Lost - Season Three

Hmm I don't think Eko would ever say "You're next", but it's always possible the 'smoke monster' was inside him.. You never know with Lost! I also thought about the islands healing powers (Rose).. why is it that Ben is not healed? Or is he being healed and this is all yet another test?

Dan

Remember when Roseau caught Ben she said "For a long time he will lie"...well I think he maybe lying about his illness :o

Dan

That's an excellent observation. Why isn't Ben being healed if it healed Rose and Locke, why not Ben?

probabley because ben isnt on the lost island..... the others have thier own island.

If the other island heals, and this one doesn't, would the others know about it. And if they know about it, why isn't Ben on the other island? Something still doesn't add up--I cannot imagine that these people don't know that the other island doesn't heal, they've been there for a long time.

Some notes from Podcast...

Points of interest so far.

- They have not forgotten about Cindy and the other people taken

- Hinted that the smoke monster downloaded Eko's memory in his first encounter

- Hinted that Yemi was in fact a manifestation of the Smoke Monster

Does that include the kids? Were'nt they all taken from the other side of the island? Or is my memory a bit hazy?

They were taken from the Tallies section of the Island...yeah that part of the story was forgotten...weird :pinch:

No--the Others' island IS the losties' island. The secondary island is where they are to do the tests et cetera. Watch the opening scene from this season and you'll see that their village is clearly on the same island.

In the latest official LOST PODCAST, Carlton and Damon gave up mucho-info on both what we saw in 'The Cost of Living', and what to expect in the aftermath of 'I Do'.

- Carlton and Damon say that they had hoped people would assume Nikki and Paulo would die on ?The Cost of Living?. (Nice Try Guys!)

- Adewale was only on board for a year from the beginning.

- Eko?s last words were ?you?re next? to Locke, not "we're next" as Locke said.

- ?I Do? is the best LOST episode ever.

- The fates of Cindy and the children will be addressed, we will see them again in episode eight.

- They hinted heavily that the monster does indeed take human form.

- They indicated that after Episode Six the action will shift away from the second island and back to the beach. They also stressed that they will be changing the game fundamentally.

- The survivors will eventually return to the Black Rock.

The "Your next" and "We're Next" thing might be cleared up now...lol

The only logical explanation is that Ben has no tumor. The island healed both Locke and Rose, and Ben has been on the island his entire life. Unless his cancer has developed to the point where the island can no longer contain it, I'd say that this is a test for Jack, to see if he will 'behave'.

I dont think the island has healing properties. we dont know that roses cancer is really gone, and we certainly dont know anything about lockes legs. (it could be a purely psychological handicap, the way it comes and goes seems to strengthen the idea)

Remember in the first season, Locke got injured in his leg and Boone pointed it out. Locke didn't even feel the wood or whatever it was that went into his leg, so I have a feeling that he's lost feeling in his legs at some point in life, which probably happened at the same time he lost mobility of his legs.

And Rose, she was only suppose to live like 6 months after Bernard proposed to her. I'm guessing it has been more than 6 months since he proposed since they're married. I believe that the island does have healing properties based on these facts, but I could be wrong.

It has only gone once hasn't it? When Locke was trying to get to plane in the first season, that's the only time I remember Locke not being able to walk. Well, that and when the blast door came down on him, but that's a given. No one would be able to walk after a blast door like that came down on you.

mmm weren't they in australia to see this guy that cured people? They never got back to LA because the plane crashed. So unless they stayed for LONG in AU, no 6 months have passed. they crashed in september and it is like november now for them.

Dan

Rose will die and Locke's disability was never a physical one.

how come in the first season when we used to see the others they

were all dressed up in worn out clothes and they were all dirty and

stuff. but now theyre all kinda sophisticated and neat and stuff like that?

They were doing that to fool the people from the plane crash.

I dont think the island has healing properties. we dont know that roses cancer is really gone, and we certainly dont know anything about lockes legs. (it could be a purely psychological handicap, the way it comes and goes seems to strengthen the idea)

When that metal door shut down on Locke's leg in the hatch... Didn't it seem like that wound healed pretty quickly? It was only like 2 or 3 episodes that he couldn't walk.

What was with Locke not being able to talk after the hatch blew up? What was that all about?

I think Ben really does have cancer, and I think only Rose and Locke were cured.

It makes sense. The Island is *picky*

It doesn't kill everyone - therefore it also doesn't heal everyone. Rose and Locke are pure of heart (well, Locke *was* at any rate). Remember how she knew her husband wasn't dead?

There is something more powerful at work here than we know. The Monster kills - something else heals.

Do the monster always go after people who have killed other people?

I mean... eko killed people. Kate did, and she saw the monster turned into a horse. I can't remember if jack did, but maybe he can be blamed for some death(s), since he's a doctor...

And Locke, we dont know, 'cause we didnt get to see if he killed that cop or not... but we can only assume!

Didnt Jack see his dad on the beach even tho he was dead...maybe that could Smokey telling him something :s

I believe it was trying to kill Jack. Remember that his father led him to a cliff that Jack almost fell off of. It would make sense that if the monster is trying to kill people it would find the easiest way and Jack following his father's image over a cliff is pretty easy way to kill him.

    • Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is facing a class action lawsuit from shareholders who allege that the company intentionally overhyped its artificial intelligence initiatives to distract from slowing cloud revenue and an exploding infrastructure bill. The complaint was filed in a Seattle federal court by the Michigan-based City of St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Retirement System. The plaintiffs argue that Microsoft’s leadership painted an overly optimistic picture of its Copilot rollout and complex OpenAI partnership. They say that the company did this while downplaying the harsh reality that building the data centers required to power these next-generation tools requires a huge amount of capital. Back at the company's Q2 2026 earnings report from late January, Microsoft revealed that its flagship Azure cloud growth had slipped to 39% (down from 40% the prior quarter) and guided investors to expect a further deceleration to 37% or 38% for the first three months of 2026. Now, under normal circumstances, a slight percentage point drop in cloud growth is a minor operational hiccup. But the Redmond giant paired that guidance with $37.5 billion in quarterly capital expenditures. This figure, which is a 66% year-over-year surge, blew past any analyst estimates at that time. Much of this amount went into buying high-priced GPUs and custom silicon that were required to train and run large language models. This is why the market reacted violently and just a day after its earnings call on January 29, the company's stock plummeted 10%, and wiped out $357 billion of capital in just a trading session. Microsoft is doing better now, though. Its Q3 2026 results showed its run rate from its AI business was hitting $37 billion, proving that enterprise demand for its infrastructure is very real and continuing to scale. Microsoft isn't the only company pouring billions into infrastructure for the AI boom. We've seen most Big Tech companies, including Amazon and Google, also get the results of these **** with stronger-than-ever growth and increased income. via Reuters

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
