FEAR Combat today

Recommended Posts

I have taken three screenshots of each of the three new maps and compressed them to 80% quality JPEGs. Together in a ZIP file, they total 1.91 MB. Where should I upload it to to share?

Used Exoload, here: http://www.ex0.biz/uploads/806/1155911705.zip

I cant even install it I try to launch fearcombat_en_107.exe then my comp HANGS for like an hour (or so it feels and nothing happens) dont know the problem

Not sure where you are getting it from, but I had to download it 3 times from Fileplanet before I actually got the full 1.8 GB file. The first file I had was 426MB although it said the download was 100% done, and the second one was 386MB or something and it also said 100% done.

fileplanet has been having troubles as of late not sure whats goingon

Ok I finally got this thing working, and it was worth all the effort, i've played F.E.A.R all the way through so I knew what I was getting into but its far more enjoyable than what I expected. You spawn on and around where ever your team happens to be, which makes for some great choke point battles. If you have 5.1 surround turn up the sound set it on high and get ready to hunt. With 5.1 sound you can hear where your teammates are getting gunned down and go to that location, it totally helps. You can even hear people creeping up on you.

Last night an enemy was following me and I had no idea, he was trying to take me out unarmed for a good laugh, but he stepped on a bottle behind me which I heard from one of my rear speakers, I turned around and blew him away. So much fun.

For those of you who are getting errors on launch, or the game won't start up, we need more information than "it won't start up" :)

List your PC specs, what drivers you are using, etc.

AMD 64 3000+

A8N-E latest BIOS (1013)

2 x 512mb RAM

7800GT 91.28 drivers

Soundblaster live 5.1 with KXaudio drivers

XP with all the latest updates and I installed the August DirextX that came with it

Installed on SATAII HD

I've tried a few things from the sierra forums such as playing with the resolution in the configuration tab, turning off sounds, running it in Win98 compatibility mode. I also tried this which someone suggested but that didn't work either.

At what point does it crash? If it crashes immediately upon opening it, then verify these settings:

Go to the Properties of My Computer>Advanced Tab>Settings Button under Performance>Data Execution Prevention Tab

Make sure that on this tab, either "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" is check, or if the other option is checked (Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select), then ensure that the FEAR executable is chosen.

I have the second option selected, so I had to add FEAR in the list of programs below it order to prevent it from crashing. This might work for you, just something to check atleast.

When i run it all i get is "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed"

What a pile of crap, Securom protection on a free mp game.

Why is it a pile of crap? They are still selling the full retail game, the multiplayer still requires punkbuster and auth servers, and it is their right to protect their game with protection. Or because it's free, that makes it not ok? :|

*Game Uninstalled*

Just not ready for my system.

I feel you, I can hardly play it given my current system state.

Don't need too because I can run the retail version of FEAR just fine. Only reason I resorted downloading this release was because I only use FEAR for the multiplayer part. So this would have been quite nice to have, provided the "free" copy was tested prior to release.

Most of my screenies can be seen here

TBH it's no diff from single player except it's MP :) - I feel the weapons as always are wy too weak, compared to CS:S for HL2 DM for example there is no feeling of "Ouch I BET that hurt" and you can't "feel" the power of the guns in FEAR/Combat at all.

Oh well, it looks good and runs well....enough anyway.

I play with 2xfsaa 2xaf and mostly max details

It supports magnet links, .torrent files, resume data, sequential downloading, per-file priorities, and even imports from qBittorrent. Power users benefit from integrated RSS auto-download with regex filtering, duplicate detection, and automatic tracker lists from Stremio. Streaming is seamless thanks to auto-detected players like VLC and IINA. It now looks like the same product, not a separate dashboard. Pairing is one tap and zero typing: the generated WebUI password is now copyable, and the QR code carries the credentials — scanning it from your phone logs straight in (no typing the IP or password), then drops the credentials from the address bar. Search Two new providers: RuTor (CIS sources, no login, via a public TorAPI relay) and Torrents-CSV. Results are sorted by seeders (healthiest first), and each search now times out after 15 s so one dead provider can't hang the UI. Files & trackers Per-file priority is back: right-click a file in the detail panel to set Skip / Low / Normal / High. Rename an individual file inside a torrent (double-click or the file menu), separate from renaming the torrent. Remove a tracker from a torrent (the ✕ on a tracker row); adding was already there. Smart Paste on Ctrl+V — paste a magnet, a 40-char info-hash, or a .torrent URL straight from the clipboard and it's added immediately (text fields still paste text normally). Covers & titles Anime fansub naming ([Group] Title - NN) now resolves to the right show. Audio channel layouts in titles (DDP5.1, 7.1, …) are stripped so they don't pollute cover matching. Under the hood The legacy QWidget interface is gone. QML had been the only UI since 3.0.0 (reachable old code lived behind a hidden --legacy flag); with parity confirmed, the entire QWidget layer — main window, every dialog, the theme manager — was removed (~13,400 lines). The four restored actions above were features that backend already supported but the QML port had never wired. macOS: the WebUI password hash moved out of the keychain into app settings, so launching the app no longer pops a login-keychain password prompt on unsigned builds. The actual password still lives in the keychain. Cleanup: ~400 orphaned translation strings and a batch of dead code removed; internal duplication collapsed; an ARCHITECTURE.md added for contributors. Unit / security / memory tests and the ASan/UBSan/TSan sanitizers stay green. • How about a global switch to turn the awful things off instead of a registry hack? Then everyone wins.
    • This doesn't strike me as so shocking when... " IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app"
