Lost - Season Three

What's with all the spoiler tags? The thread is titled "Spoilers & theories - be warned!" If people don't want to read them, they can keep out.

No, that's not how it works. If it hasn't aired, it goes into spoiler tags. That way, people who watch the episodes when they air and don't watch or read anything else can still use this thread for discussions.

Yeah its only fair and me and Peewee and a few others discuss the future episodes like the finale which is something some people like to look forward to tho the warning is there :)

I don't think anyone has the right to complain about aired episodes and thus far no one has this season. If you're posting the description, then a spoiler tag isn't warranted IMO. Descriptions, trailers, etc. are ok to post without the spoiler tag, but if you're posting rumors, leaked spoilers, and stuff from the podcast that can be considered spoilerish, then a spoiler tag is warranted.

I do believe that the spoiler tag is a little over used in this thread, but it doesn't bother me though. If I need to read something I can always copy and paste into Notebook, makes it a hell of a lot easier to read.

Personally i don't think its over used. People may only like to come to this thread to discuss the aired episodes and don't want to know anything about future episodes until its aired.

I agree sometimes people will ask something that we have seen from the promo...now I know alot of sites...infact many dont like to post promos because they are 100% spoilers to them and I think thats where the spoiler tag on here comes to use :)

Greatest Hits Description

LOST WEDNESDAY, MAY 16 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) -- Greatest Hits. While Jack devises a plan to do away with The Others once and for all, Sayid uncovers a flaw in The Others system that could lead to everyone's rescue. But it requires Charlie to take on a dangerous task that may make Desmond's premonition come true.

Yeah I was rather miffed I have to say :(

Surprise Marvin Candle wasn't on that list, the loss of his left arm is meant to be shown graphically. I reckon that they are keeping the character playing Jacob a secret.

Yeah I mean he is like the biggest character from the others and if you reveal him then its all wasted in my opinion...the mystery will be like revealed...I bet in the promo I can see it now we will see the back of him and the narrator will say "and Jacob is finally revealed" :D

HenryLee in London: Please, I'll take any news you have on Lost!

Well, there's a lot going on as far as that mysterious visitor from last week, who you probably figured out by the credits is Miss Marsha Thomason from Las Vegas. (Maybe she blew off a Vegas rooftop like Lara Flynn Boyle and landed on Lost island?) She is a major twist to the plot, from what I hear. I also hear that [read only if you want to know!] this week there will be shocking moment when the fallen angel (Thomason) tells Hurley the fate of the real (wtf?!) Oceanic Flight 815.

Carmela in Wisconsin: Lost!

We'll definitely see more of Sawyer and Sayid working together. How far they've come—from torture to teamwork! Yay, S & S! Plus, sounds like Penny's dad, Charles Widmore, may be seen again. Alan Dale (also Big Daddy Meade on Ugly Betty) tells me, "When I was at the Golden Globes, one of the executive producers came up to me and asked, 'Would you like to come back?' And I said yes, of course, if we can work it out, although obviously Betty comes first." If only his son Daniel Meade had such priorities! (Did that last ep break your heart or what?)

^WTF!!!

I was thinking that...was the plane like a set up...but then again Ben didn't know them tho :s

Ben didn't know, but that doesn't mean Jacob doesn't know. Plus isn't it awfully weird how connected each one of the survivors are. I've thought setup from the beginning, but thought it was stupid since nothing has really come from that. But now, the idea is back.

Yeah but what I don't gather if why would Jacob want these people on the Island....to carry on the initiative? or to repopulate the island?

Good question.

There are many reasons for why he might want them. (1) He wants the children and good people to join his group. (2) Testing purposes. (3) He knew that Ben had a tumor and Jack fits right in with that (in all honesty, what are the odds of having a spinal cord surgeon crash onto the island where someone needs spinal cord surgery). (4) <insert theory here>. There's so many possibilities that my mind is going in circles. There's a reason each one of them is there, that's something that Locke has said time and time again, we just don't know why... yet.

Can you stop using spoilers for podcasts please? That's public info :)

Anyway, ever since Sawyer "got nice" I've been suspecting something about Jack.

I don't think the plane is fake, I'm almost 100% certain one of the Official LOST Podcasts said very clearly that it really happened.....

Now the real question:

WHERE THE

F桄CK

IS MONICA DEAN???

Seriously. From the end of Season 2 to the end of Season 3.. She said she has a recurring role.. Maybe this is Jack's shocking secret?

Will do mate :)

I just wonder then whats shes on about...if its not real then why does she say it...

Point? Promos are publically available too.

Yeah I sometimes wonder when people complain about that...but the reason I put it in tags is because people still get upset...every tv thread has this problem...

Anyways...

Some season finale info

On still-mysterious Lost, no season-finale is complete without someone dying. Who that will be is still anyone's guess. The survivors of Flight 815 will have another showdown with the "Others," the origins of the Dharma Initiative will be explained, and the beach occupants divide into two camps: one run by Jack (Matthew Fox) and the other Sawyer (Josh Holloway). One old face you will not be seeing is Harold Perrineau as Michael, who actually turned down an opportunity to return in the season finale. At this point, we have to assume that Michael and Walt are safe and sound at home. Source: MediaWeek [Note: Some people talk about a Jack/Locke showdown others talk about Jack/Sawyer. In any case, there will be a showdown between Jack and someone else.

Disappointed that Harold turned down not to appear in the season finale.

I am not so much disappointed that he didn't want to return...I never liked Michaels character but he can return one day...hmmm split camps so maybe Jack doesn't die after all...I'll make a deal with Damon he can let Jack live if it means no more Jack flashbacks...

Haha i don't think he will agree with that, just realised that chances are Season 4 episode 1 will properly be a Jack flashback!

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2.
