Lost - Season Three

Oooh THEORY:

Why did Eko get killed this time and not the previous encounter with the monster?

The Others are controlling the Monster.

Sun kills the woman + makes the others the losties enemy. The husband of the murdered woman takes the helm of the Monster or remotely controls and kills a lostie, and Eko did say "you're next", so the husband is going on a revenge rampage.

Pretty far fetched theory but interesting none the less

preview?

Anyway, am I the only one that heard an ALARM go off in the hatch that John was in when the Monster grabbed Eko? Klaxon-like sound.

Thats the noise the monster always makes...like a train...if you mean preview to next episodes then they are on my lost blog.

And now i will over analyze lol...

and when the smoke was moving you could clearly hear some sort of chains, so it must be some kind of mechanic thing, but it's actual look is covered by the black smoke?

More than likely it's something super natural with the dead people appearing before hand and past figures. Well, not necessarily dead people, but something taking the shape of them (The smoke). Something mechanical in nature would have to be highly advanced. Machines (Robots) nowadays barely have the fluidity/flexability/speed of an 80 year old man, let alone the ability to toss a full grown man around with the speed and fluid movement of something of no mass. Also The show seems more on the mystical side then the far sci-fi side. The hatches on the island seem to hold older technology as well (Computers from the 70s,& 80s), Jumping from something that far advanced in machinary seems unreasonable.

However...

If it is something mechanical, maybe nanotech? Nanite machines swarming together? Some sort of experiment? Maybe it uses the islands natural magnetic energy.

I think the noises were simply something for effect via the shows sound production team. Listen to the polar bear that Locke attacked, it clearly has poor sound effects used in any "fierce" animal with four legs.

I remember reading somewhere that the smoke monster was closely tied to something called Cerberus. If you recall the screencap that floated around the internet after the "Lockdown" episode, where Locke is pinned in the Swan hatch and the blacklight map comes down, there is something labeled Cerberus. Cerberus, if I'm remembering correctly, was the dog of Hades (Greek god of the underworld) and the guardian of the entrance to the underworld. I also seem to remember reading or hearing something about how the smoke is supposed to be or is tied to some kind of security system? Cerberus is a code name? Big black scary thing? Guardian of the island?

meh, I should be working right now.....

That's very interesting.

I have a final question, what happened to that "disease/virus" that women the the jungle was ranting about?

Interestingly, the path which it moves Eko is in the shape of a cross, first up, then sideways to one tree, sideways again to another tree, and finally up, before slamming Eko into the ground. Eko dies from the encounter moments later.

source: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/The_%22Monster%22

interesting find imo, so it def. has something to do with him not wearing his cross.. (or him wearing the cross, since locke gave it back to him)

Jack can't really say no to the operation because all Ben has to do is bring Kate and say "If you don't operate, she dies with me" or wtv.

Jack is swimming in ****.

Yes, however he did say he wanted Jack to want to operate. Sounds like They were going to butter him up and try and get him to admire Ben/The others and not hate them, maybe to absorb Jack into The others in the future?

What about the images Eko seen in the smoke?

http://www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6056

Also (maybe I missed it). After the explosion of the hatch, how did Eko get into the cave? Was it the smoke that took him there?

No I would assume the implosion/explosion took him somewhere in the jungle and then the polar bear just took him there to eat him later.

ok what if the vaccine stops the monster from killing them?

ste

Then wouldn't all the losties be killed by it?...I think it just judges you and it saw that Eko was bad person in his past and he could threaten the islands Harem...

I really hate how they have brought in those two new random characters.

Excellent episode, looking forward to the mini-finale.

I don't like them either. I hate how we have no clue who they are, what their stories are, nothing - but there they are figuring prominently in the scenes.

It doesnt make sense to me that the X-Rays of the tumor are fake in any way. Afterall, remember at the funeral when Ben questions Juliet as to why she left them up so Jack could see them? What would the purpose of that conversation be if they were fake? Jack couldnt hear them at that point, so it's not like they were talking so he could overhear and begin to trust that they were real. Ben definitely has that tumor IMHO. No fiendish plots there :)

As for Juliet, she's hot, but i dont trust her at all. I'm not at all sure who to trust in the Other's camp right now.

The black cloud... i dont know how it does it, but i recall the conversation from prior seasons about there being "good" and "bad" people on the island (not referring to Others vs Losties). More than likely, that black cloud knows who they are somehow. I honestly dont think it's being controlled. It simply knows who is "good" and who is "bad". What determines good and bad? Not sure, but i have a feeling that Eko not confessing his sins had a lot to do with the cloud sticking it to him. Although, i'm not sure why the cloud would have spared him the first time, unless there's something i'm missing. Honestly, if it was a defense system as stated, why wouldnt it just wander up on the beach and slaughter everyone? No one can stop it *shrugs* It's definitely being very discriminate about who it kills.

    • A difficult position to be in. Either they cater to us users or they cater to news curators to potentially increase traffic. Personally, I wasn't being sarcastic. Hosting a website isn't free, so without traffic this site stops existing, and if you want traffic you have to play the game. I legitimately thought the title was good. Not because I like it, but because it's the kind of title people will click on. This site needs that.
