portable gamecube handheld then the Wii price XD

What's GBE?

 Me too. D'you reckon it would offer wireless multiplayer with Gamecube games on the Wii? That would be cool.

We always knew the Wii would be relatively cheap, so US$230 comes as no surprise to me.

The Wii is the first Nintendo in a long while to actually seem worthwhile... combine that with an incredibly low price and the new motion sensitive controller and they could be on to a winner. Unless Sony manages a miracle I would imagine the X360 would take the reign as dominant heavy weight console, as the price advantage Microsoft has is too great. With the Wii and X360 as competition Sony needs some big hitting games, better graphics, as lower price point as possible and a lot of marketing spin.

hoping it is out in japan before anywhere else so i can come here and tell you how great it is when i pick one up on launch day.. haha :p There are a few games im really looking forward to getting my hands on in the launch window release area.. this is going to be worth while purchase thats for sure. and going into winter all those arm movements should keep me warm.. haha.

Can't wait! hope there is plenty of wii + ds linking in future games!

A handheld with GameCube discs would be a pretty stupid idea. The discs are too big for a handheld, there's no casing on them, they're programmed for a higher resolution than a Nintendo portable screen would have, and would have a battery life worse than PSP. With that said, I doubt Nintendo would do it.

As for the $229 price, well, that's an expensive controller. GameCubes sell for $75 with a game over here. If Microsoft bundle a memory card with the Core 360, it may turn some potential buyers. If there is a game or two controllers bundled with the Wii, then the price would make more sense. Then again, the price is still a rumour.

Also, the article is back on IGN, albeit minus the CPU talk.

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
