Lost - Season Three

There wasn't much new info or excitement, but I really enjoyed this episode. It takes me back to when I loved all the characters. I think I at least smiled if not laughed throughout the majority of this one.

I'm glad others have grasped the purpose of the episode. For the last few weeks, and indeed most of this season, we've been bombarded by nothing but misery, misfortune and dread. The castaways, and the audience as well, needed a respite, a moment to feel good again. When Hurley turned that key and the van started, I was just as happy as Sawyer and Jin. Just like Hurley's dad said, everyone needs a little hope now and again.

Exactly. I believe that was the main theme of this show, having hope. Without hope, they might as well go do something to get themselves killed. With hope, they can do more and have something to look forward to now, being rescued or finding out the complete truth of the island and staying. Either way, it removes the despair, dread, etc. that everyone was having.

My only complaint is that they had a little more going on with Russo and Locke, Kate and Sayid, but I don't really think they could've done anything worthwhile to be squeezed in this episode, so I'll take it as is :)

Although I found last weeks episode the worst for a long time I wouldn't say I would ditch the show because of it...yeah we all jump on here and say "its crap" or "I am losing faith" yeah it wasn't good but as someone said they are here to take you on a ride and show you the whole story the bigger picture so I wont ever stop watching it, I will just be unhappy if we had 2 or 3 episodes like Jacks episode in a row where they dont answer as much promised but then again that wasn't the writers fault it was the promo makers fault.

I just finish this ep. They are walking in circles for a chance. Like always.

"You want the numbers again, there you go!". I think they (the producers) believe the viewers will have all the faith they expect to have. Aka, the ppl will watch this show forever.

At least this ep we dont see the Jack stupid smile all the time.

The character-centric episode was pretty good. Somebody complained that there aren't enough likeable characters in Lost anymore. This one about Hurley really brought that back.

It sets the scene for a good episode next week, but I can't help feeling that, if after a week, this is the best they can come up with, they are going to continue to lose viewers. They should increase the frequency of episodes, IMO.

Also, on the promo, doesn't the voice say "for mainland communication, enter 3, 8"? Maybe they send a message to the Hanso Foundation that DHARMA has changed one of the numbers.

Yeah I saw that on the promo and I wonder what the significance of the chess game is...it looks alot like the one the 2 people in the Arctic Station were playing at the end of Season 2

If des saw charlie dying... I mean

if desmond LIVED charlie dying, how is des able to prevent or forsee every posible charlie-dying situation? I mean, the logical thing is that when desmond lived this future we suppose he's lived, charlie died, and end of story. Unless desmond saved him in that previously lived future too, but that wouldn't mean desmond is saving charlie, that would mean desmond is doing whatever he did before.

I mean, if desmond lived it all before, he can't have possible lived every possible variation of that future.

Within the last month I've watched all the season DVDs (through netflix) and caught up on Season 3. I think the series will have to wrap up in season 3. I don't know if I will be able to stand a season 4 as I'm not sure the story line has anywhere left to go besides

explaining the stupid smoke stuff that comes out of the island and kills people

.

I've enjoyed the series though!

I've pretty much become addicted to Lost as much as I am to Prison Break and Heroes (and only started watching it 2 days ago - went through all 3 seasons).

But I totally hate the way they've suddenly introduced the 2 new "characters" (that blonde chick and unshaved guy) who came out of nowhere and are suddenly part of the group and are aware of everything that is going on. It simply doesn't feel right (and they're horrible actors to boot).

they're not part of the group yet and i doubt they're aware of everything

sawyer 'asked who the hell are you?' to the chick and their only involvement so far was going with locke, sahid and ecko to the other hatch

Episode 14 we find out how they got there supposedly along with new footage of the plane crash...

I hate those two as well, I hope they write them out of the show. I read somewhere that there was a scene that introduces them, but it got cut out to fit the show into an hour.

Theres alot of scenes that are cut out because I was watching an interview with Cuse and Lindelof and they said when Kate had tea with Ben in the first episodes of Season 3 there was a scene where Kate tried to escape her handcuffs but that was cut and put as extra on the dvd when its out...

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2.
