Hi all,

Just finished installing a fresh WInXP Pro with SP2 and as many times before; installed autopatcher (the Aug 06 ver, just downloaded) but this time round i'm seeing problems i never saw before.

The machine is:

AND Athlon +1800

1.54 GHz, 512 MB RAM

on a 120 GB Sygate IDE drive.

This is after i've already updated from Windows update.

All hardware and software on this system works fine but the Autopatcher won't update as usual. i've finished checking all the updates i want and hit Update, the app goes (too fast) through to the end in a matter of seconds and finishes, asking for a reboot - none of the updates were implemented of course.

as i wrote above, i used Autopatcher quite a few times in the past and never saw this kind of behavior.

I will mention that prior the Aug 06 install i ran the Sept 05 ver (before i found the current) and got the same results as above.

Did this happen to anyone? please advise.

Thx much in advance,

Sawndz.

I just formatted and reinstalled WinXP sp2 and experienced the exact same problem as quoted here.. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks...

@fet and sawndz, check that the username of the account your running autopatcher in is made up of only letters and numbers. spaces and other characters can cause this problem.

note that changing your username in user accounts just changes your display name, you need to change it properly in control panel (classic view) > administrative tools > computer management > system tools > local users and groups > users > right click on user and select rename > reboot.

@Talkless, probably a false positive, please report it to AVG. you can delete the file if you worried, its not important. the next time you install autopatcher a new uninstaller will be created, and in the mean time all you need to do to uninstall is delete C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher and the desktop and start menu entries.

Thanks alot for the input.

Ok so the username DID contain an "&" so I changed it, but with no luck..

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Autopatcher, but still got the same problem.

However after logging in with the builtin "Administrator"-account it seems to work fine, it?s running now.

It's normal... becouse if you change the account name, Windows XP renames only account name, but it doesn't rename user folder name.

e.g

Before rename: USER: me&you -> C:\Documents and Settings\me&you\Desktop

After rename: USER: meandyou -> C:\Documents and Settings\me&you\Desktop

You?re right of course, thanks..

Hello AutoPatcher team,

First of all thank you again for such a good program. I have been using it for a while now.

For the first time ever I got a message letting me know that AVG has a Downloader.Zlob.DJW. Has anyone received this message before?

Hi from Greece. Why when i am trying to install August 2006 full it displays this message:

"Module Panic on Ενημερωμένη Έκδοση ασφάλειας για Windows XP (KB887742)!

You are running Windows XP Professional SP2 (Locale 1032) +IE6

This release is not suitable for your system.

35602: Key is not unique in collection".

Also, i had already install the April 2006 full autopatcher, that means that the next months i have to download the full versions or lite or update?

[English]

Since you have August's Full, it would be a good idea to remove April's release (or simply put it in a different folder). For September, download the Update and install it over August's release, or download the Full, but don't install it over the previous Full release.

He's right, AVG detect the trojan downloader.zlob.djw on all versions i tried downloading here

Full, update even lite...

So there really a trojan is there?

It's been asked before. Check the MD5 hash. If it matches the one you see in this forum, you're okay. It's a false positive.

We have never included, and will never include any kind of adware/spyware/malware. Offers from companies regarding bundling were and will continue to be ignored.

anyone have ploblems with GTA San andreas. After i installed august 2006 the game is unable to run.

and the new game Bad day LA too. is it MS hotfix issues ? i know it's off-topic but help me please..

Probably an MS Hotfix, or a tweak (nothing comes to mind though). Did you install any tweaks? If not, it's a hotfix.

Hi.

Please take a look:

ununstaexeru9.th.jpg

What can you say about that?

The file Uninstall.exe is part of Nullsoft's Installation System (NSIS), which we use for our releases. If the MD5 hash of the file you downloaded matches the MD5 posted in this forum, then its a false positive.

if the MD sums match the ones in the first post, no.

My MD5 matched the download I got from LittleBuger back in August 14th, 2006, and this is the file I used to do the August installation, but I still got that virus message.

Downloading the same file from LittleBuger right now to compare it.

Did the most recent updates from Microsoft mess up Autopatcher? Because as soon as I restarted my machine this morning Kaspersky thought uninstaller.exe was a virus. I know it's wrong because I checked the MD5, but applying the updates is the only thing that I've changed since last night :p

^^ I'm not in vacations right now, i'm working...

I am going to release a Portuguese (Portugal) version this month. It will be a combo between Full and Lite.

Thanks gandolas.

For moments i though you disappear forever.

Please stay with this fabulous project by Autopatcher. We will be very glad.

Obrigado gandolas.

Por momentos pensei que tinhas desaparecido para sempre.

Por favor continua com este fant?stico projecto que ? o Autopatcher.

Todos n?s ficaremos muito agradecidos.

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
