Hey Everyone

Just wanted to drop in and say a HUGE thankyou to the AutoPatcher Team - you guys are just the BEST!

I downloaded the latest (full) version of AutoPatcher and ran it on my system! A huge file, but totally worth the download!. AutoPatcher Updated and patched everything beautifully and without any problems whatsoever.

Interestingly, I actually ran it a second time just for curiosity reasons - and more updates came up in the AutoPacther List (that I didn't see first time round) that I was able to add/update to my XP system. I assume that certain updates needed to be installed first by AutoPatcher, before secondary ones would list and be available/show-up in AutoPatcher to 'check'(select) and add in. Again, the extra updates installed like a breeze and no problems whatsoever.

After reading this thread, I am puzzled by the issues that some members have been having with the updates. I am a very high end user of PC and internet and use alot of programs. But I am not a nerd and no IT Tech! In saying this........

.....If this helps any other members at all :-

A few things I do on a regular basis that may have helped me with such a trouble free install/update - no conflicts.

------I clean the registry regularly using a registry cleaning tool

------I clean off dead/old files left in the windows system using a file cleaner - (semi regularly)

------I avoid all adware/greyware/spyware/malware/foistware related programs totally. No matter how cool or desperate I may want a program. If it has third party software attached, then I delete the program altogether

------When doing a major update I Start 'Windows Task Manager' and close/shutdown all NON-essential NON-Critical services. The update then screams along really well (i.e. updates and installes at a phenomenal rate)and I never EVER have a problem with conflicts.

I find that with an un-cluttered registry, no old & possibly conflicting windows files in Windows Folders, virtually no third party HOOKS in my processes, and very few programs and processes running when I update - that I always have a trouble free install

I hope this info may help some other members.

Cheers everyone and thanks again to the TEAM

You might have to download the Installer cleanup program from Microsoft. Apparently something on the autocad program install corrupted and/or didnt get cleaned up correctly. This will fix it; but, you will probably have to reinstall the CAD program again.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/

warning.... after install, only select the AutoCad 2007 program for cleanup. Basically this is an advance add/remove function and will totally remove the program and the corrupt installer files.

Yeah, had the same issue with the installer for Autocad Inventor. Somthing went screwy with the .NET install as well the Macromedia player installation (Autocad apparently uses Macromedia to display the 3d renderings and it is VERY touchy about player versions). I had to uninstall Macromedia and repair the .NET installations before the installer worked as it was supposed to. I know this is no definate answer, but I hope it helps.

Running XP SP2, WMP 10 (10.00.00.4036), Windows Media encoder 9 (9.00.00.2980)

I had the same with the three updates, 910998, 917821, 921134. They did not install. AP appears to suppress any error messages.

So I went to the respective KB articles and downloaded the files from there:

windowsmedia10-kb910998-x86-intl.exe

windowsmedia10-kb917821-x86-intl.exe

windowsmedia10-kb921134-x86-intl.exe

All three refused to install.

The first two gave the message

...

Alright, to everyone having trouble with the Windows Media Updates as above ... there is a registry key preventing installation on what I assume is most up to date machines. The key in question is :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center

If you rename the key, run the updates, then rename it back they will install without problems.

Secondly, KB912817: Windows XP COM+ Hotfix Rollup Package 13 (v2) by my testing refuses to install on Dual Core AMD machines (maybe Intel also) even if you disable one core with the boot.ini, use safe mode, disable DEP or set it's affinity. I believe Microsoft will have to bug fix this as it just crashes when run either by AutoPatcher or when downloaded separately.

PS. Should someone deem this information good enough to include in the first post, please do so as I believe it will alleviate at least a few repeated posts :)

Whats the difference beetween AutoPatcher vs using Qhain.exe?

ive never used QChain.exe before but from what i gather from the description i imagine autopatcher is much simpler. with this tool you need to know before hand which updates you want to install, you need to go and download them all individually, you need to use the command line which 99% of people are going to be afraid of, and then you may need to type in all the file names and commands which is a pain.

with autopatcher on the other hand, you get our collection of updates, you download them all in one go, you dont have to use the command line, and you dont need to do any work like typing in file names, you just point and click to choose your selection.

Hi,

I have no idea how to start but I am considering to take the PT-BR version of autopatcher from where our friend gandolas have left. What are the initial steps I should follow? Can anyone explain me the basics of the process?

Thanks =)

check out the translation packs thread, youll find everything you need to continue on from the last release - the latest translation pack, changelogs, and documentation.

Thank you for your fix for installing 910998, 917821, 921134. It worked flawlessly.

How did you work out the fix? just curious..

2) Have the issues that several were reporting been resolved, or were the issues only experienced by a small percentage of those using this update?

Just reformat and you'll have no trouble AFAIK. :D

I never had this problem: maybe it's a new one - I haven't reformatted since June (i. e. April Full).

I have just tried the auto patcher LITE Aug 2006 and I have found that the file "Security Update for .Net Framework 1.1 SP1 (KB886903)" returns an error mesage of "File corrupted". I think that the problem is with the LITE version of Autopatcher.

Perhaps the AutoPatcher setup is corrupted (?) - check the MD5 hash.

Hmm, if I reinstall XP SP2 English version and if I use AutoPatcher August 2006 Full to update my desktop, the following weeks, the following months :

> I can use Windows Update?

> or I have to use only AutoPatcher?

> or I can use both ? One month AutoPatcher Update, the next months : Windows Update ?

Yes, the problem is you downloaded the English release. There is no Brazillian release this month.

    • Nobody is buying a PS5 only for playing Until Dawn 2. Their loss.
    • If you actually used it instead of responding like a petulant child you might be surprised. I switched from Google some time ago and have been very satisfied.
    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.
